US Iran-War [Day 141]

New megathread - removed the sirens rule. Due to a clear majority of people who want to be able to discuss/share news about sirens, we will allow them - but know that these are NOT MODERATED. Please do not report siren or all clear posts, and take them with a grain of salt. Follow official accounts to get your information.

Gentle reminder Ladies and Gents, PLEASE please use the search function on the sub to ask your shipping and travel-related questions, or discuss them here.

This post and this subreddit is meant to discuss Bahrain and the current affairs of Bahrain. Please refrain from flexing your political analysis on the current state of affairs and most certainly do not post unsubstantiated news, do not post any rumors and add to the mass hysteria. Users are also urged not to speculate on what type of hostilities or defenses being used. If its X missile or drone Y does not help. You are either revealing sensitive information, or causing mass hysteria. One makes you a liability, the other makes you a negative contributor, and your comment will lead to a permanent ban as well.

Any comments that have any misinformation, tweets from armchair analysts or instagram influencers will lead to a permanent ban. Do not engage in these comments, just downvote and report. Any comments arguing or correcting the user with misinformation will be banned as well.

For security and safety reasons, any post or comment that discloses or attempts to identify the locations of Bahraini or Peninsula Shield Forces military installations, missile interception sites, or other sensitive military positions will result in a ban.

All users are urged not get into arguments. Please be civil. Do not report opinions, report violations. We have taken the decision as mods to allow low karma users to post and comment, however, this can change if we see repeated violations from users who do not read the rules before posting.

We do appreciate the effort from all users policing the sub from the spread of the governments security information, however we have received an excessive amount of reports about locations of sounds. While we don't endorse it, we are only restricting comments about defensive capabilities such as interceptors. Please try to be civil. Don’t feed the trolls, report them.

We rely heavily on reports, however let's keep the reports for:

  1. Comments with misinformation or unverified news
  2. Comments that are obviously trolling us
  3. Comments that are disrespectful
  4. Comments that violate local security instructions

Any other posts regarding the war will be removed. Please use the search function for any commonly asked questions. Lets keep the space uncluttered in the event of any serious developments.

☝️ AskBH Advice on best way to dismiss or avoid personal questions during car purchase?

During my car hunt with person to person sale (not agents or installment car companies), i get typical "judging my pockets" questions like "what you work? Is it company? Where you work?" Instead of asking my name or anything. Its very annoying and i know these questions are used to put me in some brackets.. asking advice on how to tackle or dismiss these questions. I usually just dont answer and change topic because i dont like people adjusting their prices higher based on how i look or where i work.

Where do people find decent female flatmates in Bahrain?

I’ve recently moved into a nice 2-bedroom apartment and I’m thinking of finding a female flatmate for the second room.

Ideally I’d love to find another woman around my age (30s), working professional, easygoing and sociable. Someone who’d actually be nice to live with rather than just two strangers sharing an apartment.

For those of you who’ve found flatmates in Bahrain, where did you look? Are there any good Facebook/WhatsApp groups, websites, communities, or other places where you’re more likely to find genuine female professionals?

I’d also prefer not to advertise it through my personal Instagram/social media, so somewhere I can post relatively anonymously would be ideal.

Any recommendations (or places I should definitely avoid) would be appreciated!

☝️ AskBH Any Muslim here suffering from OCD? Posting here with the hope of getting some answers. Help me.

As Salam Alaikum

I have severe OCD, and while it affects many areas of my life, the one thing I don't want it to ruin is my worship and prayer.

Before salah, I spend a lot of time trying to figure out the exact qiblah direction, often checking it repeatedly because I'm afraid I might be wrong. Then I worry about whether a strand of hair is showing, whether any skin is exposed, whether my feet or hands are covered properly, and countless other details.

During prayer, I sometimes restart because I think I did something "wrong." For example, if my mouth was open before saying "Allahu Akbar," I feel like that isn't part of salah, so I start over. Sometimes I become confused about whether I performed one sujood or two. Other times, when getting up from sujood, I start analyzing exactly how I pushed myself up, whether my hands were folded, spread out, or whether I used my knuckles, and then I either perform sujood as-sahw or repeat the prayer entirely.

