As an atheist, it has come to my attention that promiscuous people tend to get much more free passes than LGBT people. Now I understand that standard Christian doctrine discourages people from that, however, the experiences I've had with Christians is completely opposite to that.

To put it simply, promiscuous people are NOT held to the same standard, especially promiscious men. There are no laws dictating how many people aomeone can sleep with. There isn't public outrage when someone (more specifically, a man) sleeps around. There are no protests saying promiscuous people can't marry. There is no outrage when a "womanizer" character is portrayed in media.

So what's the deal? It doesn't feel consistent at all. If all sexual sin is held in the same regard, than why not publicly rally against promiscuous people the same way you do against LGBT people? Now of course I have no problem with people who want to sleep around or not, but why can't Christians seem to be consistent eith their beliefs in sexual sin?

As a final point, I'd like to add that my points primarily apply to men. Women who sleep around are MUCH more scrutinized than men are, and again, it doesn't feel consistent or make sense.

what do yall think of the huge majority of atheist male(or female) YouTubers who tried to debunk Christianity or the concept of a God overrall?

This is of course referencing Genesis 3, where Adam and Eve eat from the tree of knowledge of good and evil in order to gain wisdom.

After they gain that knowledge they cover themselves in clothes and God gets mad at them, expelling them from Eden and cursing them to have severe pain, with the reason given for them being expelled, that if they got access to the tree of life, they would be like God.

What are the implications here? Why is knowing good and evil such a bad thing that it causes God to react in such a way? Should an omnibenevolent God not favor precisely that knowledge?

Apart from religious books and their stories (bible/OT, Torah), what good evidence is there for the existence of the OT character called Moses, mass enslavement of Hebrews by the Egyptian, or the exodus of such people en masse and led by Moses (followed by 40 years of wandering in the desert)?

If the bible says jesus IS god, but also alludes that he is NOT god which are we to believe?

I've believed in God for as long as I can remember, though I didn't know about Jesus until around the age of 12. It was primarily my grandmother who taught me about him, but I didn't really struggle to believe in God at any later point in my life. God just made sense to me, and I struggle to see how someone can reach adulthood without believing in God.

So I'm asking ex-atheists who have become Christians: What do you believe kept you from believing in God? Do you believe it was primarily due to cognitive dissonance?

Because this belief fundamentally changes how Christians answer certain questions.

i’m in a very difficult situation as a Christian. I don’t which objection is true or not.(same thing with counter) and I feel empty whenever I try anything really. But that’s not my main topic. I just want to your argument for him and what you truly believe he existed. whether through miracles, a dream, a vision, or just having so much evidence for him that you couldn’t deny him. I just wanna know. peace.

As the title asks, why are Christians opposed to abortion when the Bible depicts God commanding the killing of innocent children and infants?

1 Samuel 15:3 states:

“Now go, attack the Amalekites and destroy everything they own as an offering to the Lord. Don’t let anything live. Put to death men and women, children and small babies, cattle and sheep, camels and donkeys.”

If Christians argue that deliberately ending innocent human life is inherently immoral, how is this reconciled with a passage in which God explicitly commands the killing of children and infants?

It seems contradictory to claim that killing an unborn child is inherently wrong while simultaneously accepting that God could command the killing of infants and, by implication, pregnant women.

If the act of killing is morally wrong in itself, what principle makes it permissible when God commands it but immoral when a human being does it?

If everyone who is saved goes to heaven, what do you think God originally intended for the earth? Like, was earth just temporary, or was it actually supposed to be our home? And if it was supposed to be our home, why would God change that plan?

I know this must’ve been asked here dozens of times, but I joined here just to ask this.
Can a Christian who truly believes in God, be forgiven for ending his/her own life?
What if they’re asking for repentance as they’re doing it?

I’m asking this because I see too many Christians(and othr religious believer) be jerks. seem with atheism.

Why do people post things in r/TrueChristian seem designed to damage other people's faith in God or start arguments? Maybe the community reinforces their beliefs. For me, seeing these posts makes me feel hopeless and makes salvation seem extremely difficult or impossible, while the people making those posts seem to think they're spiritually ‘in the good.
