It was designed for and works well-ish for upper middle class married women with children whose biggest challenges in life surround their family life and being underappreciated for their contributions. A little bit of gaslighting yourself can make that tolerable.

It can also help with people who are socially anxious, and their main challenge is fear that they're being judged by others, assuming they aren't actually being judged in the way they fear. So for example a middle class young cis man with social anxiety vs an impoverished middle aged trans woman, only in one of those is the judgement being experienced likely over estimated.

It was not designed for dealing with, for example, racism. Because you cannot gaslight yourself into making it tolerable to be the victim of racism.

Or poverty. You have to eat real food.

It seems like the screenshot there is related to the type of problem CBT can help with, but OP wants the therapist to actually solve the problem rather than give them coping strategies, so it won't work for OP.

tl;dr it's "fake it til you make it," that works for some things but not everything
