So I’ve had around 15 hours of windsurfing these last few months, and I’ve gotten better at starting and sailing in any direction I want and doing U-turns, either a jibe or the other kind (I don’t remember the name, sorry).
But all of that was in flat water conditions. I’m fine with 15 knots of wind using a 3.5 sail and a 180L board.
But today I went solo for the first time, so without an instructor, and just my luck, the sea was wavy. Like, A LOT of waves, close together, with like 2 meters between each one and around 1 meter tall.
I thought I could be fine, but it was a catastrophe. I couldn’t even stay on the board. I would sail for like 20 meters, then fall, and struggle to get the sail back up because of the waves. And even when I did manage to stay on the board, I could only go in one direction because whenever I tried to change direction, the waves would just destroy my balance.
I was feeling good about myself because I thought I was good enough at sailing and going back to my starting point without anyone, but now I just ended up swimming back for like 15 minutes because I just couldn’t stay on the board.
Any recommendations for a noob like me, please?
