My cat, unfortunately, is very well known at my vet office. She is an absolute psycho. I have to give her 4ml of gabapentin before bringing her to the vet to get sedated. I have been taking her to the same vet clinic - a local Banfield (I know people have opinions but I truly love my local clinic and I have a wellness plan, so her sedation and dental cleanings are covered) - since she was a kitten, and trust me, she has put them through hell and back and I feel awful about it. Before we figured out how psycho she is, I often would have to go to the back of the clinic, where regular people are not allowed, to grab her from her cage.

I take her for yearly checkups and whenever I need to, but I know that her presence causes them to have a bad day even though she is asleep for the entire appointment lol. I want to bring them some snacks, like maybe a mixed bag of candy and Red Bulls or something (since I always see them drinking energy drinks) and a thank you card for always managing her well and helping me be a good cat mom.

Would this be frowned upon? I don’t want to be the weird patient or overstep or anything.

I’m a proponent of spay aborts since I think we have so many animals that already need homes, but I feel like I always see it done on cats. Is that because it’s less risky for them than dogs? Are there more cats that are coming in pregnant? Do people view dogs and cats so differently that they would rather a pregnant dog carry the puppies to birth?

Today I took my 11 year old female cat to the vet for routine bloodwork and a refill of her asthma inhaler. They wanted to do bloodwork before giving her the steroid. She is a very chill cat and her physical exam was unremarkable, they said she looked healthy and lungs and heart sounded great. They even said she was so chill during the exam.

They take her back to do bloodwork, and I noticed it was taking quite a while. Finally after about 45 minutes a nurse comes back and tells me that my cat “had an episode” and was in the oxygen chamber because she was open mouth breathing. They said they wanted her to calm down before bringing her back to me. I was of course anxious but they acted like this was not an uncommon reaction and that it was okay. My cat is 11 years old and has bloodwork and dental cleanings done every year, and this has never happened to my knowledge.

When they finally brought her back to me after an hour, she seemed a bit off. She was scared in the back of her carrier but otherwise normal. However when I walked her to the car, she started open mouth breathing and drooling. She also urinated on herself. I turned around and went back in to talk to the vet. In hindsight I should have done this before I even walked out but the nurses felt like things were normal.

The vet told me that she had reacted while they were drawing blood and started panting as a side effect of her asthma. The vet was knowledgeable and kind and I trust her. But I’ve just never seen this reaction from my cat before. She has had asthma for 8 years. The vet said she was just stressed from the vet environment and needed to go home to calm down.

We are back home now and she hasn’t panted or open mouth breathed for about four hours now. However she’s acting very lethargic. She ate a little bit of dinner but not much. I understand things happen at the vet office and not every animal reacts well. I don’t fault the vet or the nurses but I’m still just confused and wondering what could have happened. My cat is usually very chill and vet visits don’t phase her. She’s behaving so pitifully now and I’m worried something more serious is wrong.

I am just very distraught with this decision I need to make, and am unsure if it is the right time to consider euthanasia. My girl was diagnosed with HCM 18 months ago and the cardiologist gave her a survival timeline of 12-18 months. In a lot of ways she seems like her normal self, I give her a diuretic twice a day and she was prescribed a blood thinner but it has been h*ll trying to give her the blood thinner because of the size and taste of the pill. I have tried everything..crushing it in her food, wrapping it in a treat made for administering meds, crushing it and mixing it with water and giving it to her with a syringe in her mouth..nothing works well and it has changed our relationship.
I notice she has pain and slight atrophy in her hind legs. She also experiences some labored breathing, but not mouth open gasping/gulping, she has coughed a few times though, but not daily. I took the Lap of Love quality of life questionnaire and she’s right in the middle range of the score. This is just so hard. I don’t want to call it too soon, but I also work a lot and live alone and I would hate for her to have an episode when I’m not there. Despite working a lot I don’t have a lot of extra money for emergencies. Should I decide to euthanize her before it gets too bad?? I’m so confused on what I should do. 😢

