Offline xkcd reader I created

I have created this offline xkcd reader, and I wanted to share it. It's an HTML viewer containing all the comics in high resolution and an interface. This means that it's a single file (430mb) that can be opened on any device to run in a browser, and it will show as something similar to the original website.

This works anywhere offline, you just need a browser installed !

The viewer has integrated search function, random and next buttons, and was designed to be as close as possible to the website (though an older version maybe). The alt-text appears when hovering. Support for mobile is also integrated, with the alt-text showing beneath (see fourth image).

I hope Randall Munroe doesn't object to this (as far as I know he doesn't profit from the website).

If you have any suggestions for improvements, please share them, and I'll be happy to add them in !

TIL https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LimeWire

In December 2025, it acquired the file sharing website filetransfer.io, and began offering cloud-based file sharing services.[56]

judging by the rest of their 2020s activity (NFTs, generative AI, buying the Fyre Festival brand...) I guess they're still as shady as ever

I really don't know why you'd use that rather than torrents.

I have to imagine this violates at least the spirit of rule 1 of the sub.

I don't see how that seems intended for posts that are explicitly posting comics. This is just a cool project that's being shared and the images are part of that project. And if your talking about the screenshots of the xkcd comics I guess maybe but that's only there to demo the project not really for the purpose of sharing those comics.

It does not. The rule is about people who download the comic image and upload it to Reddit instead of linking to xkcd directly.

Well, there is an ad for the xkcd store on the site. Along with links to his other projects.

Well, the official website also says :

This work is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 2.5 License.
This means you're free to copy and share these comics (but not to sell them). More details.

Definitely legal, but the question was if it violated the subs rule.

It totally should

I once saw a very detailed Blare Witch theory that walked through the entire show scene by scene showing how the entire story was orchestrated by the boys to murder the girl.

Yeah, I know that one. I think that they also wanted to rape her. But this is not the right sub for this discussion

This is so awesome. Do you have it available on any other form than a limewire link? Google Drive, Dropbox etc?
