I keep seeing things about Kirkland wedges, I currently have SM8 Vokeys (52,54,60). Now I don’t particularly have an issue with my wedges, they are oxidized. But I’m really curious if I would get better spin out of Kirkland over my SM8s. I normally live by the if it’s not broke don’t fix it mentality.

I recently got a golf bag with way too many pockets, and somehow I already filled most of them.

Balls, gloves, tees, towels, plus sunscreen, lip balm, some energy bars and a small umbrella. I always keep a rangefinder in there too. I switched to the mileseey ionme2 lately, and it’s small enough that I just keep it in one of the side pockets.

But after a round, I realize I only take out a few things most of the time. Everything else is basically just might need it stuff. What’s something you always carry in your bag but barely ever use?

I’ve been working on developing a 3-piece urethane golf ball, and I’m finally getting close to the stage where I need real golfers to test it.

I’m not here to tell you it’s better than a Pro V1. It probably isn’t, at least not yet. The goal is to get honest feedback, learn where it performs well, find out where it falls short, and use that information to make the next version better.

I’m looking for golfers with different handicaps and swing speeds who would be willing to play it against their current ball and give candid feedback on:

• Driver distance and flight
• Iron flight and consistency
• Wedge and greenside spin
• Feel off every club
• Durability
• Overall confidence in the ball

Launch-monitor data would be incredible, but it isn’t required. Thoughtful on-course feedback is just as valuable.

If you’re interested, comment with your handicap, approximate driver swing speed, the ball you currently play, and whether you have access to a launch monitor. I’ll reach out as testing samples become available.

I’m building this ball in public and want golfers to have a real hand in improving it. No scripted reviews. No expectation that you say something positive. If it isn’t good enough, I want to know why.

This is my first season and I have been playing from the blues at my home course which is one up from the tips (blacks). I broke 100 for the first time about a month ago, and broke 90 this past weekend for the first time. I have 18 total rounds in 18 birdies and it says my index is 22.4. If I were to play from the blacks, I would obviously shoot much higher.

My question is how is that considered when calculating index? If I become “scratch” from the front tees for example, I am not a scratch golfer? I would like to eventually be long enough to play the tips, but want to break 80 first from my current tees.

For me, I walk a lot. There is a slight difference of things in my pockets when I walk vs when I ride.

Right pocket-
1 Plastic Tee- I hate having more then 1 tee in my pocket
Ball mark fixer- custom one my gf got me for my birthday and has a magnetic ball marker on it

Left pocket-
NOTHING- I will refuse to have anything in my left pocket. I don’t know why but I just don’t like it.

When I putt I put my golf glove in my back left pocket. Stupidly like the look of it when you have a golf glove in your back pocket while putting. (Makes me feel cool)

The only difference when I walk vs ride is when I walk I put my phone in my back right pocket, I usually keep score and stats of my round on my phone so when I walk I keep it in a packet.

I have slight OCD so I always keep this constant while I play. Probably not a huge deal just wondering if someone else would have some form of setup for their pockets

I understand you can be a great golfer like some YouTube golfers. You can be a pro. You can also be bad at golf. Where is that cut off where you are a good golfer? Then based off of that what is a decent or an okay golfer?

How do you get over a golf slump? Is it a range session? Is it taking a little break? Is it just play through it?

71 years old and have lost flexibility and distance, ave drive carry 185-195, ave 7i 125-130, ave wedge 95-100 yards. So the gents i play with, all similar in age and ability, and I play forward tees, a program promoted by the USGA, Tee it Forward.

I’ve been a single digit handicap most of my adult life. Currently play to a 4.5 index from the forward tees (at my club the gold tees). The course rating is 68.4 and i score 70-74 regularly. Once in awhile balloon to 78-80 and occasionally throw in a 68-70. Arriving at 4.5 index all makes sense, until I play in a handicap tournament. Theres one coming up in a few weeks. Again, my index is 4.5 but for the tournament GHIN lists my CH (Course handicap) as a +1. I have to give a stroke back. How does this make sense?

I post all scores, i play the same tees every time so i would think my index is derived from those tees, but when i play in a tournament from THE SAME TEES that i get my index from, GHIN recalculates my index to a +1 for the tournament (not discounted, at 100% index)

If i were to move back to the longer tees i would get 4 strokes, but i done play from those tees, i dont hit it far enough anymore off the tee to get home in regulation on half a dozen holes so i wouldn’t be scoring like i do, my index would easily be 4-5 strokes higher.

Anyone got an explanation?

I’m a middle aged dad getting back into golfing after barely touching a club in 20+ years. I’ve been going to ranges and going to easy par 3/4 courses this summer and have found my love for golf. It’s something for me to do outside of work/kids/gym life. I’ve really loved getting into the sport, the gear, the extra activity, the hobby, all of it.

I’m not very good though, at all..

I decided to get a lesson. I really wanted someone to look at my swing, help me at least iron out some major problems and make me a little more consistent. I don’t need to be a ‘good’ golfer. I’d like to be OK and enjoy the game.

The lesson I had today flipped my wig. My grip was wrong (ok), wrists were wrong (ok), and of course my swinging is way off. The instructor said it’s going to be weird and hard for me to learn. He was pretty intense, but probably really good. I’m just not that competitive, I don’t need to have a perfect swing, just need to keep up with regular amateurs.

What have others experience been with getting lessons? I’m about ready to fork out $500 - $1k for lessons that feel awkward. Have others found it worthwhile? Is it really worth all the effort and money to tweak your swing to just be able to hang with the guys a few weekends a month?

Long story short, I suck at putting and need mental help with putting.

I (23m) am a 5hcp and I strike the ball very well. The aspect I struggle with the most is putting. I could save so many strokes if I could read a green. I am an alright putter in terms of the action of rolling a putt end over end.

I play well at my home course because I know the greens really well and don’t really even need to read them. Whenever I go somewhere I’m not super familiar with, I can never read the green right. I make a lot of tap in pars because I hit greens so frequently.

I love in Pa and typically play of average speed greens. My question to all the good putters, what do you look for when reading a putt?

We played at Paiute Golf Resort and Reflection Bay. I finished 3rd place with my handicap (+35)

I don’t get to play Mon-Thu very often but if the opportunity presents itself, I won’t say no.

Prior to today I’ve been in a mild slump and just had poor ball striking. Shooting mid 80s to low 90s. Handicap trying to creep up.

Today, it felt easy.

Fairways were easy to hit. Hit a fair amount of GIRs. Approach misses were salvageable. Even came 12” from carding my first ace from 175 on hole 8.

If the putter was any hotter it would have exploded.

Lowest round I’ve shot in a long while.

Don’t have too many golf friends to share with. Thought you gentlemen might appreciate a nice Tuesday round.

For a 97 gross score. After just bragging about my putting and short game, my day couldn’t have gone worse from 100 yards in. What should’ve been a low 80s round turned into a blow up round. So frustrating!!! Time for a few hours at the putting range.
