Is there any incentive for ‘insane tech’? The government is so corrupt that they’re just funneling money their way regardless of outcome. This is how empires fail.

US tech is already pretty insane, was for decades. The issue is just its very expensive and not really suitable for long lasting attrition warfare in a peer or close to a peer conflict. Long term even US can't afford to waste Patriots to destroy missiles that cost a fraction.

I'm sure they can make even more 'insane tech' the question is whether they can manufacture cheap weapons on a large scale suitable for drone warfare and obviously the "cheap" part is very unlikely.
