PSA: Amazon Ads will yank your design

After getting dinged on royalty rates, I figured I'd give Amazon Ads a whirl. The plan was to spend enough to get past the 15% mark. I put my best selling design in ads. A few days later, the design was removed. This design had been live for years, had plenty of reviews, very low returns. I emailed support and they said it was due to issues with the artwork. I guess when an ASIN gets into ads, it goes through the Ads quality validation algo. No recourse if the AI gods reject it. Be careful what you put in ads folks.

Phone Case Quality

I’ve had several one star reviews complaining about the terrible quality of the IPhone 17 case. They say the two pieces don’t go together properly and don’t fit the phone. Has anyone else had bad reviews for phone cases lately?

Amazon MOD seller application - Instant denial prior to actual application page

I've just been preparing to submit my 3rd application to become an Amazon MOD seller - new account email, new application statement all written etc.

This time I never even got as far as filling out my details; I clicked on 'Sign Up' and got "We appreciate your interest, but your account request has been declined. We thank you for taking the time to introduce yourself to us and encourage you to check out selling options on Amazon".

Is this the final word on any chance of my becoming an MOD seller, or is there a way forward? Any advice appreciated...

What (new) product type is selling the most for you?

Hello, I'm curious if anyone is finding luck with any of the newer product types that were made available in the past year. This includes any of the comfort colors items, crop tops, baseball hats/trucker hats, mugs, tumblers and water bottles.

I've been finding zero luck with these items. Out of all of these new product types combined, I've maybe sold 10 items. 99% of my sales are T-shirts and hoodies, which is what I plan to focus on going forward. I've literally sold one mug, and I thought mugs were going to be game changers for me lol.

What's everyone else's experience?

Thanks!

I made an app.

I got tired of writing the same listing four times, so I built a thing. Wondering if I'm the only one.

Background: I sell on Merch, TeePublic, and Etsy via Printify. Every design meant writing a Merch listing (brand/feature bullets, 2000 char limit), a TeePublic listing (different tag logic), and an Etsy listing (front-loaded title, 13 tags, structured description). Same design, four sets of rules, an hour of my life each time.

So I built a Chrome extension that does all of it from one panel. Upload the design, it reads the image, pulls ranked keywords, and generates the listing for each platform in that platform's format.

The part I actually use most: it connects to my Etsy shop and looks at what actually sold, then regenerates listings off my real winners instead of guessing. My best seller last year did 886 units and I've been mining it ever since.

I've been running it privately for about a year, it's on version 2.49, and it's stable enough that I'm wondering whether other people would want it.

Not selling anything today, I don't even have a landing page. Just want to know if this is a me problem or an everybody problem. If you'd use it, say so and I'll follow up when it's ready.

Happy to answer anything about how it works.

I Just Tiered Up

To my surprise, I just jumped from 2k to 4K sometime this week. I'm kind of surprised because I had made the decision to let this account idle as I ran out of room for growth on merch. I've been pretty inactive since the end of Q4 as I didn't want to delete any old designs to give life to new ideas.

Here's some data: I did not have anywhere near 80% designs sold, I'm instead in the 40% ballpark. What I do have though is well over 20K total sales and I maxed out my 2K designs long ago. IMO, I've been long overdue for this tier up.

So if anyone reading is in a similar position, you could be getting a surprise too!

Can you Delete top selling Merch Design and then list it as Seller Fulfilled and do printify?

Can you delete your MERCH design completely and then relist it as seller fulfilled to use printiy or other POD?

Is it against amazon or is it seen as negative? Will deleting the design remove it from amazon merch database?

Processing taking days and tried to list tanks they just announced are no longer available.

I decided to get back into this, uploaded something friday evening to regular tee, tank and crop top, went into processing then review so stopped uploading through the weekend. Monday woke up and it was already processing, uploaded another design to the same products and went into review a couple hours then into processing.

All processing still 36+ hours later, in the past it'd usually go live same day once processing, do things normally take longer now on average?

Also, while these went into processing they announced womens tanks as of yesterday are unavailable, replacement style not coming for weeks and only listings with sales would migrate. What will likely happen to the design I tried uploading to tanks that wont have an available style for weeks? I assume it could be stuck in processing forever or time out before new versions available. Could this cause the other products to be stuck in processing along with it since they were all done together?

