If Pavi truly become the Avatar of Light from Raava, it'll only be a matter of time until Nisha potentially becomes the Avatar of Darkness from Vaatu! - a Dark Avatar!

Who knows how long they'll become teenagers or young adults when they become rivals/enemies to one another?

Based on the current state of the water in seven havens do you think there are water benders? And if so do you think based on how the world sees Korra if the other nations hate water benders to the point they may have to hide?

Me personally want it to be like Gon and Killua from Hunter x Hunter

I hope Seven Havens takes the Dark Avatar concept and makes it work.

I like Book 2 more than I should. Though half of that is in retrospect with how it fits within the wider storyline of LoK. I do think a Dark Avatar should’ve been more than an admittedly sick ass kaiju smack down.

So with Pavi and her twin, it’s clear that they’re going for an Avatar with Vaatu’s spirit in mind. One more about chaos, given the state of their era.

While everyone can be passionate about what they didn't like, I firmly believe that unpopular ideas that (admittedly) could've used more time in the oven can be brought back and freshened up.

So... yeah. Dark Avatar State, yip yip!

as a life long fan of this franchise, my brain is none stop rolling of ideas and theories. but when it comes to ASH i haven’t been thinking about much im ‘wanting’ from this show. i wasn’t cognitive watching ATLA and LOK as i was just a child and just watched what was in front of me, and i sort of have the same mindset going in ASH. i was the same with the movie.

the only thing im expecting is that one child will have ravaa and the other vatuu, other than that i am just simply excited my favorite universe is getting more content.

what are your expectations of this show ? :)

There are a lot of Sub-Bendings in the Avatar world, and Pavi is most likely going to learn a few. This got me thinking: which Sub-Bendings is Pavi likely to learn, and which ones are not as likely?

This is entirely my perspective on what Pavi might learn; if you disagree, I would love to hear what you think.

Likely:

• Metalbending: As an Earthbending Avatar, I think it would make sense for her to learn the main Earthbending Sub-Element.
• Sandbending: From the trailer and official art, Elora is in a desert, and seeing an Avatar use Sandbending would be cool. It's a Sub-Element that wasn't really shown much.
• Icebending: Usually, when someone has Waterbending, having Icebending is a given. Though, in the trailer, there weren't any Waterbenders shown, and if my knowledge of the order the Avatar learns bending is correct, Pavi will learn Waterbending last. I'm still putting Icebending in the likely category due to the aforementioned Waterbending and Icebending correlation.

Less likely:

• Healing: Healing is a less-shown Sub-bending for Waterbending. At least for Avatars. Korra only used it for one scene, and Kyoshi and Yangchen are the only other Avatars that used Healing. Aang, Roku, Szeto, and, surprisingly, Kuruk never used Healing, to my knowledge. It usually seems to be for the Waterbender of the Avatar's group to use. It's a good Sub-Bending, but I find it one that Pavi might not learn. Still a possibility, though.
• Lavabending: This is another Earthbending Sub-Element, but it's less common compared to Metalbending. Setzo, Kyoshi, and Roku were the only Avatars that used it, but that was before it was an official Sub-Bending. According to the Wiki, it was originally a combination of Firebending and Earthbending that only the Avatar could use in the Avatar State. I could see Pavi learning this, but due to how rare it is, I could also see her not.
• Lightning Redirection: Aang is the only Avatar to use Lightning Redirection, and Lightningbenders are one of the rarer Benders in the franchise, so I wouldn't be surprised not to see her learn this.
• Lightning Generation: Pavi's name means thunderbolt in Sanskrit, so that might hint at her learning Lightning Generation, but as I said about Redirection, and with how rare Lightningbenders are, I wouldn't be surprised if she didn't learn this one either.
• Spiritbending: With Spirits now hating the Avatar, Pavi learning Spiritbending would be one of the most useful skills she could learn. Though again, with Pavi possibly learning Waterbending last, if my knowledge is right, it's less likely she'll learn it.

Least Likely:

• Spiritual Projection: Jinora and an Airbender named Mangal are the only users of Spiritual Projection, and it seems to be one of the rarest Sub-Bendings in the Franchise. Also, there was Kaiju Korra, but I don't see Pavi learning how to do THAT in ASH.

• Combustionbending: Combustionbending is one of the rarest forms of Bending in the series, and learning to learn it is apparently very painful. I don't see the creators putting a nine-year-old through the process of learning it.

