With the Wimbledon Public Ballot 2027 now open to applications until September 14, 2026 (megathread here), we've taken a deep dive into the updated ticket terms and conditions to see what's new.

The Wimbledon 2027 ticket terms and conditions can be found in full on the Wimbledon website.

Many of the changes make clear what was already the case.

TLDR

• Prohibits purchase or use of any tickets this year if tickets cancelled for terms breach
• Legal first name and surname, residential address required on applications
• Anti-gifting clause added
• Card re-use narrowed to public ballot and related advanced sales phases
• Anti-fraud documents and evidence to prove application info added
• Household restrictions apply only to public ballot and related advanced sales phases
• Public ballot and related advanced sales phases tickets capped at two
• Grounds passes "may be" made available; previously "may not be"
• Tickets bought after 10:00 the day before not eligible for refund
• If you request a refund and second ticket has already been assigned to a guest, both cancelled
• Admin fees can now be charged to replace/reissue tickets

Summary of changes

• "On-site Ticket Sales" replaces "On-the-Day Ticket(s)" as the umbrella term for Queue and Resale Ticket Kiosk purchases
• "Ticket Return Shop" introduced as the resale channel for unsuccessful ballot applicants and refund-related consequence (loss of access after a refund)
• Tighter identity/anti-fraud language: legal name, residential address, added anti-gifting clause, expanded AELTC verification/enforcement powers
• Refund policy tightened: explicit cutoff; consequence when requesting a refund and a paired ticket has already been assigned to a guest
• Administrative fee provision added allowing AELTC to charge for ticket replacement/reissue outside cases of its own negligence.

New for Wimbledon 2027

PART A: Introduction and General Provisions

Clause 4.3–4.4 (Consequences of breach) — restructured and split into two distinct consequences.

4.3.1 changes the old clause 4.3's "may result" to "will result" relative to that year; 4.3.2 changes "will result" to "may also result" relative to longer bans

4.3 Subject to Clause 4.4 below, any Ticket that is cancelled due to a breach of any part of these Ticket Terms and Conditions:

4.3.1 will result in the Ticket Holder and/or Ticket Purchaser being prohibited from purchasing or using any other Tickets for that edition of The Championships; and/or

4.3.2 may also result in the Ticket Holder and/or Ticket Purchaser being prohibited from attending the Grounds and other premises owned or controlled by the AELTC (as a Ticket Holder or otherwise) for up to a period covering five (5) consecutive editions of The Championships.

PART B: Terms Of Sale

Clause 1.1 — simplified language; "On-the-day" replaced by "On-site"

1.1 This Part B of these Ticket Terms and Conditions (the “Terms of Sale”) applies only to the application for and/or purchase of Tickets from the AELTC and governs the sale of Tickets directly by the AELTC, including Ticket sales made pursuant to the Wimbledon Public Ballot, other Advanced Sales Phases and On-site Ticket Sales.

Clause 2.2 — applicant information requirement changed from "surname, first name", "postal address" changed to "residential address"

2.2 In order to submit any online Ticket Application, each Ticket Applicant is required to be registered with their own myWimbledon account and to provide all information reasonably required by the AELTC, including a valid personal email address, their legal first name and surname, date of birth, residential address and phone number, in order for the AELTC to facilitate the Ticket Application and verify the Ticket Applicant’s identity.

Clause 2.5 — new sentence added prohibiting a Ticket Applicant from buying a pair of tickets as a gift for two other individuals

2.5 A Ticket Applicant may only apply for and purchase Tickets for their own use and for use by a bona fide privately invited Guest, being a family member, friend or other person with whom the Ticket Applicant can demonstrate a pre-existing relationship and with whom the Ticket Applicant must attend the Grounds on the applicable Championships Day in accordance with Part C (Terms of Use) of these Ticket Terms and Conditions. For the avoidance of doubt and by way of example, the foregoing means that it is not permitted for a Ticket Applicant to purchase a pair of Tickets as a gift to be used by two other individuals.

Clause 3.5 — card-reuse restriction narrowed from "any Advanced Sales Phase"

3.5 The same credit or debit card may not be used to purchase Tickets in multiple Ticket Applications (whether used by the Ticket Applicant or by any other person) submitted in the Wimbledon Public Ballot and/or any other Advanced Sales Phase available only to Wimbledon Public Ballot Ticket Applicants.

Clause 3.6 — reworded to apply only to the public ballot and associated advanced sales phases

3.6 Except in exceptional circumstances as reasonably determined by the AELTC, a Ticket Applicant is not (in relation to their Ticket Application) permitted to change their name, residential address or email address once a Ticket Application has been submitted in the Wimbledon Public Ballot and/or any other Advanced Sales Phase available only to Wimbledon Public Ballot Ticket Applicants.

