Equipment Anta 2 Sizing

Question for those who have Anta 2s and know their sizing? I wear Size 9 US for both the LXJ & Reebok LL3s. (First image is from Squat_Jerk Journalist IG Shop page. Second image is Workout EU's sizing chart)

Should I go by this sizing chart from Squat_Jerk journalist or Workout EU website, even though I might purchase the Black/Gold colorway from Workout EU store? Head's been spinning about this in the last week.

(Apologies for the poor phrasing of this if it comes as being as hard to understand)

Programming Programming question

Hi everyone,

Ive been lifting for about 10-12 years now (27 y/o male) and have tried pretty much everything. Solely hypertrophy training, competitive powerlifting, crossfit. As I have matured, I really have tried to keep an emphasis on squat, bnch, DL, cleans, conditioning/functional strength movements.

I was wondering if you had any recommendations for a program to follow that is essentially college football adjacent training. I understand im 27 years old and that maybe thats not what my training goals should be but… oh well. I like being strong, big, and powerful and would like to continue to be until I cant.

I did some research and found a pretty solid program from elite FTS titled “davidson football S&C” but really no power movements we utilized. Would’ve loved to see zerchers and cleans implemented in that split.

Anyways, would love to hear of any recommendations. Thanks!

TLDR: looking for a split that essentially follows how a college football player trains

Programming is direct bicep training necessary for olympic lifting or harmful?

I have never been one of those people obsessed with getting big biceps by doing endless amount of curls (I see alot of those that still exist today in gyms).

I am curious though, if direct bicep training is necessary or not for Olympic lifting.

One of the reasons why I have avoiding bicep curls as a priority is because I heard that the bigger you're biceps get it can interfere with your catch. Ever seen a person with huge biceps do a clean, they have horrible catch mechanics because their biceps are so big. I am not certain though if lots of stretching can prevent that though, even if you have big biceps. I am also not sure if big biceps are to blame for a catch not being decent.

I have heard of some positives of direct biceps training, which I should probably not ignore, but I don't know if it's scientifically proven though. For example, I have heard that avoiding direct bicep isolation work is a mistake because if you neglect your biceps for direct work, you make yourself more susceptible to tearing a bicep on a very heavy dead lift for example. I heard of lifters tearing their bicep attempting a heavy dead before, one reason why you don't want to ignore direct biceps training.

Form check Please check my starting position

Background: I trained Olympic lifting in the past, then took a break to do other exercises because of injury and other commitments. Slowly coming back because I missed it.

Video 1: hip lower but not as snappy and I feel like barbell was floating. Weight felt more in my heel rather than whole foot.

Video 2: hip higher but more snappy and lift felt very good. Weight balance across whole foot.

What should be starting position? Video 2 felt like my hip are too high but I was able to maintain shoulder over the bar longer.

Thanks! Please be nice, first time posting.

Form check First ever jerk after months of PT work

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I've been working with a PT for about six months, to fix wrist pain due to a complete break across the lower part of the right forearm bone (radius), near the wrist, when I was a kid. Never really healed properly and had terrible pain and mobility issues in day to day activities. Add to that bad shoulder mobility in general, and front rack position wasn't even close to possible when I started. It limited me a lot in what I could do weightlifting wise and I've worked on it a lot to finally be able to do "everything" related to WL!

Here's my first ever jerk with "actual" weight (training bars don't count!) even though it's a puny 45kg.

Issues I noticed I have to fix:
- Lockout is soft
- Front foot moved first to stand up
- Unstable legs on receiving position

I'd like form critique mainly on grip width, initial front rack position and lockout wrist position. Does it look like I would benefit from a wider grip? Anything else I should work on?

Programming Online coaching/programmes

Hey!

Have recently started to get into olympic weightlifting and I have found a local club that is about a 40 min drive away and because of this I can only attend once or twice a week. while there they are helping me with my technique and teaching me a lot. I couldn't be happier with them. However I want to be able to train more and follow a more rigid programme. I have a barbell at home and a couple of bumper plates although only upto about 80kg. I have looked online and found the team Aita and the catalystathletic online programmes with video reviews and programmeing.

Has anyone used these?

How good are these services?

Is following a generic programme a better idea?

Are they as good as eachother or is one better?

Thanks in advance appriciate your time and help!

This is my first time power cleaning 100 kg and I’m super stoked! It took 4 attempts and the biggest problem I ran into was just not getting under the bar despite the bar coming up nearly to my chest. Any form advice would also be appreciated!

Form check Side view of my snatch technique

69kg BW, 29kg weight
Definitely a lot of things wrong (including me going to the gym a day after a meet, but I wanted to do some form work). The pauses are meant to help me practice not ripping the bar off of the ground and slowing down my first and second pulls.

I had some folks asking about how my OH squat position looked and they mentioned it could be a limiting factor in why I struggle in pushing weight on snatch. I’ve also noticed that I hardly bend my elbows, and of course the bar gets out in front of me.

Gonna check out some coaching this week, just wanted to get yalls thoughts beforehand.

Form check Upper quad pain when squatting

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Need some assistance on squat form. I can’t point out anything specific myself but at the bottom of my squat I always get a sharp pain in my upper quad. Elevating my heels helps a tad bit but the pain still persists. I’ve heard it could be caused by a lack of glute activation but I don’t really know where to go from there. Any advice is appreciated, thanks.

Edit: also noticed that the pain goes away completely if my toes are pointed forward and progressively worsens as my toes point outward

Not the prettiest but would be white lights. Dealing with a shoulder niggle affecting confidence in the catch. Hazards of hitting 40!

Programming Triple-Focused Mesocycle

Hi, I want to share with you guya the approach I want to take for my next meet (1st lf November, so 8 weeks away)

Starting tomorrow, I'm running Dozer's squat program (3 sessions a week, back squat focus, no competition lifts) plus some mobility, speed work (snatch balances, box jumps, etc.) and maybe some upper body work.

Last time I did this (Dozer Squat program 8 weeks out) I got a 20 kg PR in the back squat, and then a 15 kg total PR in the meet.

When I'm done with the 4 weeks of squatting (and hopefully with a brand new squat PR), I intend to do the following:

Day 1: Snatch; Back Squat; Core accessories

Day 2: Jerk; press/push press; upper body accessories

Day 3: Snatch; Back Squat; Core accessories

Day 4: Jerk; press/push press; upper body accessories

Day 5: Snatch, Clean and Jerk, front squat

Edit: the days are just a guideline. If work allows/forces me to, I'll train on the weekends too. Just that it has to be mornings (if I work Saturday morning, then I'm forced to smash the week's training into 5 days or begin the week on the previous Sunday) I've changed it to Day 1, Day 2, etc. for clarity.

Also, I have a family trip in mid october, and we'll see how I fit training around that

I'm wanting to do as little pulls and cleans and possible because A) I'm having a rather painful lower back which I'm slowly recovering from and B) I struggle with the jerk anyways, always cleaning 10 to 15 kg more than I can jerk.

Now the triples part: I don't want to test my RMs on the snatch and clean and jerk before the meet, so I'm thinking of working my way up to 90% of my target qeight for a triple.

As an example: I want to finally hit 100 kg in the snatch, so I'll try to reliably hit 90 kg for a triple.

Same with the jerk.

As for the one day doing clean and jerks, maybe doing cleans front squat and jerk, or 2 cleans 1 jerk up to 90-ish %, to get used to jerk more fatigued than I'll be on meet day.

Do you think it's reasonable?

Oh and aorry for the text wall.