Wudhu is also difficult. If I accidentally do something extra or feel uncertain about whether I washed a part correctly, I often feel compelled to start all over again.

It's becoming exhausting. Salah is fard, and I love worshipping Allah, but I don't want prayer to become something that feels unbearable because of these constant doubts.

I also struggle when the adhan is called. I feel guilty doing anything else afterward, even though there is still plenty of time before the prayer time ends. If I send a message, make a phone call, or continue a task, I become terrified that Allah will be angry with me. Sometimes I even worry that because the message remains stored in someone's phone or appears in a call log, Allah will continue punishing me for delaying prayer and will never forgive me.

I know some of these thoughts probably sound irrational, but they feel very real to me. I can't currently afford therapy, so I'm looking for advice from anyone who has dealt with religious OCD/scrupulosity or similar experiences or an Islamic expert.

How do I cope with these doubts? How can I stop restarting everything? And does Allah forgive someone who is struggling with OCD like this?

🤔 Discussion Bahraini working in UAE – SIO/pension registration under GCC protection system – looking for advice/experiences

Hi all,

Sorry for writing in English - I’m way better in English that Arabic.

I’m a Bahraini national who is about to start a job with a private employer in Dubai. I went to uni abroad then worked there too so never previously worked in Bahrain and have never paid into Bahrain SIO, so I don’t currently have a Bahrain SIO insurance number.

The employer seems super confused about registering me for SIO via GCC Unified Insurance Protection Extension System so I’m trying to understand how it actually works in practice for a Bahraini working in the UAE. They want me to get an SIO number from Bahrain but the SIO are saying the employer has to apply for it via the UAE service GPSSA.

A few specific questions:
- Has anyone here actually gone through this as a Bahraini working in the UAE?
- Did your UAE employer know how to register you, or did you have to guide them through the process?
-How did you get your Bahrain SIO insurance number if you’d never previously contributed to SIO?
-Did GPSSA/UAE or Bahrain SIO issue the number as part of the registration?
-What documents were you asked to provide?

I’m particularly interested in real-world experiences from Bahrainis or other GCC nationals working in Dubai/UAE, rather than just the official rules, because the rules seem reasonably clear but the practical implementation seems less so.

Thanks in advance — any experiences, particularly from people who have gone through the registration recently, would be really helpful.

I’m an expat currently pregnant and my cravings are hitting hard! I’m really missing snacks like:

- Green/raw mango (not round one)

- Sand‑roasted peanuts

- Peanuts with shell to boil and eat

Could you please suggest shops, markets, or local places in Bahrain where I can buy these snacks or ingredients? Even tips on Indian grocery stores that stock them would be super helpful.

Looking for an IT job

Salam alaikum /Bahrain,

I'm an expat looking for work in Bahrain. I've been here for over a year and a half.

I'm an experienced IT Professional who has worked with managed service providers in IT for the past 11 years outside of Bahrain. My last official position was Senior System Engineer and Senior Network Engineer.

I understand the situation in the region is making companies hesitant to hire anyone. I'm just looking for a break as it's been incredibly frustrating.

Yes, I've updated my CV. I'm customizing it for each company and position. I'm even physical going to the companies to follow up just in case my email/application failed to make it past their filters.

If anyone knows anything or can help, please send me a DM.

Absconding case in LMRA

I came to Bahrain in January, few months later due to war situation and some other factors, the company I worked in suffered some loss and decided to close their operations, I had paid 450 bd from my home country for the visa. It was getting really hard for me to find a job, so I asked the employer for some time, During this timeframe, I was assured by two people one after the other that they will give me a job and visa so I kept asking for more time from my employer, last week, my employer filed a runaway case on me. The case is still in process (not approved yet) as I was told by LMRA expat protection centre sehla branch. Now one of my mutual friend has given me a job (confirmed, I have the offer letter) and I want to change my visa, is this possible now? I dont want any issues and just want to change my job and visa. I didn’t get any clear instructions from LMRA, so I want to know next steps, Please help if you can, I would appreciate any help on this. Thank you
