This intersection has a very rough patch since forever ( right next to signal if you come from Mcity) . Why is the government not fixing it?

I recently bought a 2025 silver ninja 400 second hand, and that poses a bit of a problem for me with my insurance as the ninja 400 was discontinued in 2024 and all the insurers ive tried calling up dont have a 2025 ninja 400 listed. Shannon was the only one that I've been able to get anything with but when i made a mistake and put down a 2025 ninja 500 my nrma premium was just 800/year for comprehensive, whereas the shannon comprehensive is 2900/year.

However Shannon third party is just 450/year, so I may go with that, is there anywhere that offers coverage for cases like mine where the bike was manufactured a year after discontinuation? I've struggled to find any other insurers besides Shannon that can help me.

Recently started riding again in WA.

I've started off with a HJC F70 (S Size), but f me it's getting so much wind noise, I can't hear anything else over 50-60kms. I also have earplugs. So I don't ride without them but still would benefit reducing wind noise even a couple DBs. It's not buffeting, as it starts when I get closer to the wind screen.

I am riding an NC750x and would like something comfortable for hot weather that's also quiet wind wise (80-110 Kmh).

Also, don't want to break the bank doing so. Any recommendations?

Would love having an internal sun visor, wouldn't mind flip ups. Would be an amazing bonus if it fits the Frunk. HJC F70 doesn't fit.

I'm getting my 92 CBR250RR back from my mechanic after having a engine and gearbox rebuild. Mechanically the bike will pretty much be perfect but the only thing im worried about is it failing for being to loud.

I bought this bike off someone who had a few old 250cc 4cyls under covers, sitting for about 2 years and obviously been thrashed which is why I took it to be rebuild, but it has a yoshimura exaust and its very loud (sounds like an F1 car and is amazing).

As I bought it like this I don't have its stock exaust. Should I take it as is or hunt down a stock exaust before taking it for its blues?

I recently purchased my first ever dirt bike, a TTR125LWE. I am starting with a small bike with the intentions of upgrading when I feel more confident. I am a complete newbie when it comes to riding (never touched a motorbike before) but decided its better late then never to learn! The goal is to go for my learners soon and have the bike rec registered (VIC based) so I can go on state forest trails but also love the idea of giving mx tracks a go... eventually.

I have been out on a friends property a couple times now to learn the basics. I can go forwards, change gears and make turns which are mostly wide but getting sharper with learning to have my leg propped out! I feel like learning to stand will help me feel more stable but struggling to understand the positioning I need, it just never feels right. And I feel like down shifting feels a bit clunky, I've never driven manual so assuming this will come with time and learning the sounds of the bike. Going straight I feel good with but slowing and coming into turns is where I start to panic and overthink.

I know its probably a "keeping practicing" situation, but I was wondering if anyone had any tips or tricks, words of wisdom, that may help out a newbie? I am really enjoying learning the new skill and determined to keep going with it, but I just wish I could feel more relaxed while doing it!

Also do you think already having basic knowledge and skills I would be safe to give the learners course a go soon?

So I'm an intermediate rider and I've been riding about a year, 6-7 months with shadows and on my own like 3-5. In WA we can't ride on our own or filter until we have our RE.

I filter all the time, I've read the WA handbook, but I wonder if what I'm doing is correct and safe- so I thought maybe I'd post here and have a talk to people? The handbook doesn't seem to go into small details.

I understand when/where I can filter: no school zones, no heavy trucks (that video recently omfg) and 30ks or less. I ride in pretty heavy traffic, etc.

Stopping position: I typically will go to the front and sit partially in front of a car so they can't do anything stupid. If I stay in the broken line, I get people trying to race me. But if I do what I'm doing, I could potentially cause an accident if I stall or something.

Indicating: I typically indicate that I'm moving to or off the broken line. Does moving to middle in completely stopped traffic require indicating?

On lights going green: If lights go green while I'm filtering, I need to pick a lane. This morning the lights went green a couple car lengths from the intersection and I accelerated to get in front of the cars and create distance.

Thinking about it, I think that might have been a stupid thing to do. I don't have full vision - racing ahead like that could get me killed. I think I should have either let the cars escort me though the intersection then take off- or indicate and join traffic.

Slow flowing traffic: This morning again, I was riding in heavy traffic. I filtered for about a block with everyone crawling forward at maybe 20ks at best. For a while I realized I was sitting in a 4WDs blind spot. How long can you reasonably filter for at once? I think I should have moved forward to the 4WDs front left instead of back left.

So yeah. Talk to me about how you safely filter all tell me what I'm doing wrong. Feel free to point me to any resources you want, I'll read it/watch it.

Every day I'm surprised by how much I enjoy riding, I want to improve and hold myself to a higher standard.

As the title suggest, I would want some opinions for de-restricting my CBR650R.

For people who already derestricted their bikes, what is the main difference you feel on the bike? I believe this bike can pull up to 90 -100 within the first gear even on restriction. I have a full system arrow system so I would to believe that having a tune/ecu flash would be beneficial to it.