Kinda sucks, I wanted to specifically advertise the tank tops to go towards getting out of creator tier only to have that option cut off for the next however many weeks as well as possibly having my currently selling tank tops cut off if they will be shown out of stock during this migration period (hopefully listed products will continue to sell and will be unaffected). Pretty discouraging first steps towards putting effort into this again :/

Royalty Tiers Explained Please? 15% of what? 2 months consecutive or averaged?

The explanation on amazons policy page says 15% of unit sales... does this mean specifically for example 15 shirts sold out of 100 total? Or is price/cost factored in? Like $15 worth of sales out of $100 total in sales revenue?

So if we sell 85 shirts organically with high listing price we can advertise and sell 15 low priced shirts and we'll get bumped up out of the creator tier?

Is there a minimum volume needed to reach any royalty tiers? If someone's extremely low volume and sells only 10 shirts over 2 months but 2 of those shirts sold from ads (20% and let's say 1 out of 5 for each month if it's not averaged across the 2 months) do they qualify to get out of creator tier or would they be stuck in creator unless they reach a minimum sales volume?

And we have to maintain this % for 2 months to be able to get out of creator tier for 1 month and have to consistently maintain that rate for every 2 month period behind every 1 month we are out of creator tier (so if we don't hit 15% one month we'll automatically be excluded for the next two months til that low % month drops off?). Is it an average of 2 months, if you make 10% of volume through ads in 1 month and then make 20% volume from ads the next month do they average to 15% for the period or is it more like even if you have 100% volume from ads 1 month but the next month you get 14% from ads you're still screwed for 2 months until that 14% month is out of the calculation period?

Royalty Tier: Plus

I started the new royalty structure at T100, Creator. I started ads on June 1st, reluctantly. I managed to drive about 18% sales from May 18th through July 19th. The dates are my understanding of the first AMZ royalty review period. I was tiered up to T500 sometime in mid July. August 1st my Royalty Group changed to Plus. Here's the rub. The ads cost about 10% more than the earned royalties. The next 30 days or so are the test. Do the Plus royalties now cover the cost of ads and leave a profit? I knew I'd lose money. I considered it tuition. Now let's see if there is a return on the investment AND can I sustain it. Otherwise, I abandon ads and rely on organic sales only.

Why does Amazon have a size limit for custom shirt designs?

I was going to include a picture of the design, but this subreddit wouldn't let me. I wanted to make a custom shirt with large text across the back and an image on the front that's personal to me and my friend. I was hoping the text could be big, similar to a lot of the shirts people sell online, but Amazon only lets you print within a much smaller area. I've already tried a few different sellers.

Why is there such a strict size limit? Is it because of the printing method they use, or is there another reason? I was expecting to be able to make something with big, bold text that covers more of the shirt.

If you're posting on Reddit, this version sounds natural while keeping your original meaning.

New royalties made this pointless.

I'd been on merch for like 8 years or so, at the peak for me I had single months where I made up to a few thousand bucks. In the last few years as rejections continuously got more sensitive and more random i slowly just stopped uploading because I didn't want to get too many rejections for random words that just happen to appear next to each other in a sentence triggering some random copyright and get deactivated but even then it became actually passive income, without doing anything anymore I was still getting anywhere from $250 to $500 a month for a very long time because I created good products that would last in the marketplace.

Now immediately from the time they changed royalties this time, I am making less than $100 a month even though my sales numbers are about the same. It's such a shame we all built up billions of dollars worth of designs selling across the worlds biggest marketplace for the richest company in america just to have our pay cut down to scraps while they continue to get even richer off the years and years of work we've already done.

This used to be a big help at the very end of the month having extra money come in to help sustain me and my family until the next month starts and now what i'm getting is practically no help at all, one trip to the store for 10 to 15 things and money is gone and sucks if moneys already tight at the end of the month and I actually need 20 things when my amazon pay comes in, it's just enough to decide what 5 or 6 things i can't afford to get until next month.

I'm grateful that I had the opportunity to make some money off this site for close to a decade but pretty sad that all of a sudden it's all but come to an end simply because they decided one day we didn't deserve to get paid anymore.

How? Just how??

I recently sold the new value shirt on the Italian market, I priced it to $19.99 giving me a $6.8 or something in royalty. Surprise! I go 1 Euro. Yes I'm in the Creator category T2k but still... it's just a fckn joke. Anyone got his anomaly or just me drawing the short straw.
