Hi everyone,

We’re a team of 5 CS students looking for ideas for our final-year project.

We have good experience in backend and frontend development and some basic AI/ML knowledge, but we're not advanced in AI yet.

We have around 4 months to prepare and learn before implementation starts, followed by another 4 months for development. However, we'll have other courses and exams during that time, so it won't be full-time.

We're looking for a project that:

- Is mainly a web application

- Is large enough for 5 students

- Has substantial backend/frontend work

- Uses AI/ML for something meaningful, without being just an AI wrapper

- Is challenging but realistic within our timeframe

Ideas I liked so far are malware detection and system failure/anomaly prediction platforms. I like the idea of AI being one part of a larger system with things like data processing, dashboards, APIs, monitoring, etc.

I'd love to hear ideas in a similar direction, especially projects that solve a real-world problem.

every time I ask this question people give me silly answers like 'mcdonalds is not a good reference' . mind you I handled the playplace incidents and I also made the local birthday booking page responsive (on mobile) but let's keep that aside now, I accept thats not impressive.

If my jquery and html knowledge is outdated, If I need to write react code and a job is guaranteed, then tell me na. I will start today. But what do you mean “just keep trying”, “build projects”, “have patience”?? what exactly am I supposed to build?

so I'm starting DSA prep from scratch (2nd year, trying to get ahead for internships, placements next year, panicking a bit ngl) and everyone I ask recommends something different lol

some seniors said just do striver's sheet start to finish, some say leetcode is enough if you're consistent, and gfg has like a whole dsa course + articles for everything but idk if its outdated or still good in 2026

anyone actually used more than one of these and can tell me the real difference? like which one is better for actually understanding concepts vs just grinding problems

also open to other suggestions if I'm missing something obvious

I’m an AI graduate and recently I was given a computer vision project to complete within a limited timeline as part of a research opportunity.
The project itself is not my main concern. What is worrying me is that I feel much more comfortable understanding concepts than implementing them completely on my own.
For a long time, I used AI tools as learning assistants while building projects. They helped me understand ideas faster, but now I feel like I have become too dependent on them when it comes to coding.
If I have to build a project completely by myself, I often get stuck at questions like:
How do I structure the code?
How do I decide what files and modules to create?
How do I debug issues efficiently?
How do I move from understanding a concept to implementing it independently?
I know many people use documentation, GitHub repositories, papers, Stack Overflow, and AI tools, but I’m curious about how experienced researchers and engineers actually work.
If you were given around 3–4 weeks to complete a computer vision project, what would your learning and development approach look like?
I’m trying to become more independent and build stronger fundamentals rather than relying on generated code.
Any practical advice would be appreciated.

Amazon has a super appropriate culture. Also, if he's remotely handsome and older than 35, he's partnered off. It's like working at Amazon wards off divorce. Lucky wives!

My Experience at a startup : Need Advice i feel so Low and worthless Help Hi everyone

Im a cse graduate from a tier 3 university ( 26 passed out) and ive joined an early stage startup

Like its a team of 3 including me

The role ive been given is associate software engineer being my second job as a fresher i accepted it as i wanted the STARTUP experience

I even left a fintech mnc at banglore ( can't name) to work in this org and this happens to be my biggest mistake of life.

The first month was fine we had good interactions and I had good learning

He ( The Founder) asks me to learn tech stack and i put all my efforts i dont even take breaks while they take breaks of hours and be inside a closed room. I learn continuously from various Resources

The interesting thing

The founder and another employee basically a woman spend the whole day together they even spend time by closing the doors of a room utmost privacy is required idk why

I feel so lonely throughout as ive no one to share my feelings discuss ideas or even talk to.

Whatever I learn he asks questions in a way i dont understand

When i cant answer he shouts raising my anxiety to another level

He even put me in probation after 2 months and deducted my salary to half

While the offer letter had a salary written clearly

I cycle all the way ~10 kms one way just to work for him

only to be left alone and get abused

Then how would you fit the topics of programming lingo into the above levels?

I’m a mid-level software engineer. I can ship features and pass reviews, but I don’t feel like I’m actually *good* at writing clean code or designing systems. I feel like I’m pattern-matching rather than truly understanding tradeoffs. This isn’t about interview prep, I’m not job hunting. I want to genuinely level up as an engineer.

A few specific questions:

1. What books, videos, or podcasts actually moved the needle for you on code quality and design judgment, what genuinely changed how you think?
2. For someone past the “learn to code” stage but not yet confident in design judgment, is there content that bridges that gap specifically?
3. How do you use AI coding tools (Copilot, Claude Code, etc.) in a way that builds your skill rather than atrophying it? I don’t want to just accept AI output, I want to use it to get better, but I’m not sure what that looks like in practice. Any resources on this specifically?
4. For system design, is there a difference between “interview system design” content and what you’d actually recommend for building real day-to-day design intuition?

Not looking for a reading list I’ll never finish. More interested in resources that people actually found valuable, and why, especially now that AI can generate code faster than most of us can evaluate it. I’m more of a visual learner and audiobooks also work best as I don’t have time to sit and read

Just graduated this year, looking for a role that’s virtual if possible or based in NYC. I’ve been looking on Builtin and WayUp for first time roles, but anything I should be skilling up in?

I started coding about a year ago and fell in love with it. I found a 12 month in person course that teaches me different languages as well as work readiness for code by putting us in mock work environments. In the beginning I would jot down what I learnt and applied it to what exercises were given to me . Soon I realised the pacing was a bit much and it messed up my learning so I relied on AI to debug and give me notes for resources I did not know where to look for when I went wrong-I was still denying wanting to use AI at that point still for all my work only when really needed.

After doing projects such as e-commerce and being put into a work environment that gives us a brief to complete in 4 week with a roadblock I realised not only me but my whole team relied on AI when we were not meeting deadlines we created for that 4 weeks . I am now put into a smaller team and redoing the same briefs that we used for the working Sims but I realised it made me rely too much on AI . How do I take away this reliance on AI and go back to what I did before on just learning and doing it like how I use to .

Tl;dr : Working simulation deadlines as well as not knowing where to go for resources made me rely to much on AI for work and I want to change that and go back to how I was before.

I will be honest, I can write backend APIs, connect to the database, that's it for starters. Rest I can figure out.

I was wondering there was a service that exists that has real-time text to speech? I wanted to get back into streaming, but im currently somewhere with really thin walls and i dont want to annoy my neighbours

I've been a coder for about a year, and I'm still learning a lot of things but I do not have any friends or anyone close to me that can teach me the 'secrets' or the hacks for this, like, what can I add to my projects or something like that, AI can answer that but it feels unnatural. So... what do you think I should focus on right now? Any tips would be super appreciated!

Everytime I ask this question, people be like oh your github is not impressive . mind you I have Task queue system, rtmp server from scratch, json based rudimentary sql engine but let's keep that aside now, I accept that that's not impressive.
