It's not only Germany but several intelligence agencies from different countries as well.

Moscow: "we deny every involvement blablabla"

63

u/Leezeebub 5h ago

Dont believe anything until the kremlin denies it

15

u/Zhaopow 5h ago

We didn't do it but also fear us

2

u/disposable-assassin 2h ago

But also US called us weak so look at this power everyone knows is us

67

u/bulbusmaximus 6h ago

You know what you got to do Germany.

52

u/ErgoMachina 5h ago

They are forming the committee that will choose the member of the committee in charge of dealing with this...

Holy bureaucracy

-3

u/Ylaaly 5h ago

Not burocracy. The ruling parties don't want to bite the hand that feeds them, i.e. the fossil fuel lobby.

9

u/fipseqw 3h ago

Germany is one of Ukraine's biggest supporters.

22

u/dimwalker 5h ago

They do, but somewhat lagging behind - it's nice they are calling for tougher sanctions on russia and their shadow fleet, but it took a direct attack.
Oh, and so far it's just a declaration of intent. Nothing happened yet as I understand.

We closed a cultural „Russian House“ in Berlin.

2

u/useless-engineer420 1h ago

We Finally did? Finally! I don't get how this FSB hub was allowed to operate so long

1

u/PositiveUse 1h ago

Yup! We did it!

2

u/useless-engineer420 1h ago

I guess that's something. Should have happened 2022 but whatever.

2

u/ErrorLoadingNameFile 1h ago

In 3 months btw

2

u/PositiveUse 1h ago

3 months notice period? lol

u/useless-engineer420 1h ago

Ohh ffs... Of course.

3

u/gosnold 4h ago

Releasing the Tauruses would be a good start

1

u/-Cinnay- 1h ago

On it, already increasing our military

81

u/wellmaybe_ 6h ago

watch them do nothing in response to not escalate

28

u/fd6270 5h ago

"we've tried nothing and we're all out of ideas!"

23

u/valdecsgo 5h ago

Well they did a very SEVERE reaction this time:

Closed a consulate.

Ended the Berlin Russia-House deal.

Asked the ambassador in for a meeting.

That'll show them to not send any more explosive drones, such severe consequences.

Issue is not only that Germany‘s government is too weak for that BUT this would be political suicide in the current German climate. There are major federal elections where the far right is already subject to win the majority of the seats… this can break the current government this fall …

6

u/Doro_Gurl 3h ago edited 2h ago

I believe the opposite. Being tough on russia and for once standing up to the agressor in no uncertain terms would gain Merz lots of political capital. The current voter split in Germany is mostly due to the conservative CxU parties basically saying: "AFD IS RIGHT (pwease vote for us anyway 👉👈)".

A wise leader would use this occassion to set a contrast to them. But Merz being Merz he will certainly fumble it and probably insult some group of people in the process.

8

u/Great_Lingonberry148 4h ago

It’s political suicide to respond with weakness. If the German government will not defend itself, then the far right will deserve those seats.

2

u/PositiveUse 1h ago

So you see, it’s a lose lose, the far right will win and will stop all Ukraine support , because they are Russia and Putin loyalists

-22

u/SheikhJayidLeno 5h ago

You should go volunteer for the Ukrainian Foreign Legion.

-9

u/DaveMitnick 5h ago

Nope. I am in Croatia at the beach and half of the men are Ukrainian. They go first.

5

u/DarkLF 4h ago

you're very brave to volunteer other people to die on a battlefield.

-7

u/Scifi_fans 5h ago

Lol, weak societies eventually have to face situations... the more you coward around the worse it gets...

4

u/SonOfLembitOpik 5h ago

See you on the battlefield lad 🍻

8

u/SilverFox6 5h ago

What makes this a "hybrid" attack instead of just an outright attack from Russia?

3

u/blopsi 2h ago

Yeah experts are already calling this a Phase 0 of a regular war. Hybrid is more cyber war thingies

1

u/itszaidbtw 4h ago

A hybrid attack is still an attack.

38

u/HeavyTurd 6h ago

I’m so fucking sick of these warmongering hillbillies

10

u/empror 6h ago

Right... That hillbilly should go back to bare chested horse riding

3

u/Dyls94 6h ago

Hills have eyes looking mo'fuckas

13

u/ClutchReverie 6h ago

So does the US CIA director that flew to Russia just to tell them to fuck off with this kind of thing

8

u/MaxiP4567 6h ago

You think the current US-Administration, or at least Trump, care about what the Russians do?