• Bloodbending: Except for Katara, this is usually used by villains in the series, and I don't see the main protagonist learning this. Also, the whole full moon thing that most have to need to use it would make it so she would use it so little that it would be really unlikely for her to learn it. Unless she learned psychic Bloodbending, but that's even less likely.

• Flight: Only two people have learned Flight in the entire franchise, and we've only ever seen one of them on screen. I don't see Pavi detaching herself when she has her sister, Jae, Geet, and whoever else joins her group throughout the series. This is the least likely Sub-Bending Pavi would learn.

There we go. This took so long, but I didn't see anyone else do something like this, so there we go. Also, I didn't mention Glassbending or Soundbending, because those were only shown very briefly by Kyoshi and Yangchen, respectively, and I'm not sure if those count as official Sub-Elements.

This whole exchange, even between the members of the elemental cycle of the Avatar (Water > Earth) seems to be key for the Seven Havens.

I don't know that Pavi will die, but I suspect that the cycle itself will come to an end, with the tribes being responsible of preserving the balance maintained by the Avatar.

Perhaps Pavi will die in the Avatar state. Who knows.

Aang was a kid and korra was a teenager when they started thier journeys. What big event do you think will require the avatar even when they’re so young?

So we all know seven havens is post apocalyptic (or current apocalypse considering how bad it seems). But what other setting would you have liked to explore?

Personally i actually would have enjoyed a modern times setting. I know thats not popular but i think the whole issue of bending becoming obsolete and the difficulties between humans and spirits would be really interesting. We see in book 4 how advancements in science interfere with the spirit world. It would undoubtedly continue to be a problem. Also the Avatar having to face opponents that use weapons that make bending irrelevant would be interesting too.

I think it would have been cool to have a modern avatar and set up the problems and then get the apocalypse. I know the whole "protect the environment" is something thats used as a message a lot but considering how our world is doing it clearly needs to be said more.

A friend of mine suggested a setting about an early Avatar where nations are getting established which also sounds cool.

I just learned that Pavi's name in Sanskrit can mean thunderbolt. Maybe she'll learn Lightning Bending in the series. Or at least, maybe Lightning Redirection. I think she also might learn Metal and Lava bending, seeing as her native Element is Earth, but it would be cool to see her learn Lightning Bending too. It's the only Bending besides Lava and Combustion that we never saw Korra use, and Aang only learned Redirection. Might be cool to see an Avatar learn actual Lightning Bending. To my knowledge, there hasn't been one in the franchise. I think it would be neat.

I was checking the Avatar Chronicles book of Korra and this sentence stood out "I'm sorry you won't have the connection with me, Aang, and with all the lives that you've lived before". We have been thinking that Pavi and Nisha will have contact with Korra... But what if they don't? 😱

Ironically, the world in the new series has become everything Unalaq wanted it to be. The four nations no longer exist. People and spirits live together again, and even the physical and spiritual worlds themselves could possibly become one. Raava and Vaatu are reunited. And chaos now seems to dominate the world. Not to mention that there may be a new Dark Avatar. Unalaq may have died, but he got his way in the long run.

I have seen many theories going around about Avatar Pavi and her twin possibly being Joint Avatar or Light/Dark Avatars. But I’m wondering that what if Pavi is the avatar who hosts BOTH Vaatu and Raava?

In LoK we learned the spirits of light and dark are reborn from within the other. But what if this caused Vaatu to be bound to Korra as well as Raava? The small teaser we got seems to imply Korra caused the apocalypse and we don’t know what that means. If to assume she directly caused it, it’s possible the spirit of Vaatu awakened within. During Harmonic convergence she fused with Raava. But unlike Wan, this time was different. Vaatu wasn’t sealed away. He was “defeated” which mean he was sent to Raava to begin his rebirth. It was explained light or dark can never be destroyed so we know he isn’t gone and certainly within the spirit of Raava. Which is now fused to Korra.

I wonder if this new Avatar will have to balance the two conflicting spirits within and build herself as the first Avatar of Balance.

It could be a similar instance to the manga BLEACH where EARLY IN THE SERIES it’s assumed the protagonist has a calm/righteous driven spirit as well as a chaotic demon within. And depending on his own state can tip control of which spirit he channels. For example if she’s angered or saddened, Vaatu might take over and cause her to become corrupted. I’m sure there’s better examples. But I don’t think this theory has been shared before.

TLDR: Korra fused back to Raava when Vaatu was destroyed and not sealed meaning she fused with both. Now Pavi might be an Avatar wielding both spirits and will have to balance her energy and state of mind like we never saw before.

