LeetCode Student Subscription

LeetCode is having their annual student subscription offer - I signed up! If we get to 50 students from WGU, we will have the lifetime subscription offer of $99. So far there are 4/50 signed up. Ends on September 30th.

Is there anyway to know the number of students per school who has already signed up for this offer?

Once you sign up for it you can see how many have also signed up and close we are to the goal. You are only charged if the goal is reached.

LeetCode allows you to practice data structures and algorithms, similar to those questions you would see in an interview setting. There are a lot of free questions on LeetCode already, so if you’re unfamiliar I would recommend checking it out first, to see if it’s valuable for you!

As a software engineer with multiple years of experience in tech, I think it’s a great ROI.

Edit: The first half of this is sarcasm. The reason I formatted it like this is, and the point I’m making, is that two people with similar experiences can come to different conclusions. There’s nothing wrong with thinking LeetCode is a waste of time/money. I just don’t think it’s highly relevant to prepend it with “I am an authority on this because I have x years of experience”. It’s $99 for a year - a Netflix subscription costs more annually. I’m NOT commenting on my judgment of the state of interviews and whether I agree with it or not.

I would’ve tended to agree around ~3 years ago but as a SWE in mid career my last 3 interviews have been more about architecture and AI use rather than a traditional coding problem.

In my experience there have been multiple rounds, with two technicals (and potentially a take home) - 1) either a coding challenge/practical challenge, and 2) system design. Over half of my interviews have had a coding challenge.

But past that, do you see 0 value in practicing DSA this way? For me, the value extends past interviews. It’s fun, and has made me a stronger and more creative developer, with more tools in my toolkit. 🤷‍♀️

I've only had 2 leetcode interviews and they were big tech. Most are technical discussions, and/or a small practical exercise.
