Yup. It’s an old Kimber CDP. Last time I owned one was 20+ years ago and I wished I hadn’t traded it away. Anyway, GB score for under 6 bills shipped and now I have one again. Like buying back a piece of my 1911 past. This one is seemingly unused over the last 25+ years.

I’ve shot many different brands. Sig, Colt, Taurus, Dan Wesson…. Saw the deal currently going on for the Tisas 1911a1 and figured it couldn’t hurt to get one. Plan on modernizing it some. Got it for the price, not the era.

Looking to start upgrading internals on a few of these ladies. Interested in flat triggers but having trouble finding a flat black variant - opinions on who makes the best unit?

All it needs now is an X300. Is the Ultra or Turbo the better option?

Finally pulled the trigger on my first 1911. Went with the Springfield Operator because it hit the sweet spot for a first single stack 1911 — affordable enough that I feel comfortable carrying, cleaning, and working on before deciding whether to invest in something more expensive or collectible down the line.

Got the 4.25” Commander-length since I plan to carry it once I’ve put a couple hundred rounds through it, and went with 9mm (a little begrudgingly) so I’ll actually shoot it more and can save money on ammo by using the 9MM I already have.

Part of building confidence with this platform, for me, means getting comfortable doing my own maintenance and inspecting parts. I plan to run it bone stock for a while, but with Wilson Combat’s Labor Day sale going on, I figured I’d price out some upgrades now and pick up what makes sense.

Here’s what I’m currently eyeing, all Wilson Combat/Bulletproof parts:

- Bushing — Commander, thick flange, Bulletproof, blue
- Guide rod plug — ringed cap, Bulletproof, Commander, blue
- Hammer — retro Commander, Bulletproof, blue
- Guide rod — Bulletproof, Commander, stainless
- Magazine release — Bulletproof tactical or extended, blue
- Trigger — Ultralight Match, long pad, black

Questions for the group:

- What am I missing from this list?
- Which of these are more “nice to have” than actually useful?
- What are good simple upgrades (even non-Wilson) that improve reliability and accuracy?

Won this at auction recently. An early AMT hardballer made in Arcadia. It came with this ugly clamshell grip with a laser dot. Neither i was a big fan of. Naturally i had to get the hitman esque pachmayr grips. I think the rosewood adds a classy touch to lt and they dont feel half bad. Hopefully it runs decent enough. I have a longslide that runs ok.

Just got it in on a trade. Any recommendations?
And anyone know of a good night aight brand that would work with girsan 1911 C T?

Planning some backcountry trips next year and just picked up a Dan Wesson Bruin in case I beat the odds and run into a bear. I have a full frame pack with a belt support so belt holsters won't work and I can't stand chest holsters.

Looking for a thigh/drop leg holster but not finding much in my searches. Any ideas where I can get one?

I'm setting up my Tisas Raider to be my new EDC. I've upgraded the sight with a Kensight tritium/fiber optic combo billet sight. I've had everything polished including the feed ramp and anything where metal touches metal. I haven't had any issues out of the extractor or guide rod but just being preemptive and the recoil spring I ordered is 18.5 lbs. I've considered getting a WC barrel too. She shoots phenomenal.

Other than that she's almost done. I've got a Phlster Floodlight IWB for concealed carry and plan on ordering a Safariland for OWB/any open carry.

Thoughts?

Have this 1911 Garrison with blued finish. Got some light rust and very minor pitting along the left side of the slide & frame. I’ve polished the rust away with steel wool and CLP. The finish is smooth to the touch but I need some advice if there’s any way to touch up the minor pitting spots. (Not really wanting to get it refinished at the moment, so if that’s the only option I’ll save it for a later date.)

Is this a different model than the Tisas being offered through the CMP or is it the same gun just considerably cheaper because it's on sale? Thanks in advance for the help.

Story time! So, I got suckered by TacticalUSA with their “free ammo, just pay shipping” emails. Ended up getting a box of .45, couldn’t decide what to do with it. Ended up buying a silver Century Arms 1911, along with a black slide and some other parts to create a budget version of the Terminator 2 biker’s pistol. Dremeled off the cheap back paint of some of the parts to match it up a little better. It’s far from perfect, but I’m really digging it!

PSA- DO NOT buy from TacticalUSA as they are apparently scammers who will charge you $65 a month for a “magazine subscription”, and you will get nothing but a charge on your account until you call up and yell at their customer service rep. That’s the only way to get your money back other than charging it back. So don’t be a doofus like me, lol.

Own like 5 pistols non a 1911. Though I should change that.

Is it normal to be able to see the mainspring betwwn the slide and frame? Pistol functions completely normal.
