Available for purchase Community Zine Fest #1 | Post your zines / shop zines for sale!

Comment below to share your shop link or your latest zines for sale.

Tabling Rules:

  1. One sales comment per community member, please!
    • If you have something to add before the next post, please edit your initial comment or reply to yourself and create a thread. That way, your work is all together as it would be at an in-person zine fest.
  2. Everything posted here should abide by our Community Rules. (Since NSFW/content warning flair is not available for comments, please include these warnings in your comment as relevant so folks know what they're about to click on!)
  3. In keeping with community rules around including context with links, sharing a little blurb about what your zine(s) is/are about is recommended.

This monthly thread serves as a digital zine fest where folks can browse and buy fellow zinemakers' creations. A new post will go up the third Sunday of every month and be pinned at the top of the subreddit.

(You're still welcome to share one-off posts with zines for sale in the "regular feed" throughout the month.)

Happy vending/shopping!

---------------------------------------------------

A couple housekeeping notes:

  • Please share any feedback or ideas for this monthly thread on this comment thread rather than in this post, or send a message. Thanks!
  • If anyone would like to create and submit a featured image for these posts going forward, that'd be awesome! I believe the ideal size is 1920 x 1080px. Chosen artist would receive credit and a link in the monthly post. NO AI-generated images, of course. If there are multiple submissions, I'd rotate them. Please send a message with interest.

Hello, all!

Following recent discussion in this post, I'm writing to share the latest updates to our Community Rules. This post will remain pinned at the top of this sub, and the updated rules now appear in the sidebar.

As always, your feedback is welcome.

For changes to wording within existing rules, I will comment on this post to note them.

As major changes are made or rules are added, I will create a new post like this and pin it at the top of the subreddit.

******************************************************************************

Please include context with your post.

Dropping a link or photo(s) with little to no context doesn’t inspire others to interact with what you’ve shared. It’s likely to be regarded as spam. Please include information or a description that will be helpful to readers and might motivate them to interact with your post or link.

No impersonation/copy cat posts or sharing others' work without credit.

Posting others’ work without credit, or sharing as if you created it, is prohibited. Posts will be removed; accounts with no history of contributing to this sub will be permanently banned. If you don’t know the creator, make that clear or specify that you are not the creator.

Don’t share others’ work in full unless they’ve given clear consent for this (and please state this in your post). For these shares, include the creator’s name and a link to their full work.

Rule #2 updated to:

No impersonation/copycat/karma farming posts or sharing others' work without credit.

Posting others’ work without credit, sharing as if you created it, or karma farming (including re-posting others’ popular old posts) is prohibited. Posts will be removed; accounts with no history in this sub will be permanently banned. If you don’t know the creator, make it very clear you aren’t the creator.

Don’t share others’ work in full unless they’ve given clear consent for this (and please state this in your post). For these shares, include the creator’s name and a link to their full work.

Use of generative AI is strongly discouraged and must be disclosed. “AI slop” will be removed.
This is a DIY community with a strong anti-AI contingent. Note that use of AI/generative AI is strongly discouraged and will likely be met with hostility and downvotes, if not removed due to being low-value or slop.

To protect the integrity of DIY, any use of generative AI must be disclosed in your post. Please specify what gen-AI tool was used, and in what ways/for what elements (text, images, etc.) of your zine or post.

(What's considered "AI Slop"? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AI_slop)

As of 8/14/2026, AI-generated/vibe-coded webapps/software is not welcome in this community.
New posts promoting such will be removed as of 8/14/2026. There are a number of long-standing tools zinemakers have used for building and arranging zines digitally. After a recent influx of posts promoting new tools created with AI, we are implementing a rule against these tools here. AI goes against our DIY values and ethics, and we will not support the proliferation of AI use in creative/DIY spaces.

