When I moved here someone told me they believed that the keeper of the plains kept storms from hitting the city too hard, Wichita specifically. Obviously its superstition, but in the same way ancient cities had local deities, I believe that the keeper is a local deity due to the collective acknowledgement of the keeper and statue placement at the intersection of two rivers.

Hi! I am 22 y/o girl and moved to Wichita a few weeks ago. I would consider myself to be pretty extroverted, and have made a few potential friend connections since moving. However, I’ve had several of these connections fizzle out pretty abruptly after mentioning that I have a girlfriend. I didn’t honestly think that this would be a huge issue, but i fear i may be hanging around the wrong pocket of the city?

I am looking for hobby clubs/events/hang out spots that skew younger, gay, and/or to the left. I have a ton of hobbies (knitting, reading, leather working, plants, movies, literally just going to bars, etc.) and honestly i’ll try anything once 😭. My gf and I are long distance (for the first time since we started dating 🥲) so couples events/stuff like that isn’t an option. My coworkers seem to be pretty into church groups but that’s not really my scene lol. I am also very willing to volunteer for any good causes around!

TLDR: Where do the younger, gay, left leaning crowd hang around in wichita?

I am looking for a recommendation for somewhere to get a gift card for my husband who has never had a massage that isn’t a particularly spa environment but also not just a strip mall. it is for a special occasion but he’s never had a massage so nervous, though open to it. Hello! I have an acoustic violin as well an electric violin (both full-size) which are in desperate need of some maintenance. The acoustic especially needs some TLC. She’s been with me the longest and has had far more play time than the Fender has. A new bridge is a must, and a fresh set of strings couldn’t hurt either. As for my Fender, the bridge is maybe ok, just needing repositioning. My two wooden horsehair bows are in decent shape aside from being basically hairless lol

Of course I consulted the interwebs before coming to Reddit, and see there are several local luthiers. But I really want to hear directly from other musicians who they’ve had the best experience with. So fellow strings players of Wichita, can you offer any good recommendations?

I signed a contract with what appeared to be a reputable contractor on March 17th to do the repairs from the hailstorm that we had.

I didn’t have a lot of damage, the roof, skylight, a few feet of guttering, a few pieces of siding, and both aluminum awning/patio covers.

They dropped off the roofing supplies in my front yard on May 15th, and started the roof on June 15th.

Did the gutters and pieces of siding on June 30th, replaced the skylight on July 21st, after first trying to tell me that insurance was only paying to replace the bubble cover on the skylight…for almost $800!?!

Then they tried to tell me that insurance was only paying to replace the top panels of my aluminum awning/patio covers…for almost $2600 each!?!

After clarifying what they were claiming through my insurance adjuster, and informing them that insurance is paying to replace both of the awning/patio covers, they are now demanding the final payment, and that I have to find someone else to do the awning/patio covers even though they are included in my contract.

I have never had an issue with all of the work in a contract not being completed, so I’m not sure how to handle this situation. Any suggestions?

As a 19 year old gay man, I have to say, dating here is absolutely treacherous and nonexistent. I have been on every app you could think of, and there are genuinely upwards of 5 options to pick through, and my filters are only: male, 19-30, located in wichita. All of the gay spaces are 21+ and half the time barely have actual gay men. The university has 1-2 queer organizations that also barely have gay men. I am actively searching through scraps. I am more likely to be struck by lightning than find a man who resembles my type. And I’m not even picky!

Just found out from progressive that our house insurance is going to increase by 125% next year. They told me it was a overall rate increase for Kansas because of all the storm damage and that other companies are doing that also. Has anyone else experienced this? Searching for other companies one wanted our Social Security numbers for a quote. I’m not giving them that until they tell me the numbers.
