I love it. I wish the dh starting area was more in depth. Had you pick a demon and perform the ritual lioe in the illidan book

while we’re at it, to add to the whole ‘hero class’ fantasy i think you should have to sacrifice a character to be able to create a dk/dh

If i remember correctly that was the original plan for death knights origibally but it was scrapped

This.

Hero class is a class with a class-based starting zone (as opposed to a race based starting zone) that starts at a higher level than other classes.

In the past, they used to require you to have a character above a certain level before you were able to create them (for instance, when DKs were added to the game in WotLK, you had to have a character at level 55+ on your account to unlock the ability to create a DK).

Another common misconception was that hero classes were supposed to be stronger than non-hero classes. That would have been a terrible design philosophy, and it was never the case. However, DKs (the first hero class) were significantly overtuned at launch and on top of that, their set of starting gear (when leaving their starting zone at level 58) was way stronger than the gear the typical non-DK at level 58 would wear, which made them ridiculously OP. Hence why some people thought that “hero class” meant “intentionally OP by design”.

I never knew what "Hero Class" meant and have been confused by it since they announced DKs. I have literally been that "I'm not sure what hero class means and at this point I'm too afraid to ask" since 2008.

Thank you for clearing up an 18 year old question for me.

Demon Hunter is the only other hero class iirc, hero classes make it apparent that you start out more powerful. Monk started at lvl 1 just like the rest of them.

Look if I saw one of Arthas' undead killing machines coming towards me I'd probably be more the Scarlet Peasant than the Citizen of Havenshire here too.

Hey look... I'd be scared enough to probably shit myself too if I was just some farmer or baker being chased down by a fully armored undead monster wielding an evil magic sword with a zombie army behind them.

The obligatory poop quest. Every expansion has one.

The one in Grizzly Hills is certainly a poot...uh I mean hoot.

But we usually rummage through ogre poop.

I am convinced that there is a guy with poop fetish at blizzard since vanilla. Almost every expansion has a quest or something to do with shit.

"Men shit themselves when they die. They didn't teach you that at Fancy Lad School?"

Blizzard really likes poop. There are various poop quests throughout the game, at least one per expansion. The best one tho is the one from wotlk where you have to dig through your own poop in an outhouse lmao. Poop is funny.

I peasant running into a Death Knight is like you running into a Slasher villain. Give the guy a break!

The magic of death knight starter on launch was something else. It was so in depth and really set the tone for the upped level of connected stories across Northrend.
