Question Parcel Lockers
I’m selling stuff on Vinted and I don’t want my address on the labels. I’m trying to sign up for a parcel locker but won’t let me as I don’t drive and only have a proof of age card. how am I supposed to get one if I don’t have the right ID?
it also says i can prove my identity at a post office and I tried today and she had no idea what I was talking about 🤦🏻♀️

I too had no driver's licence. Told to get Proof of age card. Damn thing is useless. Still have to Birth Certificate (must be original, not copy) and either Medicare Card, or Healthcare card nearly everywhere, incl' auspost.

You just need the Auspost app to send up a locker.

I have tried that and it takes me to a page to enter my identity they only accept drivers license or passports unfortunately.

A photo card should still work. Just scan it as though it's a driver licence and it should be accepted.

Sorry I had no idea, I set my parcel locker years ago.
Is there any way you could get a family member to verify for you? It'll just be for id.You can still use your name for the parcel locker.

I think they're confusing parcel locker with PO box, since theyre trying to send not receive.

I just want my address not on the labels so if they need to return something it will go to a parcel locker/post office but unfortunately they don’t take proof of age cards.

Proof of age card is accepted. I only have a proof of age card and I selected drivers license. It asks for things that are on both the license and proof of age card.

Wait, proof of age cards are still a thing‽ We haven't had them in NSW since 2005. We have photo cards, which are accepted as ID just like driver licences are, but you don't need to be 18 to get one, so basically everyone who doesn't drive by the time they turn 18 just makes sure they have a photo card before then, and then they never have this kind of problem. That's crazy if some states are still using ID cards that don't actually work as ID.

Proof of age cards and photo cards are the exact same thing.

They're not. Proof of age cards didn't have an adress, weren't valid for identification within the 100 points system, and obviously were only available to people over 18. They were discontinued in NSW in December 2005, and replaced with photo cards, which have all the same information as a driver licence, and are available to anyone over 16. They're valid as ID in exactly the same way that a licence is, and in the 100 points system, they're not even a separate category.

As it stands, in 2026, proof of age cards in most other states function the exact way that photo cards do, down to having an address and having all the same info a licence does.
Which is why it’s ridiculous that so many companies don’t accept them.0

Well they should call them what they actually are. They were originally called that specifically because they were proof of your age, but not of your identity.

I was 40, had neither, and still think it’s completely ridiculous (and discriminatory) that a grown person can’t verify their ID on their own. At 45+ I also can’t get a phone plan or device from Telstra.

You can simply make your return address "care of" (Post Restante) your local post office.
Post Restante mail items should be addressed as follows:
[Your name]
C/O [post office, state and postcode]
For example:
John Smith
C/O Brisbane GPO
BRISBANE QLD 4000
The only downside is that they don't notify you it's there, so you have to manually check for any mail they have for you, AFAIK.

Can you get a learners permit or proof of age card? Hard to do a lot of things without one.

Oh this is still an issue? Hahahahah oh boy.
You need to get a KeyPass ID from the post office, but get the DIGITAL ID version, not the printed card version (they are not interchangeable, I found out). It will cost you money to do this, and half the people at Auspost store still won’t know what you’re talking about.
I went through this years ago and their customer support for told me specifically this information. Sounds like it still holds up.

You could just post it and write the return address as some place else like an old business building or something similar. So you could check it if something goes wrong, or just loose the parcel if its not that important.

That's an expensive option for a "just in case" scenario, when parcel lockers and Post Restante are free options.

Did you print out the application form, filled it in and took it to the Post Office with you? They should know what to do if you take the form in with you.
