Religious fundamentalist is mad at the notion that science rejects creationism, making them seethe

Everyday I amaze myself on how much I fail at reading, I read seethe as “see the” and was like, see the what?

if this comment meant you need more explanation:

religious creationism is very much incompatible with scientific theories such as evolution, continental drift, radiometric dating, and a whole lot of space science that reckons with the fact that the earth (and surrounding universe) are very, very old. religious creationism posits that the earth was made in a few literal days and is now only a few thousand years old. this is solidly, demonstrably, not true. you cannot adhere to our current understanding of science while ignoring the evidence that the earth is very old.

Technically god could have just made the universe to make it look like its billions of years old, kinda like how game devs put lore in their games to give the illusion of their world being older than it actually is, which means that god could still technically exist. Its impossible to prove it though so most scientists just put a big question mark next to the existence of god and move on with their days

Im not a Christian btw I just find this stuff interesting

"god is not deceptive" mfs explaining why god made the universe look very old when he actually doesn't want you to think it's old or else he's gonna send you to drown in boiling shit for eternity!!!

why use lot word when few word do trick

Basically, some christians think that the earth is 7000 or so years old. Science vehemently disagrees. Christians don't like that so reject science

i grew up in one of these churches. pyramid scams are rampant. my parents fell for the mineral miracle solution thing with the chlorium, and i heard of some idiots on the church being flatearthers. this is in chile btw, where no one even profits if you use MMS. they just getting bleached their insides for the love of the game

TLDR: religous ppl dont like when you mention that science dont support their religion, because it deligitimizes it

one day i hope to find the bible quote that actually condemns trans people

7

u/__R3v3nant__ 2h ago

The only partly logical argument I see is that God chose your gender so changing it is saying that God was "wrong". The issue with this is:

  1. If you're trans, you didn't change gender, you were that gender in the first place, and you're just allowing yourself to express yourself as what you feel on the inside

  2. This argument can be applied to everything from wearing glasses to surgery correcting life altering birth defects (oh you were born without legs and are using prosthetics? You're saying God got your number of legs wrong)

I actually found one in a comment somewhere on the Internet. Somebody posted a Bible verse that said something along the lines of "Your body is your temple". An ultra Orthodox guy said that this means that being trans is a sin because you're "altering the body" (they were talking about medical transition I guess) and therefore you're "desecrating the temple". I replied that, given that that's something you'd want to do and it would make you happy, surely it implies that you're "taking care of the temple", in accordance with the Bible verse. I don't remember what they replied with but it wasn't a coherent counterargument.

One’s body should be a temple to one’s soul and mind, for we already have temples to god.

u/tfhfate 3h ago

Okay just for confirmation, doesn't that emoji symbolize christianity?

4

u/ProbablyNotTheCocoa 1h ago

It symbolises being obnoxiously performative and using Christianity as a shield to justify bigotry usually, regular everyday Christian people do no feel the need to announce their piety to random strangers

1

u/tfhfate 45m ago

Okay that's what I thought, thank you 👍

I'm pretty sure Jesus said something about people like that, and it was not a glowing review of them
