"Old" feeling places in Athens?
Bell's grocery store (now B&T, but its still Bells to me), Mama Sid's, Nowhere Bar, what other places haven't been updated and feel like they would fit in 30+ years ago?

Tbh I never saw anyone actually go in there, but I’m sure it will be missed by someone somewhere.

Just had a terrible tragic death in the family, everyone is acting like a zombie, had no sleep, been handling everything, keeping it together for two days and need a place where I can cry alone without being bothered by police or whatever. Could I do that in a walmart parking lot?

They are Vietnam-era sheepskin flying gloves. I bought them at an estate sale on June 13. The house was Tudor style and in a neighborhood off Mitchell Bridge. These gloves are beautiful! I only tried one of them on at the time, because the one fit, and it was too hot to try on long leather gloves.
Last night, I sat and watched Flight of the Phoenix (the first one with Jimmy Stewart, not the one with Dennis Quaid) with my dying father, and he mentioned that he’d like to have a pair of flying gloves. I said hold on, and went to grab the ones I had “gotten such a good deal on” at the estate sale to give them to him (there’s nothing that man loves more than one of his children getting a good deal). I went to put them on to show them off, and they were two right handed gloves! My dad laughed his ass off.
So now, what do I do with two right hand gloves? I figured I’d try Reddit. These gloves are too nice for there to be two of us out here with a very beautiful but useless pair of gloves.
So if you or someone you know accidentally bought two left gloves at an estate sale in June, you are in luck! I’ll gladly trade you one right glove for one left glove.

I am transgender and I feel like I have lost a couple of job opportunities because I am not 100% passing. I don't want to pretend to not be to get a job but I am struggling financially working two jobs and don't know how much longer I can afford to live. Thanks for any insight y'all have.

Here’s a fun activity. Tell us, where did you live before you moved to Athens?

Editing to mention that I've found out most regular dentists don't do bone grafting, which makes sense. Looks like I'll need some oral surgeon recs instead!
Hi all.
I need some pretty intense dental work done - bone graft, implant, crowns, etc.
I've gone to McRae dental and had some bad experiences (lockjaw, lots of pain, assistants super not caring that I'm like, in agony).
I've gone to Brad Hall and he wants me to get all kinds of stuff done that I absolutely don't need (wisdom teeth out because they're "hard to clean" even though my wisdom teeth are 100% fine, not sideways or impacted or damaged, and he wants me to get Invisalign after wisdom teeth extraction to adjust my bite) and I don't have money to get stuff I don't need.
Does anyone have a dentist recommendation that does bone grafts and implants?
Hey all! Currently working on an online masters degree in social work. This semester I’m looking to do 15 hours of service work (not exactly placement or internship, more like shadowing a social worker/volunteer work, sort of the intro to placement I suppose!) and was wondering if there are any social workers on here!
It’s been a bit harder because my program is out of state so not as automatic if I was a student at UGA.
Thanks for any tips or leads you all might have!

Getting off the loop from Epps Bridge onto Atlanta Highway this morning, there was a dead animal in the new exit lane that they are paving to the right. I swear it looked like a mountain lion. Obvs that’s insane. Was it a dog? A deer? A bobcat? Am I just totally losing it?

Seems like over the past month or so my reception of 93.3 has gone down. Maybe they are transmitting at lower power or another station is stepping on them?
Anyone else experiencing the same?

One lane on the outer loop from about Timothy Road to Milledge. Can’t see anything happening in the closed lane, no idea why the lane is closed. Just plan your commute accordingly.

Any ideas when Lance-Bottoms starts fighting back? All I’m seeing right now are Jackson ads that seem to be pretty effective. At what point will Lance-Bottoms fight back? She really needs to connect him with the stuff he said during the primary. I’m getting concerned.

Fans used to watch games at the Blind Pig eastside. Since that has gone away, where are y'all watching games? Its been awhile since I've had the time to give on a Sunday.

Seriously? Bad driving has got to be a top theme of posts on this Sub.
