PSA What happened to that post about Mecca from the glamorous staffer who went rogue?

Upvotes

The individual has now shared their identity therefore I won’t go into specifics however it would be dangerous to continue to platform them. It has unfortunately detracted from a bigger issue that is workplace bullying and toxic cultures in retail organisations.

Please do not provide any personal information to this individual or their site.

Sincerest apologies to those who were involved in the post/s from a few weeks ago. I understand it can be frustrating and disheartening to see that the individual concerned was allowed to post again. I made the wrong judgement based off the information I had at the time.

Thank you to everyone who raised concerns and provided more information when asked.

Any questions please reach out via modmail (I’ll add a direct link later today).

PSA MyPerfumeShop AU is a SCAM

Hi guys,

Avoid myperfumeshop . au at all costs. They are dropshippers larping hard with false promises and fraudulent behaviors.

Needed some colonge fast for an anniversary gift. (within 2 weeks). Got drawn in by the big promises of same day shipping (out) or within 24hrs. Its been almost 2 weeks, item hasn't been shipped. I email them, they tell me my item is in the middle east??? and will be delayed, and no they won't cancel it or refund me I just need to suck it up. They generate a fake tracking number for my item to try prevent me from doing a dispute.

Yeah, I dont f****king think so mate.

So I just kept emailing them, made sure to charge back my card and report them to fair trading NSW.

Once I mentioned this to them they freaked out and said oh absolutely you can cancel your order please remove your dispute. So make sure if you get stuck by them, just charge back your card and make sure to let them know (if you need the money back asap.) or be like me and just leave the dispute open. Let them suffer and pay. If enough chargebacks are done the bank will permanently close their banking. :)

(edit:just adding some tags to make this pop up on google hopefully before their store link so people are warned)

Review Violette_FR Bisou Balm was awful

Post image
29 Upvotes

I bought this is Rose Latte. My lips are pretty hydrated. This formula clings on to any slightly dry areas, and will not sit at all on the centre of my lips where moisture is, so it dries out and clings to the outer edges while not covering the centre. Truly awful, I'd post a photo but I don't want to put it on again as I will be returning.

Let's Discuss Sarah Creal

I got the email it was launching to Space NK - I've heard such good things I thought this might finally be a way to get the brand shipped to Australia (without a friend/forwarder). However it has the dreaded note "Unable to ship to Australia". Am I foolish to hope this might mean they are launching here soon? Perhaps Mecca/exclusivity if they are restricting SNK...

Product Advice Best primers for oily skin?

Hi all,

I have oily skin and it breaks down my makeup during the day. I really don’t like Milk’s hydrogrip primer or any that give you that slippery, silicone feeling.

Do you have any recs?

Are Kerastase and MoroccanOil good options? I've seen very mixed opinions on them.

Product Advice Most glossy and shiniest nail polish top coat?

Hey friends,

I used to use the Sally Hansen miracle gel top coat (it’s a polish not one that requires curing under a lamp). Unfortunately it looks like the formula has been reformulated and it’s no longer the glossy top coat I used to remember.

For the nail polish fans out there, what is the glossiest top coat you know?

Misc. Melbourne Eyebrow Places

Not sure if this is the right place to ask this (if there’s a more suitable sub pls direct me there!) but im looking to get my eyebrows done for the first time ever and am seeking recommendations of places to go in Melbourne.

I’m super nervous as my eyebrow hairs are VERY fine, a tad sparse on the ends and they take a long time to grow, so I’m afraid of them removing too much hair.

I just want them to look sculpted and as natural as possible - so not too thick, thin, dark or blocky. I can’t seem to find anywhere that does them as light and as natural as I’d like, hence why I’m seeking recommendations!

Thanks in advance!

Haul Adore Beauty no longer doing Tim Tams

I don’t order from them anymore but only if there’s a decent sale or I need something that’s out of stock elsewhere. This order and my last order didn’t have a Tim Tam. Which sounds about right. We didn’t ask for physical stores.

Product Advice Best nail files + base/top coats?

Hi, I'm getting into painting my nails to help protect them from peeling and other issues; I'd love advice on what the best nail files are (heard good things about glass?) and the best base/top coats. Preferably Priceline/Chemist Warehouse ones but open to indie :D

I can probably find it online but I hate buying lipstick without trying it on my wrist first, I thought it would be easy to find at Priceline but no luck?

Product Advice Traditional Goth Makeup

Hi all,

I’m trying to prepare for a goth/clown look for an up and coming Halloween party. Can anyone recommend any good white foundations. I want to practice, as I feel it’s going to take some repetition to get my preferred results. I want the photos from that party to be banging 😆🖤

Any further tips from some seasoned goth makeup girlies would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks 🖤

Product Advice I love my press on nails (they’re from temu)

I am scared to write this but here it goes. I buy this specific press on nail design on temu. Nothing else, just this. I cant find it anywhere else. I get at-least 1 compliment a day when i use these and it makes me feel pretty and nice about myself (i work in sales).

I feel bad because i am feeding into fast fashion industry but also this is also this is something i can afford? If i wanted to get this particular design at a nail salon half would say no and the other half would qoute 100s of $$$ that I wouldn’t be able to afford but I feel so guilty about this. I have ordered these twice (set of 24) so far.

Product Advice Finding the right primer

Hello everyone! Sorry if this was already posted but I’m trying to find the right primer, I’ve just changed foundations and am finding my primer is not keeping my makeup on all day. Everything else I have is still the same the only thing changed is my foundation.

I used to use the Fenty Beauty Long-wear matte w/ Smashbox photo finish primer (a makeup artist told me to use that as it’s a great universal product) now I have started to use the Nars Light Reflecting foundation.

Do I need to change primers and does anyone have any advice which one would suit with this foundation or does anyone have any tips on how to keep your makeup on all day? I use setting powders, setting sprays etc 💖💖💖

Thank you xxx

Product Advice Acrylic nail kit brands

Iv been doing my own nails for about 12 months now
Iv used Temu (yes I know but I got lucky with no reactions or problems)
I want to buy a kit but if I’m spending money on quality I want to know what is recommended for people learning
Nsi have kits but I tend to burn through monomer so the little that comes with it doesn’t seem enough (maybe it would be with a better brand)

Product Advice Looking for affordable(ish) silicone based foundation recs

I’m currently doing project pan, and am about to run out of my foundation (the milk hydrogrip gel tint) as well as the primer I have been using with it (glossier hydrating priming moisturiser).

This leaves me with one primer left to pan, the benefit porefessional primer.

My go to foundations/skin tints are all water based, so I was looking for a silicone based skin tint/foundation recommendation that will pair nicely with the benefit pore primer.

For context I like light-medium coverage and a natural satin finish. I have combo skin that can get quite oily throughout the day and can be acne prone.

Thank you!

Let's Discuss Best Long-Term Approach for Repairing Heat-Damaged Hair Without Repeated Chemical Treatments

I have shoulder-length hair that has been damaged by heat. I’m considering getting a salon treatment such as keratin or nanoplasty, but I only want to do it once and never have to keep repeating the treatment.

I’ve seen many people say that after a few months, their hair became dry, frizzy, or difficult to manage again, which made them feel like they had to get the treatment repeated. Because of that, I’m wondering whether it would be better not to do any chemical or smoothing treatments at all.

Would it be better to simply take care of my hair at home with oil treatments, minimize heat styling, and gradually cut off the damaged ends as my healthy hair grows out?

What do you think would be the best approach for getting my hair healthy again in the long term?