14

u/canalhistoria 6h ago

Good, Putin needs to understand that if he pushes too much, Germany can trigger Article 5.

7

u/Impulse3 5h ago

I mean if this ended up working, wouldn’t that be article 5?

12

u/HighOverlordXenu 5h ago

You forget that NATO, especially Europe (though probably moreso the US under the current administration, admittedly), desperately wants to avoid invoking Article 5 if there's any other option.

Yes, Russia's conventional military is depleted and was mostly a paper tiger even beforehand. That's not what is important. Europe doesn't want a war. The white house doesn't want a war. Anything less than outright invasion of a member state is not going to result in war.

2

u/romario77 5h ago

Invoking article 5 means gathering for consultations. It doesn’t mean declaring war.

Even if invoked I doubt anything will come out of it besides some talking and finger waving.

Maybe another 1-2 companies under “sanctions “.

3

u/HighOverlordXenu 4h ago

Eh, there's what Article 5 actually does and then there's what the general public thinks Article 5 does.

If a NATO nation invokes Art 5 in response to a nuclear power, people are going to go into panic mode and potentially tank the economy before the leaders even say two words.

1

u/itszaidbtw 4h ago

you need to say "world war" not just war because the white house 100% wants wars.

1

u/HighOverlordXenu 4h ago

The white house doesn't want a war with Russia.

(Apparently they'd rather get our asses kicked by fucking Iran)

-3

u/itszaidbtw 4h ago

We arent getting our asses kicked. USA just doesnt want to blow everything up because then there is no money to be made there. Also doesnt want to send boots on ground because that would lose American lives and even Trump knows he will be hated completely if he goes full scale invasion.

3

u/DesecratedPeanut 1h ago

The US is getting it's ass kicked by reality rather than militarily.

2

u/Kiwibirdy1 5h ago

Prolly more like article 4

3

u/RagipMullat21 3h ago

Honestly at this point it feels like Russia's just testing what they can get away with before things escalate further, which is somehow more unsettling than an actual coordinated attack.

4

u/wrathful-anus 6h ago

Time for operation Barbarossa II

7

u/ChooPum6 5h ago

Just give Taurus to Ukraine.

-12

u/SheikhJayidLeno 5h ago

Glad to see you're nostalgic for Nazi Germany.

0

u/Anni2005x 5h ago

RuSSenzäpfchen faseln was von Nazis, herrlich!

2

u/Ruashiba 5h ago

Good! Thank you for pointing out the obvious, of course it was the russians.

Now, what are you gonna do about it?

1

u/docubed 3h ago

Germany could retaliate against Russia. This didn't end well last time

1

u/gilgermesch 1h ago

Germany cannot officially call it a "State of Defense" ("Verteidigungsfall") unless 2/3 of parliament agree. Two parties in the German parliament, the extreme right AfD, and the socialist Die Linke, are blaming the west for Russia's aggressiveness and unlikely to ever vote to have the State of Defense declared if the aggressor is identified as Russia. Added up, their seats make up for more than 1/3 of the seats in the parliament.

u/VieuxBidule 1h ago

u/mrallen77 1h ago

This is going to escalate quickly

u/nthpwr 50m ago

any country with a spine would consider this an act of war

1

u/mekilat 5h ago

So retaliate

1

u/Aedeus 4h ago

Worth noting that a NATO intervention represents one of the few credible "off-ramps" for Putin that he may survive.

So he may very well be fishing for a military response.

-5

u/ronweasleisourking 5h ago

"We strongly denounce blah blah no actions will be taken blah blah blah rabble rabble"

Go ahead and do something or fuck off like everyone else, Germany

-2

u/ExoticSterby42 6h ago

A bit slow

0

u/Haegar_the_Terrible 4h ago

Its not 'blaming', its 'making public'.

u/VieuxBidule 1h ago

Oui. Bon, en fait, c'est juste une attaque terroriste directe. Il n'y a rien d'hybride dans cette histoire.

u/Fischfrikadelle0803 6h ago

Omg the russians again, at first they the destroy the northstream pipeline oops sry I mean it was ukraine and now this... it must be the russians

25

u/Daedalus0506 6h ago

Woooow easy there Dimitri

11

u/ResponsibleLiving577 6h ago

Nord Stream 2 was Russian-owned infrastructure, owned by Gazprom.

3

u/RandomLegend 3h ago

So your theory is that Ukraine tried to blow up a plane delivering weapons to Ukraine? You Russian losers get dumber by the day.

2

u/eskay233 4h ago

Are you Russian, paid by the Kremlin or both?