Yesterday I took her to the vet because I’ve noticed some behavioral changes in my 5yo unspayed rottie (got her from my mom who refused to spay her for whatever reason) like increased sleepiness, lack of appetite, and nonstop panting. I also noticed a bit of vaginal discharge running down her leg for the first time that morning which is the main reason I decided to take her in. I’m broke so we just started off with an ultrasound to see the urgency of the situation where they said everything seemed perfectly fine and they realized she was also lactating. It’s confirmed she’s experiencing a false pregnancy at this point but she still keeps producing a lot of discharge that’s a very milky yellowish green.
I was thinking about taking her in today again to do blood tests because I hate not knowing for sure whether she’s is life threatening danger or not but I was thinking it might just be cheaper if we just get her spayed right now instead of doing all of these tests.
My issue is that I’m not sure if I can just skip to the ovariohysterectomy part without doing further tests. Since she didn’t seem to have swelling or any issues in her uterus through the ultrasound does that mean she’s safe to be spayed? Or would I still have to run all of the tests before moving on to a spay. Unfortunately I am incredibly broke and trying to find an apartment as my lease ends soon so I’m wondering what’s the best move.

hi all, i’m trying to make this short so there’s gonna be a few missing spots.
i have a chihuahua mutt and something else mix, who’s about 12 years old. we’ve had him since he was 6 months. i am 18. he has been here for every accomplishment, struggle, and just about every breakdown anyone in the family has had.
we know he has a tumor or two (i’m not sure where & can’t ask my mom right now), but they’ve never seemed to cause too much trouble. for years, he’s done this little thing where he coughs/ wheezes a few times, then does a big dramatic “EEACK” to hack it up (nothing comes out).
well, tonight, i took him out for his last pee, and when we came up the stairs he was coughing, as he does do that sometimes after walking up the flight. about 30 seconds after we came in, my mom said “oh fck” and i ran out to see him laying down. his tongue had turned a purplish blue, and he was breathing heavily. i tried to pick him up but he just slumped back down. he looked around a bit while me and my mom were on our knees comforting him for what we thought was the end. after about 10 minutes of him VERY slowly regaining a regular breath speed, he seemed almost normal. i placed him on the couch and he looked fine, licking his lips, leaning into my ear scratches, and so on. he is still okay right now. this happened 4-5 hours ago.
my struggle/dilemma here is, how long do we have left? my mom will try to move up his vet appointment in the morning, but i’m honestly not faithful he’ll even make it. it was truly so scary, i’ve never seen something like that.
i’m not sure if this is relevant but he also used to have seizures. we never medicated him because it only happened once or twice a year, if even that.
is this the end? is this the childhood dog heartbreak everyone’s talking about? i have never been around any death, human or animal. i do not know how i grieve, or how to. i just kind of want advice or some direction, because it really was unexpected. we know he’s old and all but, he plays. he messes with you. he is so silly and the biggest angel, i truly believe he’s the best dog this world has known. he’s too good for it.

Hi all, apologies for the long post. I am 25 based in the UK I have access to a vet but worried about funds as I’ve been back and forth at the vet this past month.

My cat is a 3 years old male and a tonkinese mix, neutered, 4.56kg from 4.8kg post hospital stay.

TLDR: My cat’s nose randomly started fluctuating from bubblegum pink, he’s experiencing lethargy but eating 1 pouch wet royal canin gastrointestinal, a cup of dry royal canin digestive care, 1 pouch purina hydro life. churu treats included. not so much drinking water - two blood panels confirmed no anemia, kidney and liver functions normal.

On july 22nd miso was hospitalised for diarrhoea, a fever and lethargy. he spent three days in the hospital and was diagnosed with ileus the vets were unsure of where it came from but he wa given fluids, an abdominal scan and a whirl of medications. he was well enough to come home — his stool firmed up within a few days but he was still quiet around the house and i spoon fed him for a week until he started on his own. He was prescribed Cisaprid, Panacur and Emperid.

I took him to the vet after course of medication ended 3 days after coming home - this was just for a checkup and all vitals were good. He’d stopped drinking his water at this point too. Was told that he would likely take some time passing stool on his own and the lack of drinking water would be from having wet food only. The next week, I noticed he wasn’t passing stool at all, so went to the vet again. This was on the 4th August. He was constipated and prescribed lactulose at 1ml per day for 3 days. He was still failing to pass stool so the vet upped the dosage to 1.5ml which he was on for a week starting 7th August. Stools softened and he came off lactulose.

For two weeks he was starting to pass stool once a day, urinated normally and I started his dry food again alongside wet and a hydrocare pouch just in case as we suspected he was stealth drinking but couldn’t tell due to having multiple water bowls around the house. I noticed that on the week of August 17th his nose was beginning to have flashes of paleness instead of pink — I suspected dehydration because of the heatwave, he would be more active early hours of the day and late at night but sleep for most of the day (whilst eating). I took him to the vet 19th August and of course in the car his nose pinked up bright pink — vitals were all good and we were sent home.

