Feedback requested Tips
I really enjoy reading stories on Webtoon, manhwa, manga, and other platforms, and it made me want to try writing my own stories. I’m not necessarily trying to become a professional novelist, I just really want to get better at storytelling and eventually create stories that people enjoy reading.
For anyone who writes stories, what tips would you give to someone who’s just starting out? I’d especially love advice on creating characters, plots, dialogue, and actually staying motivated enough to finish a story!

Mushoku Tensei - read it. ALL of it.
Learn the differences between web novel form and publication form. That may mean buying a book or two to explain the different variations in the styles, common errors, etc.
Read the best in the form. Dungeon Crawler Carl. Trailer Park Elves. The classics!
Outline 30 installments and write 10 before publishing on Royal Road, etc. Have auto-delivery so you aren't chained to it. Keep 10 installments ahead always. You will come down with the flu, have your truck throw a rod and leave you stranded, etc.

my advice to a beginner writer is to find some friends who are willing to read your story as you write it (and/ or to find a writers club and join them). there's nothing more motivating imo than finding community in a hobby, and they can give you specific feedback based on what they're actively seeing in your writing

Learn to love the medium of writing itself. You mentioned comics and they're a very different medium with conventions that don't work in the written word. Read a bunch of short fiction and go from there. A lot of people pick up writing because they can't draw or don't have a few grand to throw at film production, but the craft of writing itself is like knowing how to draw and compose a comic, or or be a director and cinematographer all in one, only it's unique skills that don't transfer at all.