Secondly, how are your experiences with cops/insurance. I am on my green Ps and getting my fulls in april next year. However, I know people will tell me to "get a proper bike" on my fulls. But I am very contented with the 650r and want to use it for awhile even after my fulls and I do not see myself outgrowing it for awhile at least.

For those in Sydney, please recommend me some workshops for derestricting for if I decide to go ahead and derestrict the bike

(Tasmania) Im wanting to take the course soon and dont know what licence to go for. I own a scooter as it was gifted me but in the future I would like to upgrade to a bike.

The issue is idk how gears on a bike work and I dont have car licence so gears are new to me all together. I have been riding my scooter on private property and am getting quite confident on it.

Is it worth it to go for the manual licence even though I dont know how they work, or stuck with the auto for now and try to upgrade my licence later? The course is expensive and I dont want to mess up.

What would you do?

Hey everyone! I’m a completely new rider looking to do my LAMS training soon and I’m hoping to get some advice from experienced riders on choosing my first bike. I’m still learning about all the different brands and models, so I’d really appreciate any recommendations for a good beginner friendly bike that’s reliable, comfortable, easy to handle, and not too intimidating for a new rider.

I’m also on the shorter side 🥲 at around 173 cm (5’6”), so ideally I’d like something with a manageable seat height and good ergonomics. I’m open to different brands and styles, whether it’s a naked bike, sports bike, or something else.

What bikes did you guys start on? and what would you recommend for a first LAMS bike? Any advice on brands, models, or things I should look out for when buying would be greatly appreciated! 🏍️🙏

Feeling like an idiot, at some point during my commute from moorooka to ipswich my motech top box fell off my motorcycle and i only noticed when i got off, checking here if someone may have seen or found it, can confirm its mine based on whats inside.

Just curious how often you guys ride and do you have a car as well? I am looking at getting a little CFMOTO Papio just for fun and commute to work sometimes (only 20mins) but I do have a car as well. Is it worth it in my case?

I'm sure as many, a free up around motorbikes, but recently decided to actually get my licence for the purpose of commuting. It will be my first purchase and I am not new to motorbikes, but I want some advice.

Looking at purchasing around the 2024+ Suzuki Vstorm 250cc. My commute is pretty simple, a short mix of motorway (100kmh) and mostly 60-80kmh and a journey of around 15km one way. I'm not a big dude so I don't need a big bike and I really don't care about speed.

Are these Suzuki bikes good for my need? In the sense:

- Are the reliable, good resale value, good part availability etc?

I just want to make sure I buy something worthwhile that's cheapish on fuel, don't need a superbike or a dedicated off roader, just reliable, good on fuel and can keep up with motorway speed.

Any suggestions more than welcome.

Planning on sitting the pre-provisional course to get my motorbike Ps.

I've heard a little bit about the MOST and have been practising in an empty car park. However, I don't know much about the course beforehand.

What actually happens in the course beforehand? Apparently there's a road ride? I've never ridden with other people before, just by myself, so I'm a bit worried about what it's like and whether it's easy to fail. Would intend to do the course in Clyde FWIW.

Also, is it worth just hiring a Honda CB125E from Stay Upright for the day (they're a bit easier for the MOST I heard).

I'm looking to get my first bike, and found a 2016 Honda CBR500 that has 11k kms and presents well. It's also got a RWC and 3 months of rego left. The seller is the second owner of the bike and claims to not have made any modifications aside from a slip on exhaust (but had swapped it to stock to get RWC done)

I inspected the bike in person and all looked good, but when I went to check the rego on https://www.vicroads.vic.gov.au/registration/buy-sell-or-transfer-a-vehicle/check-vehicle-registration/vehicle-registration-enquiry, it says that it is not LAMs. I can't see any reason why it wouldn't be, but since I'm a learner I'm guessing the rego wouldn't transfer over?

What can I do? Is this an incorrect classification by VicRoads? Also on another note is the CBR500R a good learner / first bike?

Hi everyone. I was riding in a pretty heavy rainstorm & now have very wet riding gear.

Any tips for getting it dry again? Particularly my gloves which are very wet inside & can’t be turned inside out.

Moving to Melbourne soon. I've had my restricted for almost a year but unfortunately I can't sit my fulls here by the time I leave (about a 1 month diff).

Anyone know what the restricted moto license converts to? I did the license checker on VicRoads but it just says I don't need to do any tests etc but doesn't say if that's car or what the conversion becomes.

I have full car license for over 6 yrs if that helps.

I'm considering taking the CBTA 6F before I go if it means I can get my fulls first then convert since I get sit that at 9 months rather than 12.

My partner has dwarfism, she’s 130cm. She rides a lowered grom because she can’t reach the ground on a regular grom.

She’s been on her Ls for 2 years now. Whoever runs the MOST (RMS?) tests won’t let her use her bike for the test as it is ‘modified’ and says she has to use their bikes. She obviously can’t reach the ground on their bikes and she doesn’t want a scooter.

Is there anyone with dwarfism here or anyone who knows anything about it on how she can be allowed to do the test or get to her Ps?

She loves riding its one of her main hobbies but she’s losing interest and contemplating selling her bike because she isn’t allowed to progress past her Ls