On the 24th we were back at the vet as his nose had gone white a few times over the weekend and he remained sleepy during the day. Still eating — emergency vet was called and they advised to visit the clinic monday as he was still eating. Drew bloods on 24th, all came back good and we were prescribed B12 pills for the lethargy. He was with a sitter until Friday, he was doing well eating all meals and playing. Nose was pretty pink according to the sitter and videos. Blood was drawn again on the 26th to be sent off to the lab and all results came back clean. My vet was happy and said none of the expected values from the CBC or Biochemistry were out of the ordinary. (if needed I will call and ask for a copy).

Now over the weekend it seems like he has reverted. His nose is a salmon pink to pale pink most of the day, he’s toileting as normal peeing and passing stool every day. I think he’s getting tired of the royal canin wet so this evening I’ll try his regular food but he is continuing to eat the dry. Today his nose went white for a second and is now a pale pink lbut his gums seem okay.

I’m just at a loss for what to do next, he is not anemic according to the vet but he is so sleepy during the day. He started moving around a bit more today on his own but I’m still concerned. I’m losing sleep over this I’m watching him like a hawk but I don’t know how to proceed and what questions to raise with the vet next. Should I be looking for anything specific? I think I’m going to call again this evening — I spoke with them earlier about his bloods but he was looking okay then. Many thanks

hello! I am really worried about this. my cat ate one of my hairs, and later after she used the litter box I saw her scooting on the floor. I went to help her because the hair was tangled around the pieces of stool and it seemed like she needed help getting it out. I got the poop and hair out easily but then checked google, and apparently pulling a hair out of them in this way can cut up their intestines. I am absolutely terrified that I harmed her. she didnt react in pain and ate twice, and it's been almost 4 hours of normal behavior, but I am so scared. I spoke to 5 different emergency vets on the phone who all assured me it should be fine, but I cannot stop thinking about it and wondering if it harmed her intestines. she has not vomited; she is just resting now, acting totally normal. has anyone had this happen before? is there any reassurance possible? I do have severe OCD so that's contributing as well, I am just so afraid for her :(

Took my cat to the vet early this morning as she was hiding under the bed yowling in pain. She was normal yesterday. Vet took an X-ray and determined that her lower vertebrae were too close together, causing pain. He gave her a steroid shot and a laser treatment and they kept her for about 6 hours for observation. There was no bloodwork done and I don't believe fluids were given because she does not have any shaved spots on her legs and there was no mention of it on the $400 invoice.

When I asked about longterm care, the vet described the back pain as a flare that can be treated with steroids as needed. He said to keep her from jumping around for at least a week. When I picked her up, I was told she looked "so much better" than when I first dropped her off but it has been about 7 hours since we have been home and she does not look good. She barely moves, hasn't eaten, and as far as I can tell she hasn't been drinking either. I tried to entice her to drink with no luck.

I set up a recovery crate so that she can't attempt to jump up on anything or crawl into tight spaces, and when I open the crate to pet her she will lie motionless for a while and then will sporadically, desperately try to leave. When I intercept these escape attempts she will go lie in the litter box in her crate (it is a large crate with a clean, non-litter box/blanket alternative as well as flat surfaces with soft blankets and a pillow). It's hard to describe my feeling, but I get the impression that she's trying to find a private place to go die.

Am I being dramatic? I know I should trust the vet and he didn't seem overly concerned but I have not seen ANY improvement since this morning, aside from her being quieter.

my dog has been unwell for the last week, we took her to the vet a few days ago and they just informed us that she has aggressive acute leukemia. we are putting her down next week. i know nothing can be done but everything feels so wrong. she’s only eight years old and even though she’s been limping and lethargic, the medication they gave her to hold her through the next few days has her acting like her old, happy, playful self. it feels so wrong to see her like this knowing she’s being put down in a few days. idk what to do, it feels like shes healthy but i know she won’t make it past the next few weeks. just a few days ago it seemed like she had years ahead of her. is there any chance that she could heal?

I have a hungry kitten I brought in from outside. I brought her to get scanned for a microchip. A chip was found, and the vet’s office where I scanned her called the owner on the phone. I spoke to the owner and we agreed on a time and place to hand over the cat. The owner texted me to say she was running late, but then never showed up at all, and never responded to any follow up texts. I offered to reschedule the pickup, I offered to assist with the cost of the spay, and I offered to take the cat permanently if she was no longer interested. No response, and it’s been over 24 hours.

