Why so many months for a construction that is less than 2 miles long? Even after considering the sewage expansion work, this feels very slow.

I have no idea about the construction industry and its processes. Is it a lack of construction workers? A lack of urgency? Bureaucracy? The usual low Canadian productivity that many institutions are raising alarms about?

Possible reason the Tecumseh/ Lasalle area are seeing massive jumps while the rest of Windsor is seeing smaller incremental changes: more sales of higher end properties (as those areas both have newer homes being built)

Same as before each neighborhood es separated by the red lines and the data is based on the homes sold and prices listed within those neighborhoods.

We have been doing the local market and festival circuit around Windsor-Essex recently, and after chatting with several fellow vendors and small business owners, it feels like some are navigating similar growing pains. It got me thinking if there is an informal meetup or networking group specifically for local market vendors, artisans, and small business owners? If not, I’d love to gauge interest in hosting an informal meetup (somewhere in Tecumseh or Windsor-Essex).

To be clear, this isn't about bashing local events or organizers. Running events is tough, and every market has its own learning curve. The goal is simply to create a positive, supportive space where vendors can help each other grow and navigate the early pain points of running a small business. What marketing tactics, signage, and booth setups convert browsers into buyers. Constructive discussion on what's working, and what isn't, across different local markets and pop-ups. General peer-to-peer problem solving and support for local makers and markets.

The focus is strictly educational and community-oriented. No sales pitches, promo links, or negativity.

If anyone knows of an existing group like this in the area, please point me in that direction! If not, wondering if there would be interest in setting up something for even a seasonal meetup?

I've been stuck renting from Reliance for far too long, now that my water heater is over 11 years old my insurance won't cover it if anything goes wrong.

I'm curious about tankless water heaters and owning my own instead of endlessly renting one.

Has anyone dealt with any reputable companies in Windsor/Essex county? What kind of costs should I expect?

Ive lived in Barrie, Sudbury and Toronto and everywhere I go people talk shit any time windsor is brought up.

My wife and I have been getting sick of the snow and the cold here in barrie for 4 months of the year and did some research into warmer areas in ontario that are still somewhat affordable as BC is too expensive.

It led us to either the Niagara region (st catharines) and Windsor Essex. Everyone we talked to said st catharines was great, wine country etc. So my wife and I spent 2 weeks there. We really didn't like it. Niagara Falls is okay but rough outside the touristy vegas like downtown. Then St catharines itself was okay but sleepy and boring suburbs. The traffic was also not great, trying to drive to toronto would take forever most days.

Then we said, okay we didn't like st catharines / Niagara, let's try spending 2 weeks in windsor, which we did this last March. And... we really liked it. Everyone was telling us about crime and fent zombies, (which we did see on oulette) but downtown barrie has people camping near city hall doing drugs in the open all year round basically. In the actual downtown area, we didn't see any homeless roaming around.

We loved the waterfront, the quick access to a major city (detroit), the amount of parks, and our toddler was able to play at the playgrounds and beach in the water in March?? We were amazed. When we went back to barrie the lake was still completely frozen over until the end of April or so.

Not saying windsor is perfect, but my wife and I are making plans to move to windsor. We liked tecumseh and south windsor the most for us. Lasalle seemed like just a bunch of neighborhoods with a weird strip of shops. Maybe we didnt explore it properly but we didn't love it.

The traffic was so much better than the gta, he'll it was better than barrie.

Also, windsor has great food, the Italian restaurant downtown was awesome. Same with the pizza.

This is not to mention the much cheaper house prices. What are we missing?

My partner is in charge of our lawn maintenance but has been neglecting it for a couple months now and I’ve just received notice from our landlord that he’s being fined for it and need someone to get it done preferably tomorrow (Tuesday September 1st) so he can get the fine reversed.

Even though my partner is responsible for it, it’s me who gets scolded for it by landlord, no matter how many times I remind him to stay on top of it. He says “it’s just weeds” and therefore it doesn’t count as grass… smh I have no words but I’m desperately trying to find someone last minute. We texted our regular grass guy but he sometimes takes weeks to respond, and I reached out to someone on kijiji but haven’t heard back yet.

Anyone have experience living or parking in this area? How is this part of town when it comes to car break-ins or theft? I’ve seen a lot of posts about smash and grabs with parked cars on this sub over the years.

I'm starting at the Uni this fall and found a parking spot for rent in this alley.

I'd only be parking there during the day for classes, with the occasional evening class. I’m assuming that lowers my risk of shit getting stolen but I want to hear from you guys. Any tips? Cheers.

If and/or when Broadway ever reopens under the Gordie Howe Intl Bridge, does anyone think that Transit Windsor would extend the Crosstown 2 (or whatever it will be called if it falls under the new numbering system) to do a loop with stops at the Pedestrian path to the Gordie Howe and Black Oak Heritage Park? Would there be enough demand to justify such a change?

Looking to get an early prep for next year's garden, and I'd like to find some legitimate heirloom seeds, from a reputable vendor. I would like to find a local family operation, but any advice would be greatly appreciated. 😄
