This was a random find inside a pile of records. It’s ALWAYS a rabbit hole, but the story is very interesting!

It almost sounds like Harry Lauder, to me… anyone recognize it? I haven’t “dug deep” to find out.

I did read over the Wikipedia article for it: very good description!

Long and short of it: looks like it’s made for kids, but it was actually made for people with a mind on their money- economy! 1¢ apiece, and sold in music stores and Five-N-Dimes (5¢ and 10¢ stores in early USA). Interesting, quick read on the article!

This is played on a (likely) dark “fumed oak” cabinet VV-XIV (earliest design style), ~late 1911-early 1912.

Hi guys, today I got a record player and finally got the chance to play some vinyls my great-grandfather gave my father years ago. Among them was this one. What year do you reckon it's from?

I know I’m not the first person to ask, so maybe you all can point me in the right direction.

How are you all storing your records? The 10” book I have is disintegrating. And the sleeves are crumbling. I have two little side cabinets on my machine.

I have about 30 or 40 now, all 10” and I have a sing sing sing on 12” I adore. I just want to keep them safe and organized long term.

(My Scotch Bluebell) “Scotch Specialty”- only 75¢! (in 1917 lol) - Harry Lauder, Victor Orchestra, ca. 1917- appropriate, too! This is a late 1916 Victor Electrola VE-XVII from the very same timeframe!

I had to organize my cave. It’s now in much more of an organized state than it was! I cleaned everyone up (dusted) and am giving them all a little exercise… while doing so, I found this cool record.

This is a real toe tapper- I definitely recommend finding a copy! {heavily abbreviated for time}

Hi! I don’t always post “phonograph” stuff here, but when I do, it has to do with 78s and records- which this one just so happens to!

Just picked up a kind of “last” ‘holy grail’ for my Victrola collection, and it was specifically made to pair with the Victor Victrola XII (12th) tabletop.

It is a Victrola Record Cabinet, ‘Style (No.)’ 50, $75 factory price, #236, mahogany, ball-claw legs with gold (plated) casters, logo’ed (Victor Talking Machine…), and likely very rare.

It came with an unexpected key - and not just any key, a weird one- and a leather cover/back flip-style record index with hundreds of records listed.

Limited info online and in The Victor Data Book (Baumbach). Anyone have any additional knowledge?