CAT INFO: 6 month old (approximate) female tortoiseshell domestic shorthair cat. I have no medical record, no vaccine history or blood test history, and I don’t even know for sure if she’s spayed. Her belly is getting slowly but noticeably larger and I am concerned she is pregnant (possibly escaped the home while in heat).

Long story short: can I take this cat to get spayed, without consent of the registered owner? The registered owner is not responding to any attempts at communication, and I would like this cat to receive medical care especially before she produces kittens. I just worry a vet will turn us away if the chip doesn’t belong to me, and I don’t know how to transfer the chip registration.

Ultimately I’m hoping to foster and re-home this kitten though a reputable rescue, as I have one cat already and would like to leave room in my home for more fosters. But I don’t know if I can get her into ANY home while the chip is registered to someone else.

I lost my most precious kitty baby four days ago,he was turning 5 in October I have been inconsolable over his loss,he was gifted to me by my parents 5 years ago when I was battling anorexia and depression and needed something to feel less alone,me and that cat were seriously attached to the hip,he would sleep with me every night sit next to me when I cried and liked being cradled like a baby,since he’s been gone I’ve felt like a part of me is gone,I can’t sleep and I can’t even look at pictures of him without crying,on the day I initially thought he was choking on a hair ball,after rushing him to the vet and after a xray and ultra sound they found fluid in his lungs he was transported to a animal hospital for surgery to drain and test the fluid but the next morning his lungs filled back up with fluid,half of his test results came back fine but bc of the fluid in his lungs (chyle) I think it was,they assumed that he most likely had a twisted lung lobe,something the vet at the hospital told me they had never seen at that hospital before and had only happened to 20 cats in the past 50 years,I was willing to go into debt for his surgery but they didn’t know if the twisted lobe was causing the fluid and if after the invasive surgery which he could’ve died from-it had a 60% chance of survival and 40% chance he could’ve died in recovery or the fluid would build back up,i decided to put him down instead of taking the risk of him dying alone during surgery or in pain :( I feel so guilty like I have done the wrong thing,it feels so cruel I don’t understand why the universe chose my cat to be one of the “rare” or “unusual “ cases for this happening,has any vet seen one of these before and the cats been okay after ? My heart is breaking knowing the possibility he could still be here but I couldn’t bare to have him in and out of surgery to suffer,he was completely fine up until that afternoon I wish cats didn’t hide pain or discomfort so well-I miss my baby I hope he forgives me and isn’t angry at me.

In desperate need of advice here. My kitty was prescribed Prozac for her anxiety, just a tiny little half pill daily. I have tried the just placing it down her throat method, crushing into food method, pill pusher method, pill pocket method, the list goes on. She will not do it. She will trash her head around until it comes out (even if she’s in a burrito), and will purposefully avoid treats that she likes because she knows that her medicine is in it. She knows when it isn’t. She’s outsmarted me and all my methods. She’s anxious, I’m anxious because she’s anxious. Please help! 🐈‍⬛

My 7 year old Australian shepherd sheltie mix has oral melanoma. He had a tumor the size of a small grape on his upper lip. We had the tumor removed and they also had to remove multiple teeth. Hes healed up just fine since the surgery and is acting totally normal. Unfortunately our vet said there wasn't much else she could do other than referring us to an oncologist. We live in a rural area and the nearest one is an hour and a half drive. Further treatment is also simply out of our price range. So we really have no idea what stage hes at. Anyone have experience with this disease? Im just wondering how much time he may have left and how it might progress. Our vet did tell us she could provide pain management medicine at some point. He seems fine and totally healthy at the moment.

My dog is a 7 year old male neutered chi mix, about 10 lbs. Two weeks ago he stopped eating and developed a fever and mysterious signs of pain. After many blood tests, ultrasound, x rays, steroids and antibiotics we still do not have a diagnosis. The internal medicine doc is doing a joint tap on my dog right now, she suspects immune mediated polyarthritis. My regular vet made it sound like it was a manageable disease with good quality of life. The internal med doc made it sound like a long, drawn out relapsing disease with a fair amount of suffering. What are the vets thoughts and experiences with IMPA? TIA

My 11 month old cat has been having skin issues for the past 6 months. She gets these huge scabs around her mouth, chin, above her eyes and behind her ears and occasionally on the back of her neck.

When it started out, we were told it was cat acne and treated it with wipes, cleanings, new bowls, new food that was less greasy and new water bowls.