Hi everyone how are you doing? As of today we are getting increasingly closer to the release of ASH and after taking a break from posting theories here (I genuinely thought you guys would have loved the whole idea of the Avatar also having to balance themselves going forward) I’m back with a theory that’s way more unique.

So I keep seeing how some of you guys are guessing that Jinora or even Zaheer is going to end up being Pavi’s spirit guide but I feel like I’m the only one who sees Naga in that role. Hear me out.

Naga was truly a good girl that never gotten the same appreciation that Appa did all because she got so sidelined post season 1 of LOK just for the fact she can’t fly so her being a spirit guide would be a brilliant opportunity for that to happen! I also think this would be so left field but in a good way because it’s not obvious compared to both Jinora and Zaheer.

Like imagine Pavi in her sleep kept dreaming of this polar bear dog who seems to really want her attention. She’s not sure if she should trust it because of how hostile the spirits are in her era only to bite the bullet by following this animal to see what they want to show her only for them to lead her to… Korra herself thus revealing that this is no ordinary polar bear dog but rather Naga herself. I can also see Naga showing Pavi some other important stuff as well.

Overall this is just a theory of mine and until then, I will catch you later. 👋

We don't know if the cataclysm during Korra's time led to the rarity of benders we see in ASH. This may seem silly but what if the rarity of benders in ASH means that all that spiritual energy bottles up and manifests as the forces of nature - the storms we see. To balance this, what if the series ends with spiritual mumbo jumbo and every human gains the ability to bend?

I speculated, yesterday, that I think Korra may have attempted to portion out a portion of Ravaa in order to reverse death/extend someone's life and in doing so violating the laws of the spirits. Thematically, this fits in with what we know about Sonam and her creation of the Benders Staff, Aang and his earthly desire to restore the Air Tribes.

But...Yun's consumption of Father Glowworm leads me to believe that given humanities skill in bending, they will use it to hunt the spirits, slay them, and make them subject to their whips in their lust for power.

With the state of the world and the stronger opponents and bending styles she’ll probably face, she has a lot of room to grow. Toph is an incredibly high bar, but do you see Pavi reaching or even surpassing that level with more experience?

The creators have confirmed that ASH will get an episode akin to ATLA's "Avatar Day" featuring full-on Korra-hate riots.

So, here are my thoughts on what the episode will be like:

Premise

I think Pavi and Nisha will sneak out of Ellora's castle to mingle with the common folk, only to end up in the middle of a Korra hate riot.
Now, I can see either sister being the instigator. Pavi might want to show Nisha the outside world, or Nisha might want to show Pavi around Ellora.

Overall, I believe that the episode will take place pretty early in the series and serve as further world-building by showing how reviled the Avatar is in this new setting.

Now, having grown up with this rhetoric, Nisha will likely fall for the Korra hate while Pavi, who grew up outside the havens, will probably be more open-minded about it.

Meta Commentary

Now, so the episode doesn't get too dark, I'm guessing the second half will be far more comedic and serve as straight-up meta commentary on real-life Korra hate.

Simply put, the characters leading the riot will start quoting real-life Korra haters, which will just get unreasonable at some point and make them and the characters who believe their talking points look stupid.

Honestly Pavi is gonna be one of the avatars that’s gonna be up there with the greatest. All the things she has to fix in the world and with little help I’m excited to see how she fights.

Visually, the Avatar series is mainly East Asian with a mix of elements from all over the world, like Inuit culture or the New York skyline. However, its historical framework is heavily borrowed from East Asian history. For instance, the Fire Nation's expansion mirrors Japan's aggression in Asia, the conflict between the Northern and Southern Water Tribes parallels the division of North and South Korea, and the Earth Empire's takeover of Republic City reflects China's control and integration of Hong Kong.

Season 1 was inspired by the history of WWII, mirroring Imperial Japan's aggression across East Asia.

Season 2 takes cues from the modern era, with Republic City standing as a parallel to Hong Kong, transitioning from the influence of the Fire Nation (Western powers) into the hands of the Earth Kingdom (China). The events in the Season 2 finale bear a striking resemblance to real world history.

Season 3 envisions the future. For this, I drew parallels to an ancient Chinese prophecy, Tui Bei Tu (推背圖). Given its alignment with current global tensions, I thought it would be compelling to bring up for discussion. The prophecy, alongside related diagrams, suggests China entering a dark age marked by fragmentation, turmoil, and incessant disasters, a landscape resembling the aftermath of a third world war. Yet, a Sage (akin to the Avatar) emerges to save humanity, reunite the nations fractured by catastrophe (resembling the Seven Havens), and restore peace to the world.