Clause 3.7 — expanded from a single remedy; now formalises requiring additional documentation or evidence to verify personal details in application

3.7 If at any time the AELTC reasonably believes that any of the prohibited actions set out in this Clause 3 has occurred, the AELTC reserves the right, at its discretion:

3.7.1 to require a Ticket Applicant to provide to the AELTC additional documentation and/or other evidence in order for the AELTC to be able to verify the information included in their Ticket Application and compliance with these Ticket Terms and Conditions;

3.7.2 to reject all Ticket Applications (whether validly submitted or otherwise) of the Ticket Applicant; and/or

3.7.3 to cancel all Tickets purchased by the Ticket Applicant without notice and without right to a refund.

Clause 4.1.3 — one application per household now only applies to public ballot and associated advanced sales phases rather than any advanced sales phase

4.1.3 Only one (1) Ticket Application per Household is permitted during the Wimbledon Public Ballot and any other Advanced Sales Phase available only to Wimbledon Public Ballot Ticket Applicants. Ticket Applicants are solely responsible for ensuring that no other person has submitted a Ticket Application using the same Household address as contained in their Ticket Application. If a Ticket Applicant is concerned that their Household address has been included in another Ticket Application, they must contact the AELTC without delay in accordance with Clause 7.8 of Part A (Introduction and General Provisions) of these Ticket Terms and Conditions;

Clause 6.6 — specifically references the resale for the first time; also added to definitions

6.6 If the Ticket Applicant is unsuccessful in being allocated any Tickets via the Wimbledon Public Ballot, they may be invited (at the AELTC’s discretion and based on availability) to apply for Tickets in the Ticket Return Shop and/or any other subsequent Advances Sales Phase available only to unsuccessful Tickets Applicants of the Wimbledon Public Ballot.

New Clause 6.7 — caps Advanced Sales Phase purchases

6.7 In respect of the Advanced Sales Phases referred to in Clause 6.6 above, a Ticket Applicant shall not be permitted to purchase more than two (2) Tickets in total.

Clause 6.8 (previously 6.7) — used to say "may not be"

6.8 Grounds Passes may be made available as a part of the Wimbledon Public Ballot at the AELTC’s discretion.

PART C: Terms Of Use

Clause 4.2 — "shall be responsible" strengthened; a new sentence added giving the AELTC the right to charge administration fees when it chooses to replace/reissue tickets

4.2 Each Ticket Holder shall be solely responsible for safeguarding their Ticket at all times. The AELTC is under no obligation to replace or reissue any lost, stolen, damaged or corrupted Ticket unless such loss or damage can be attributed to the negligence of the AELTC. Where the AELTC determines, at its sole discretion having given due regard to the circumstances, to replace or reissue a Ticket (other than as a result of its negligence), then the AELTC reserves the right to charge reasonable administration fee.

PART D: Refund Policy

Clause 2.1 — new sentence added in capitals clarifying tickets bought after 10:00 the day before are not eligible for refunds

2.1 In the event that following receipt of a Purchase Notification, a Ticket Purchaser no longer wishes or is unable to use the Ticket(s), the Ticket Purchaser may submit to the AELTC a request for a refund at any time prior to 10.00am on the day immediately preceding the Championships Day to which the Ticket(s) apply/applies. Provided that the Ticket Purchaser has at all times complied with these Ticket Terms and Conditions (and otherwise subject to the provisions of these Ticket Terms and Conditions), the AELTC shall issue a refund of the Purchase Price of the Ticket(s). FOR THE AVOIDANCE OF DOUBT, ANY TICKETS PURCHASED AFTER 10.00AM ON THE DAY IMMEDIATELY PRECEDING THE CHAMPIONSHIPS DAY TO WHICH THE TICKET(S) APPLY/APPLIES ARE NOT ELIGIBLE FOR A REFUND.

Clause 2.2 — new provision: if you cancel your ticket and your second ticket has already been assigned to a guest, both will be cancelled without notice

2.2 If the Ticket Purchaser requests a refund for only one (1) of a pair of Tickets included in a Purchase Notification, then the Ticket Purchaser must retain the other Ticket for their own personal use. Any uses of such other Ticket other than by the Ticket Purchaser is strictly prohibited. In circumstances where the retained Ticket has already been assigned to a Guest prior to the refund request for the other Ticket in a pair being submitted, both Tickets will be subject to cancellation without notice.

Clause 2.3 — new sentence: no access to resale after returning tickets

2.3 In order to request a refund, the Ticket Purchaser must follow the instructions for submitting a refund request provided by the AELTC. A refund request will only be considered submitted once the Ticket Purchaser has received an email confirmation from the AELTC, at which time the Ticket(s) shall be deemed cancelled. Once a refund request for any number of Tickets has been confirmed, the Ticket Purchaser will no longer have access to the Ticket Return Shop (if applicable).

Hi folks!

I am near NYC for the next two weeks. The US open main draw opens tomorrow, and I'm considering getting a ticket! I'm a Wimbledon veteran, but I've never been to the US open. From a quick browse online, I can already see there are a lot of differences between the US Open and Wimbledon....