Then it got worse so we took her to a new vet. The vet treated her for mites as he was concerned it was demodex. So he gave her nexguard and tresaderm drops for her ears and scabs. We did the drops for a week, then stopped for a week and then resumed for another week. When using the drops, they go away. But they came back so we took her back and he treated her for demodex mites again. And told us to do another round of tresaderm.

The scabs and hair loss came back AGAIN so we started her in a food elimination diet using HA purina. She is on week 2 out of a 8-12 week trial.

Her scabs and patches of fur loss is overwhelming. Poor baby has such bad scabs that she’s picking them off and having bleeding wounds on her face. He told us to continue the tresaderm for now. But I’m just so concerned. He said he does not think it is FIV at all and is almost certain it’s a food allergy. She was tested for ring worm and it was negative. No blood test done yet.

Does anyone have any advice or insight they can offer? We’ve been to the vet 3 times in the last 1 1/2 months and we will continue to take her back until we have answers but I’m wondering if anyone can think of anything that maybe we’re missing.

So earlier today I took my dog who is a Pomeranian to get neutered and he's 2 years old. When I picked him up the vet told me to give my dog a pill and a half so like 75mg of trazodone at 7pm which is what I did. It 12:30am and he's like acting weird. I thought the pill would help him be more calm but he just looks more anxious than calmed. It's supposed to be once every 12 hours for 6 days but I'm scared to give him more pills tomorrow morning 🥲 they also gave me another medication that I'm supposed to give once a day for three days but I'm also scared to give him that one as well I'll be calling the clinic tomorrow but I guess I won't be sleeping tonight

My dog (M, 9 years old, hound-Rottweiler-other mix) has a ton of lumps, bumps, skin tags, and moles that began showing up several years ago and seem to multiply. The vet examines them at his yearly physical, and some of the larger lumps have been biopsied, but this mole is either newer or has grown in the last six months or so. It’s pink with dark edges, and it’s recently been bleeding. It looks different that the other small growths, which are all skin colored or black.

Is it anything we should be concerned about or call the vet about? He has some other health issues, and I don’t want to bother the vet if this seems normal.

So my dog recently had pyometra surgery. She was doing really well post op and would go on morning walks to pee. On day 5, she refused to get up and would not pee for me.
Apparently when I went for the pyometra surgery I hadn’t know that the vet had informed me of this issue. When taking an x ray for pyometra, the vet told me they say something on the spine from the x rays. (Again I was completely focused on the pyometra that I had no idea this conversation was even happening.)
Now while she’s in her recovery, I have a whole new issue to overcome and I feel so defeated. I want to rehabilitate her so she can walking again. I absolutely cannot afford surgery and I had to pull some strings to even get the pyometra surgery done. I wanna consider acupuncture, laser therapy or medication. Is there a chance she will start peeing and walking with a most cost effective method?
I have so much guilt because I still wasn’t able to help her with the surgery and now I have to put her through more. I don’t want to have to put her down and then m becoming hopeless. To make matters worse, I need to move out in a few months and she’s technically my parents dog. I won’t be able to take her with me and they’re not exactly the best pet parents. I don’t trust them to keep up with her rehabilitation process and they’re probably going to give up on her if she doesn’t gain the strength to walk again. Please guys I need help and reassurance

Olive has gone from being bright and active to deeply exhausted, stiff, and wanting only to sleep over the last 2 months. Then this last 2 weeks she suddenly started refusing her wet food. We switched her back to kibble that worked for 2 days now she turns down dry kibble regardless of toppers, broth, or plain preparation, and she won't even take her favorite treats. She’s been eating 1/4 of a cup a day now if I’m lucky.

Timeline of progression of symptoms
May 24: Brown discharge/leaking noted from multiple nipples. Pea sized lump inside one nipple
May 28: Vet visit for skin/ear issues and nipples leaking.
Received Cytopoint, Simplicef/cefpodoxime 200 mg, and Posatex.
July 16th : choked on a soft quarter size treat (coughing began.)
Aug 17: Eye problem/discharge began.
Aug 21: Urgent care visit had been regurgitating water throughout the night eye had progressed.
Started Doxycycline 100 mg, Carafate 1 g, and NeoPolyDex eye drops.
Since May: Lost approximately 7 lbs.
Aug 30: nipple with lump now feels like 4 peas and is leaking blood
Aug 31: went to follow up appt was X-rays eye pressure and dye test done
Started metoclopromide and carprofen

Current Clinical Symptoms:
Eyes: Severe fast progressing active anterior uveitis no trama (cloudiness, scleral redness, and visible bloody/cloudy fluid accumulation in the anterior chamber—photo attached with dates ).
Joints/Mobility: Joint stiffness over the last month
Respiratory: Coughing/choking spells. Interestingly, her breathing is noticeably easier when she lies on her back. Both vets said her lungs sound clear.
Systemic / Nasal: Weight loss (has lost 7 pounds since may), loss of appetite, runny nose, and thick drooling.

