Hello Guys sorry for my bad English.

I’m living in Germany and i am a hunter and sport shooter.

I’m currently in the market for another ar10 i have a aero precision m5

But i’m thinking about the next 2 rifles and i want some advise and what would you buy

- h&k mr308 in 20 inch
- daniel defense dd5 v4 308 in 18 inch.

What should i buy? I really don’t like that h&k uses other magazines.

Thanks a lot!
Greeting from Germany !

Barrels, Bolts, and headspace?

Upvotes

I'm building out my first LR-308. Aero M5 lower, M5 upper, and M5 15" handguard.

Trying to pick out out a barrel. Was planning on going 20".

When you folks are picking out barrels - how do you pick out a bolt and make sure the headspace is correct? Just (good) Go/No-Go gauges? Have faith the parts are to proper DPMS LR-308 GEN 1 "spec" and just "send it" ?

Criterion appears to sell barrel + bolt combos: example - (that's an 18" setup, but they've got them in 20"s too)
https://criterionbarrels.com/products/ar-platform/large-frame-ar/dpms-pattern-308-hybrid-barrel-mid-length-gas-chrome-lined/?v=0b3b97fa6688

Is this kind of extra up-charge worth it? Are they actually doing anything? (putting a go / nogo gauge set in it?). Charging $100 or $200 for just the bolt (not the full BCG - just he Bolt) seems a little steep?

Revisiting my first large frame(but improved)

My very first large frame gas gun That I ever shot was a JP Enterprises, LRP – 07 with the LR I – 20 upper. It was chambered in 6.5 Creedmoor and I really wanted to shoot one after watching Frank’s video on it years ago. I decided to build my own, but I wanted it chambered in 25 Creedmoor. I had Paul Ross chamber and contour a CRB Barrel. I’ve only shot this rifle to function test and get the gas setting right and I did some initial accuracy testing once I got my zero but unfortunately I don’t have any pictures of that. I’m not the best shot but with 134 grain Hornady match ammo I was able to get right around 3/4MOA for 8 shots(I know it was random, but I only brought one box with me and that was all I had left over after getting everything else set up)

JP Large frame semi auto chassis system with a 17.25 inch rapid configuration handguard
LMOS BCG
Standard AR-10 SCS
BAD Ambi safety
Triggertech diamond flat single stage
24” 1:7.5 twist CRB in 25 creed 1.20” don’t 1.075 before the gas block, .936 gas block journal and .930 at the muzzle, threaded 5/8x24
Hawkins updraft brake 1” 6.5mm bore
Area 419 17” arca lock rail
Magpul PRS gen 3
MKM precision crossover grip with RH thumb shelf
Warne skyline 34mm 20moa cantilever mount
Tract 4-25x50
Accu-tac SR5 gen 2 with arca clamp

I’ve just done function testing to get the gas set just right with the JP adjustable gas block. I also got my zero answer preliminary accuracy testing which unfortunately I didn’t get any pictures of. But with my shooting ability, I was able to get it to around .75 moa. A more competent shooter would definitely be able to get those groups a lot smaller.

Recently picked up an sr25 K3 for my KAC collection and I’m very mixed on what path i should take my brother wants me to go full bore DMR with an mark 5, I’m much more make it a battle rifle and have fun with it. Any suggestions I’m actually quite fond of the new sig 8TAMR setup and the new KAC 7.62 crs1 can, with a bi pod it would be great for medium range but not gonna lie a mark 5 would be a bad dude
