all these free awards and i have yet to see a single paid award on any post on reddit haha, really proves how dogshit the new system is. dont give reddit money. this is not reverse psychology.
anyways every comment here will get an award, idc if its 10 or 1000.
edit: to give a free award you click on the "award" thing. you'll know if you have free awards or not immediately. im on reddit webapp so if you dont have it try and log on there

In the previous version of awards they occasionally gave out 1 free award (which I think was just one of the paid ones), probably hoping people would want to give more. I can't imagine it worked well given that they scrapped that system, so I guess we'll see if the runback works lol.
Probably awards will just stop being free after a month or several, and they'll hope people got addicted to giving them. Or, worse, they scrap the up/downvote system and just have emoji awards (which could be why only the single highest "point value" or, if free, quantity award is shown without clicking into it).

Someone once gave me the Ternion or whatever it's called and it gave me a year of no ad browsing. The highest award. They did it anonymously with the message of "mmmm nuggies" over a post I made about chicken nuggets. God bless them. Never had to pay for reddit premium. Wish we had the old award system back.
Getting a free wholesome seal award or whatever to give out sometimes for free was nice too.

Maybe they changed it, last year I got a popup/notification telling me that I can give out free awards for the day. I utilised it by giving out as many awards as I could.

Reddit uprooting the original awards system and stripping them out of every post was the most baffling decision they've made. Even after they rebooted the old system after nobody used Golden Upvotes we still lost all those awards on previous posts.
I think we lost some history now that classics are missing two trillion Reddit Golds, at least screenshots exists
