The Catholics are crusading...

I, too, was born one thousand years ago. Perhaps more.

u/Zero_Zeta_ 11h ago

I am a relic of the last millennium. I have seen things people from this age wouldn't believe.

5

u/khaledjal 11h ago

no we will believe you, just tell us

u/Quaytsar 6h ago

Sure you were, BigBoyBill1477. Little 549 year old acting like he's a millennial 🙄

Plot twist: Op is harvesting people’s data. Why? Idk go ask him.

5

u/Yorrins 8h ago

They literally are lmao. Every single post like this is data harvesting.

Its only the birth year And you act like you now every single detail about me

Like wow you know i was born in a selection of 365 days i dont care

u/flightguy07 7h ago

Sure. Issue is that the same account people comment on this post from may also have commented on those "the first three letters of your first name, the last 3 letters of your last name and the suffix -ere make your fantasy name!" posts, and maybe mentioned their star sign in another, follow some subreddits for their home city, have mentioned their gender, maybe their race, etc. A dedicated individual with a couple hours, or increasingly, an AI, could very easily collate tens of thousands of comments from across a few years and likely figure out a great deal about a person. The best policy is to be very, very careful about any personal information you post, anywhere.

Many people include the last two digits of their birth year into their passwords. The chances that OP or anyone would be able to get anything useful out of this thread is almost nill so I wouldn't worry. But social hacking is one of the best ways to get access to stuff you shouldn't have access to

u/Significant_Ad_1626 8h ago

Also, the data can always be scavenged among several post. With that said, even more info about you could be public and that doesn't mean a problem if you are aware of it.

u/Inkthekitsune 5h ago

This is fair. I stopped doing that a while ago and now i use a phrase and number that only means something to me (important non birthday date, number of my favorite Lego set, dex number of my two favorite Pokemon, etc.)

But yeah I’ll share vauge details like birth year (which you can also glean from age).

u/ThinkingWithPortalzz 10h ago

This is as dumb as those Facebook posts where "your Harry Potter name is your mother's maiden name, the street you grew up on, and your first pet's name"

13

u/Shadowmirax 11h ago

Nah the guy who invented birthdays clearly holds the record for best bait.

3

u/AGamingGuy 7h ago

people learning i am a vampire born in year 2 because i said my weakness is Helium

2

u/AGamingGuy 4h ago

never got close enough to see for myself, if you think a cross is bad, try being anywhere near the man himself

You get superman powers but the 6 elements with atomic numbers that make up your credit card number are your kryptonite

Now we just need to get people to give up their birthday and place of birth and they are minutes away from being doxxed.

2

u/Significant_Ad_1626 8h ago

Never? There are lot's of those "your month decides your character" or "make a phrase with your birthday". Is like the horoscope of the new age, but with a virtual audience.

1

u/griggsy92 9h ago

I literally had no game or incentive. I just did it when I made my account

1

u/Lazerbeams2 7h ago

Tbf, there are a lot of much more egregious versions of this. I'm willing to give away my year, but any finer detail than that is staying private. I've seen versions of this that trick people into giving actual names and birthdays

1

u/Besher-H 6h ago

And what exactly could anyone possibly do with that information

1

u/Blue_Moon_Lake 6h ago

That's why you lie and pretend your birthdate would be one of the funny one.
Like 2006 or 2008.

Or you ponder the humor of 1987, 1995, 1998, or 2032.

Then joke at how it's already true for people from 1980, 1992, 1994, or 2033.

You never saw one of those "XY is your supervillain title but X is the month and Y is the day you were born" thingies?
