Amount for number

It drives me nuts when people use amount to me number. A DJ just said, "I would like to thank the amount of you who send in requests... "

People are not amounts.

Drives me up the wall too, like they're measuring a pile of flour instead of actual humans

I've edited many math textbooks, and if I left "amount" for people unchanged, I would not have been doing my job.