• Anyone can buy a ticket at any time. The official sale platform is Ticketmaster, though at this stage, it's mostly official resale tickets, as it looks like this is allowed at the US Open. Lots of tickets on Stubhub/Viagogo etc
• Tickets are per session (morning & evening) rather than per court. Doesn't seem to be a midnight curfew from what I see so the evening session can go on past midnight.
• The resale price can be higher than what the ticket cost. Similar to Wimbledon, the order of play isn't published till the night before, so apparently these resale prices fluctuate quite a bit as the tournament goes on; if a popular player isn't playing on a day/session, sellers can be in a rush to sell off their ticket.
• A show court ticket gets you access to the other show courts below it on a first come first serve basis; this makes the morning sessions much more attractive as you can leave Arthur Ashe for example for another interesting match elsewhere, plus matches on the outside courts.
• The cheapest ticket I could find for a date that works for me was around $175 for a seat way at the back for Arthur Ashe for a 2nd round match. I found standard (non-resale) tickets for just one session at an eye-watering $1,249 each 😵‍💫 (not debenture/hospitality). Gotta love American pricing (I say this as an American)

I might bite the bullet and pay $250 for a 3rd round evening session where it looks like I'd get one men's and one women's match. At a glance, compared to Wimbledon the tickets (at least at the resale prices and the current standard price) are significantly more expensive if you didn't buy them when they first went on sale months ago.

For those of you who have been to the US Open, was it worth it? How did it compare to Wimbledon? Did you go for a morning/evening session? Any other general tips?

PS with all of the resale faff, I am actually SO grateful Wimbledon does not put up with the US crap. It's literally extortion.

If anyone has managed to score ballot tickets for Wimbledon more than once, was it pure luck, or is there anything you can do to increase your chances of getting them? I've only been there once, but I would love to go again.

Someone in one of my tennis groups posted it but - although I have all notifications from ‘myWimbledon’ on - I have not received that sort of notification

- Has anybody else received the email notification in the picture?

- Does anybody know why some people receive that notification and others not?

hey everyone just fyi i had an email today confirming that my printed ticket has been sent out in the post. i know a few people were wanting one so think you should be fine in getting one! i requested the Monday after the championships finished

I mean those random moments you never really plan for, like bumping into a player around the grounds, having a quick chat, or getting an autograph when you weren’t even expecting it. Those little moments would probably stick with you more than anything.

After Wimbledon, I was really looking forward to seeing how Sinner would look in the next few tournaments. With the knee issue now keeping him out of Cincinnati, part of me thinks it’s probably the right call to take a step back. At the same time, it does make you wonder how much missing these matches could affect his rhythm going into the US Open.

Every Wimbledon seems to produce at least one unexpected standout. It isn't always a top seed, sometimes it's a player whose game naturally clicks on grass and suddenly puts together the best run of their season. There are always a few names I quietly keep an eye on because they seem to find another level once Wimbledon begins, regardless of their ranking or recent form. Those surprise runs often end up being some of the most memorable stories of the tournament. Share the player you always back to exceed expectations and what makes them so dangerous on grass.

I think I'd choose the outside courts.

Being able to walk around, watch a few different players and stop wherever there's a good match sounds like a really nice day to me.

For people who've been to Wimbledon, which do you prefer?

StubHub hasn't learned anything from the recent World Cup disaster. Here we have both fraudulent/nonexistent seats and speculative tickets, yet StubHub still refused any refund for the buyer. Beware of making any purchases on StubHub ever. The "FanProtect Guarantee" is not going to save you from either fraudulent tickets or speculative tickets because StubHub does not operate its business in good faith.

Has the new system made the matches better to watch live, or has it taken away some of SW19's unique character?

took my fujifilm x100vi with me and got some shots :)

And it was a ton of fun. Came in Thursday of the second week through the Queue in the afternoon and walked right in with no wait. Resale was closed by that point so we were content with Grounds passes, but it was still a very cool experience. Saw a bit of Krajicek/Keothavong vs. Santoro/Stubbs which was a fun watch (they seemed to be enjoying themselves), some of de Groot/van Koot vs. Xiaohui/Ziying (which was pretty incredible to watch), and decent portion of a girls 13 match. Would definitely come again and maybe make an effort to get Center Court tickets next time.

I just want to say a massive shout out to anybody who ever said ‘there’s no such thing as a bad seat on centre court’. They could not be more right.

It was my first time ever on the Centre Court and the view was exceptional. I was in block 509 and two rows from the back but honestly, I felt like I was right next to the action.

Overall, the food, drinks and activities throughout the day were absolutely amazing. I’m so glad I got to witness a 3 set finals!

Hopefully, I’ll be back next year to do it all over again🤞

Just had a response after sending an email hoping to get tickets printed as a souvenir. Apparently this option is unavailable to those who got their tickets via the resale ballot. Anyone else experienced this?