Current Vet Diagnosis: Went to the clinic today (8/31) for chest x-rays. The vet looked at the scans and indicated metastatic cancer, recommending palliative care.

I’ve called several clinics, but the earliest opening I can get is the end of October. My 4.5-month-old puppy breaks out in hives with every meal. I’m very concerned about the risk of anaphylaxis. My regular vet recommended pre-medicating him with Benadryl and Pepcid before feedings for now, but we need a specialist to pinpoint the underlying cause.

Hello, I have an old lady doggo (13y/GS mix/75lbs) who appears to have some vestibular symptoms that we have noticed especially around long travel events. In conjunction with this, she has had urinary incontinence that had gradually gotten to the point to where anytime she laid down she was leaking. This appears to get worse when we were traveling, but it could also be that long travel periods just gave me more opportunities to notice what was occurring. I’m wondering if anyone is able to speculate a connection.

We do have her on Proin 75mg BID for a few weeks now, which has helped, but I’m becoming aware of the potential side effects. My girl also doesn’t really want to take these tablets no matter what kind of super yummy, smelly delicious thing I mix it into, so I am trying to do my due diligence in figuring out what options to pursue as possible alternatives and root cause of the incontinence.

Adding that I do realize it could be other things, like a UTI or hormonal imbalances, I’m just wondering if there is a particular connection to vestibular symptoms.

So my dog (1.5yr old miniature dachshund) had surgery for luxating patella on the 20th of April and he seemed to heal faster than the care sheet predicted.

He doesn’t limp when walking or full speed running, but he still limps when he’s speed walking/jogging. This is how he always is on hard surfaces, on grass he used to not limp but I’ve noticed when upping the exercise like my vet recommended he’s limping on grass too, or at least light on his surgery leg (not as much as hard ground but it’s still there). Occasionally he will swap the leg he limps on, I think I’ve seen him do this around 8 times for a few seconds each time.

He has seen the vet a couple times since the surgery - 6week after surgery X-rays came back fine and about a month ago the vet felt his knee and said everything was feeling stable.

So I guess my question is, is it normal he’s still limping? Like is this just how he is and I should stop being so worried about it?

My dog is 2 years old and we live in the US. She is on RC urinary + HP for urinary crystals but refuses to eat her kibble. I generally throw it in a blender + water and she gobbles it up that way. However, I am leaving her with family for a week and so giving her kibble + a few spoons of wet food mixed in to make it palatable is easier for them. I also like to use wet food in a squeeze tube for training. RC does not have HP + urinary in a wet food variety but hills z/d has both HP + urinary s/ox.

* History: Presented on August 23rd, 2026, with severe acute symptoms. Diagnosed as FIP Positive. Currently hospitalized under intensive therapy.

* Clinical signs: Initial presentation included open-mouth breathing, tachycardia, high fever (T: 102.2°F), loose stool, and multiple episodes of frothy white vomit. Mucous membranes were pale pink.

* Duration: 5 days under continuous veterinary supervision.

Current Clinical Status & Treatment:

The patient has been hospitalized since Aug 23. Initial treatment included oxygenation support, IV fluids (RL/DNS), gastroprotectants (Pantoprazole), antiemetics (Metoclopramide), and multivitamins/antibiotics (Eldervit, Betamyal, Desophyllin).

On August 25 and 26, the temperature fluctuated between 99.9°F and 101.5°F. Remdesivir antiviral injections were started and administered on consecutive evenings. The latest daily logs note that breathing, appetite, and stool parameters are showing gradual clinical improvement.

Questions for Veterinarians:

1. Given her weight of 1.4 kg and a positive FIP diagnosis, is the current clinical response to the Remdesivir injections typical for this stage of treatment?

2. Are there specific hematological milestones (like tracking LFT, KFT, or CBC trends) that we should closely monitor this week to ensure she is out of the danger zone?

3. Since financial constraints are making long-term clinical hospitalization difficult, what criteria should she meet before it is clinically safe to transition her to an at-home oral medication protocol?