Disagreement and disapproval are allowed. Harassment and hate are not.
Threads may get heated. Do your best to be respectful, and allow that calling-out or disagreement does not equal harassment. The automod may remove posts/comments with certain language. Mods might not approve what is removed by automoderation. Mods may not step in unless language crosses into hate or very personalized attacks. We use Reddit’s guidelines: https://support.reddithelp.com/hc/en-us/articles/360043071072-Harassment / https://support.reddithelp.com/hc/en-us/articles/360045715951-Hate

NSFW/explicit content must be posted with the Not Safe For Work (NSFW) tag AND the NSFW post flair.
NSFW/explicit content must be posted with the Not Safe For Work (NSFW) tag AND the NSFW post flair. Please edit the NSFW post flair to specify each kind of NSFW content present in your post (e.g., Sexual content, gore, physical violence, blood, pornographic content, language, etc.). Being specific is practicing care for all community members who may not wish to be exposed to certain types of content. Please see the pinned post if you're unsure how to edit flair.

Promotional posts without context or clear value to the community will be removed.
Seems pretty straightforward. :)

No personal crisis fundraising/donation posts.
Posts seeking donations amid personal crisis will be removed, even when zines or related goods are offered in exchange. With no means to vet the authenticity of every post of this nature, they are prohibited overall to prevent potential compassion fatigue and taking advantage of others. You may create an “Available for purchase” post to promote your work and make your wares available, but avoid language around donations and personal need that could be seen as exploiting emotions.

Daily doodlings again,
I pretty happy with the birds, I’d got a bit stuck on those days, and came back to do them at the weekend (with time to add feathers!)

I’m still slightly unsure what to actually do with these, building a pile of 52 is kinda satisfying enough I guess..

That's it, just wanted to celebrate this crazy project finally achieving financial independence. Still takes a lot of time to make but at least between Patreon, web sales, and zine fests it doesn't cost me anything out of pocket anymore! For anyone out there with a really ambitious idea, you CAN make it happen 🙂

I’ve been wanting a way to encourage folks to get more zines when they shop my booth at makers markets, so I quickly mocked up these little zine packets. They include my usual free zines plus free stickers. Are these silly? I’m obviously not an advertising designer so go easy on the designs 😅

I’ll be running them at a few booths going forward and will let y’all know how they do!

How much do you charge for mini zines?

Post image
16 Upvotes

I've been selling mini zines for $1.00 locally. My goal with them is primarily to express myself, but I'm eager to start paying myself more fairly for my work (I would make maybe ~50 cents before). So, for my newest mini zine, I put the price at 2.95 CAD.

Zines are not widely understood where I live (yet!!), so it's easy to feel intimidated by putting up the price, even though it does feel justified (this one also includes a hand-printed and typewritten linocut card).

I feel like it would benefit me to hear what prices you have settled on for your mini zines--with or without extras. (I'd also love to show off the fun cover for my cowboy story!)

Bark + Grass Number 2: revolution supper - 90's archive zine

Post image
16 Upvotes

Bark + Grass Number 2 is a vegan cookzine created by Posi Kim and her friends of Positive Press sometime between 1993-1995 in Chicago, IL. It's part of a series of cookzines that Kim + crew released on vegan cooking, often distributing at local music festivals around the MidWest from IL to OH. Bark + Grass leaned heavy into feminism and animal rights, and this edition of Bark + Grass is no exception. It includes excerpts from Fight Me by Daisy Rooks, who wrote a piece on the link between animal rights and feminism inspired by a book called The Sexual Politics of Meat by Carol J Adams (well worth the read btw!). Rooks is currently a professor of sociology and Positive Kim is out there too. I mention because it's easy to look at older zines and see them as relics of the past we can learn from when the folks who made these works possible are still out there, often still teaching and sharing their wisdom with the world.

Anyway, Bark + Grass volume two includes European measurement conversions, a list of ingredients and why they are considered animal abuse when used, a list of alternatives to choose instead, and even a list of source materials in the back. Most of the recipes come from Posi Kim herself, some from friends, some jacked directly from cookbooks with updates and edits that the crew found pertinent to share. The cookzine covers everything from Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner meals to Baked Goods and a special section dedicated to Tofu + Tempeh cooking. Many of these recipes are still gold (I've made a few myself! - The Pancake recipe is a go to in my house!) and you can even find some on the internet credited directly to this cookzine.

