I'm just about to head to the hospital for a pulmonary appointment. (Ironic considering I've actually been feeling sleepy/groggy all day long today, haha😅)

Got my emotional support Kitty and my book to read whilst I wait.

Making my kitchen a little bit more whimsy

I've been sighing over the Lenox spice village for a decade now, but as a European they're impossible to get for any kind of reasonable prices. But then Flying Tiger did a little collection of more simple houses, and I pounced 🥹 everyone keeps telling me it's ugly as sin, but I'm so happy about it.

The ears on my Totaro backpack were breaking off so I added some bows to reinforce them and cover up the cracks.

Where do you get your whimsy decor?

Previously lived alone for many years and my home was truly my sanctuary, was a reflection of me, felt whimsical, feminine, and so welcoming.
Moved in with my partner a few years ago and through blending of homes and a few moves, I’ve really lost my sense of a home that feels like me. Desperately trying to bring that feeling back.

Please don’t tell me about big box stores, I’m not buying my whimsy from Target thank you.
I frequent thrift stores and have found some things here and there but you really have to dig.

Mushroom decor is my favorite, have a ton of little decor things. Anything earthy, green, or weird and colorful. I have house plants but have to keep them in a greenhouse outside because my cats are heathens, so no real plants or anything inside unfortunately.

I customized my emotional support weighted Hello Kitty plush by giving her a little lace trim (before & after) 🎀

I had this random scrap piece of lace that I didn't know what I wanted to do with it but then I looked at my Hello Kitty plush, then at the lace again, and then I loosely draped the lace on her bow to see what it'd look like...

...and after 3½ hours, 200 tries and 50 dozen needle pricks later, I ended up with this! I only know how to do a basic stitch and a ladder stitch so my stitchwork was kinda an inbetween mix of those two.

It's not the greatest, but it's also not too bad.... (Just don't look too closely at it😅)

But I think it turned out cute and I was looking for a way to make my plushie special to me, plus lace is always cute and pretty🩷

So grateful to have stumbled across a page where we can be whimsical, everyday, and encourage each other to surround ourselves with whimsy
(=´∀`)人(´∀`=)

I have been told my relic of a phone is whimsical, and honestly, it really does fill me with whimsy (*´∇`*)

So behold my Hello Kitty K688+

A phone that really has made my everyday somehow a little better even with a lot of what I’ve been going through recently.

Can’t wait to discover more of your whimsical ways ‘o life too (^◇^)

What I saw, read, listened to and did this week to feel good

Here is what I’ve been up to this week. :)
It’s not all that interesting, but it lets me keep a sort of online journal.

Maybe this will interest some people. :)
P.S. I say "this week," but since it’s Monday, I was actually referring to last week. :)

For those wondering, I'm a 21-year-old girl. :)

What I watched: ( movies and series)

- The Spiderwick Chronicles movie: I'm a huge fan of Holly Black and her books, and since The Spiderwick Chronicles is the only film adaptation of her work, I really enjoy watching it, sometimes. :)

- Barbie and The Three Musketeers movie: I mostly watched it out of nostalgia because it was one of my favorite Barbie movies when I was little. :)

- The Spiderwick Chronicles series: I was a bit apprehensive about this series adaptation of the books; even though there was huge potential, I have to say that given the cliffhanger ending and the fact that a second season was cancelled, I was left feeling unsatisfied.

- Tangled The Series: I really loved finishing this series! All the characters are interesting, and it adds a real plus to the original movie. My favorite song is "Ready As I'll Ever Be."

What I read:

- Starlight ( Skye Lauren): I read it last week, but I read it again because it’s incredible! It’s a wonderfully magical and romantic retelling featuring an adult Peter Pan and Wendy, with absolutely no intimate scenes. If you love Peter Pan and enjoyed the 2003 movie but were frustrated by the ending, read this! Please give this book a chance, it’s a real gem! ^^

- The Darkest Part Of The Forest ( Holly Black): Yes, Holly Black again but I plan to reread all her books! ^^ (I first discovered The Spiderwick Chronicles when I was six.) For those who have read this book: I really loved the beautifully described settings and the character of Hazel, whom I found very powerful!

- Epochs Of Fashion: Victorian Era article: I’m a huge fan of Victorian fashion (even though many aspects of the era weren't exactly cheerful), but I really enjoyed reading this article, which is illustrated with wonderful period engravings. :)

Link to the post if you want to read it: https://www.epochs-of-fashion.com/the-epochs/victorian-era/

What I listened to:

- Once Upon A Broken Heart (Stephanie Garber) audiobook on Soundcloud: I had already read it, but listening to it was really nice. :)

- Sunflower ( Post Malone and Swae Lee): It was my song of the summer!

- Michael Jackson's album Dangerous: My favorite album! My favorite songs are: Remember the Time, In The Closet, Give In to Me, Heal the World, Gone Too Soon, and Dangerous. :)

In case you're wondering, I was already a fan of Michael before the biopic. :)

Link to listen to the Once Upon A Broken Heart audiobook: https://soundcloud.com/ng-c-linh-b-i-975948688/once-upon-a-broken-heart

What I did:

- I did some tiding up

- I bought a DVD of Ever After High: I got it for €3; it includes the first three episodes of Season 1. :)

- I’ve been getting ready for the start of the school year, which is in a week for me: I'm at university, so my start date is later. :)

What I watched ( On Youtube):

- The Terrifying Brilliance of Mother Gothel ( from the YouTube channel Smarty Pants)

- SLEEPING BEAUTY (1959) - Disney's Most UNDERRATED Masterpiece | Video Essay ( from the YouTube channel Gab Art and Film)

- The Avatar The Last Airbender Iceberg Explained ( from the YouTube channel Overanalyzing Avatar)

- The real Mulan story ( from the YouTube channel TaleTwineDot)

So, that's everything I did this week! :)

Feel free to share what you've been up to! :)

P.P.S.: Once classes start up again, I'll have less time to put together these little weekly recaps, so I'll be doing them every now and then. :)

“new” kitchen cabinets

My kitchen needed a big dose of whimsy and fun— I’ve been painting these battling friends & flowers to fill my cabinets and enjoy a slow going mural project <3

*art notes*
- colors & paint are leftover house paint I wanted to use up (luck made it a fabulous combo)
- black outlines made w posca
- no treatment (yet?) to seal art
- freehand sketches
- initial inspo from a sticker from a friend
- timeline: 3 months so far (no deadline)

Two more main panels to complete next:
1: quail w flail
2: pigeon with battle axe
