CQC update
It was in my AUGust post, but finally managed to take this CQC away from an lgs that had been using it as a rental gun, it was out on the floor because their second AUG broke and kaboomed itself. Managed to take it from them for the price of a replacement range AUG.
There was significant amounts of carbon buildup, to the point parts where sticking, needed a full bolt disassembly and cleaning of deposits inside the stock & the guide rod channels of the reciever. The barrel locking piece was sticking so I had to take it off and clean it too.
Handguard interior was caked in carbon from where the wrong length barrel was being used, causing the muzzle blast to hit the handguard & unburnt powder to collect in the handguard.
Had to replace the gas piston, because it was being fired without a gas piston in the gun at all. Got a new buttplate retaining pin because the old one's sling piece had broken off and got it a qd sling swivel for the front, which was missing.
Changed the grip & charging handle to green for vibes, added green magpul rail covers. Attached the Steyr 1.5× I already had for the authentic CQC optic experience. Will add a green stock when they come back in stock & a Zeiss z point as a piggyback red dot.
It runs properly now and it runs well, after a cleaning and the said parts replacements it's stopped jamming and I'm looking forward to keeping it running and taken care of.

It's still a firearm, it's made to be used and shot, but letting it get beaten to death at a rental range wasn't an option.

Agreed. When i figured out mine was unfired I knew that I was going to begin shooting it. Love mine. Possibly because of its weight it seems to be softer shooting then my new a3 m2.

Yeah, I've noticed it has the heavy 5.56 effect, like my SAR-4800, where the rifle is too heavy to be pushed around by the cartidge as long as you maintain basic control.

Wait so how can you tell if the piston is missing cause I have a gas cap that I lost three days after getting mine and it has a silver thing that is behind the sellector I kinda launched the one it had when firing and it being in the improper slot. So I replaced the cap with a hard one off Tacswap and it seems louder And I bought a KNS discarder and I still either have a quiet bolt action or a somewhat quiet gun as long as You’re not the shooter. I’m almost over it. I wished it was lime my SIG 556 yhe gas cap gir it is 80 bucks from pierce ans a thousand times more Enjoyable for the shooter. The silver piece Looks as if it comes to the cap almost and the spring behind it pushes back if I press the silver plunger in with a pen or Something. But I swear It was Way more quiet before dropping another 26O on it and 70 rounds of green tip trying to make a gun out of something I’m not even liking near as much. Kinda had my hopes up and it’s just getting expensive and gradually less of a gun . Or it seems like in losing

The silver thing is the gas piston, it and the spring & the gas plug are the three parts of the gas system. All three of these parts are needed, I don't know what you mean by you replaced the cap withh a hard one. There's a specific gas plug for suppressed fire.