I don't share any interior pages for zines where I personally have not been granted consent to do so, so apologies for anyone who wants to read more here. Pretty sure a full copy can be found on the internet archive though! There's also an abbreviated copy archived at Smith College.

Break the System Archive has over 1000 items of radical ephemera from posters and flyers to self published works and of course, zines. If you know anything about this zine, (created in the Chicago area in the 1990s), or are one of the authors/ contributors I would love to hear from you!

“Freedom of speech has been a measurement of the strength of our rights and democracy in the United States over the past 250 years. Yet, as this country celebrates its founding, efforts to criminalize free speech have increasingly targeted zines and community organizing.“

A single sheet mini-zine comic that depicts my first D&D character having a conversation with an NPC. This zine is a few years old now and the quality of the art is a bit questionable, but the characters hold a special place in my heart- so I still like it!

Available for purchase THE PETT REVIEW ISSUE II OUT NOW

THE PETT REVIEW – Aug 31, 2026

Thank you so much to everyone who bought Issue I! Your support means the world to us and is what makes The Pett Review exist. Substack is great, but nothing beats having a tangible print issue, which not only feels much more real but is also tactile and tangible.

We’ve put the finishing touches to The Pett Review Issue II. The arguments over the cover are over, the proofs are almost ready to go to the printer, and now comes the hardest part: waiting for it to exist. To make that happen, we need enough pre-orders to fund the first print run. Independent magazines live or die by their first print run, and your pre-order directly helps make Issue II possible. Every copy ordered brings us closer to seeing Issue II in readers’ hands and allows us to continue building The Pett Review.

We’ve ironed out some teething issues from Issue I, so hopefully Issue II will be even better. It is also now staple-bound, which means it’s half the price.

What’s inside?

To give you a taste, here are a few highlights:

“We Have No More Beginnings” – A review by Maria Moron of the novels of Spanish author Javier Marías, AKA King Xavier I of the Kingdom of Redonda, a tiny Caribbean island, a title he inherited from the British writer Jon Wynne-Tyson as a reward for including the poet John Gawsworth as a character in his novel Todas las almas (All Souls). Translated from Spanish by Sofía Vidart.

“Ephemeroptera,” Olly Lovatt — A short story that takes its title, and its logic, from the mayfly, an insect that lives its entire adult life in a single day. Lovatt writes from inside that day, in prose that beats and stalls like a wing catching the light before it gives out.

“Katzenjammer,” Nell Neukomm — A poem about the morning after. Katzenjammer is German for hangover — literally, “the wailing of cats.” Accompanied by an original sketch by Agarak A.S.

Artist Interview: Miguel Carranza — We spoke with the Guadalajara-born, London-based illustrator ahead of Capricco, his first solo exhibition at Le Escargot in Soho. We discuss narrative drawing, fashion illustration, zodiac personifications, and he gamely submits to the Pett Catechisms.

“Venice: In Situ,” Ben Petrie — An essay that picks a fight with the Accademia. Petrie argues that Bellini’s altarpieces, Tintoretto’s Crucifixion at the Scuola Grande di San Rocco, and other Venetian masterpieces lose something essential when removed from the spaces they were created for.

Also featuring: artwork by Alfred Portman and poetry from Mike Tester, Claude Arbes and Leah Meister, an interview with the Mexican yogi Tían Reyes, a comic from Editor Otto Galise, a recipe from Gertrude Bell and sommelier Caitlin Farrell’s nomination for drink of 2026.

OH… AND the notes page has been replaced with a crossword (clue: think Bohemia)!

The Details:

  • Pre-order price: £5
  • Shipping: September 10th
  • Format: A5, 48pp (total page count), printed in the UK on FSC-assured paper
  • Pre-order here: [LINK]

If this is your first issue, we’d love to welcome you to the Pett Set.
