That straight would likely be power lines, or gas lines.

This width is absolutely useless for stopping fire spread. Maybe could allow some firefighters access closer to a fire.

Either this or a fire corridor, which is used and made to prevent easy spread of a wildfire.
However, it looks a bit slim for a fire corridor, they usually are as wide as a 4 lane road

NFS roads and a power line.
NFS roads are used for multiple purposes,. Originally were built for logging (1910s and later) but now mostly for fire control/response and recreation.
Interestingly, the NFS is responsible for 265k miles of roadway, which is 5x as much as the entire US interstate system (about 48k miles).

Could be a lot of things. If the line is near the border with Canada then that is the actual border line that marks the end of American territory and the start of Canadian and vice-versa.
Otherwise it could be a gas line kept clear from trees or other underground infrastructure.
