Women's Cricket / নারীদের ক্রিকেট Ignore the story. thoughts on women team getting better by facing men bowlers?

Just like Bangladeshi man batters, Bangladeshi batters on women team is weak too. Been thinking for a long time if they will be a better batting unit had they faced more express bowling which will be more accurate with line and length. Also, you can take example of Suryavanshi who also got ready for international by playing against much stronger opponent than he was supposed to be, at the age of 13-14.

Could be the best shortcut for our women team to improve their batting. Their reflexes will be much stronger, nerves on check, quick into reacting to the ball, and will be able to face top pace easily on a women game.

Discussion/ আলোচনা What is the current viwership numbers/trends for BD cricket ?

Cricket used to be a national topic back in the day but it seems like people rarely have active conversation regarding cricket anymore and there isn't that much of an enthusiasm to go see matches, that could be just people around me or a trend in general. But i wonder what the actual viewer number is and what sort of demographics in the country are actually following cricket right now

International Cricket/ আন্তর্জাতিক ক্রিকেট Our fear has come true. Bangladesh batting did what we expected from them.

Getting all out before hundred runs twice in a match, takes some mastered skills to achieve. They simply can't play any sort of swingish or extra bounce ball. It is clear as daylight and you have seen it on Zimbabwe tour as well.

Ashraful has to leave the team and we need to hire somebody experienced with such condition who can provide us batting drills, tips to negotiate the different type of balls in such condition, and a Plan B of batting if the first one does not work.

Everything was missing in the second match - footwork, leaving the 5-6th stump ball, negotiating late swing, temperament etc.

Also, our energy for second game felt really low. Players looked exhausted, only shoriful was in the game.

it is high time we work with our Pacers to improve their speed. You can't bowl at 125-130kph and expect to be threatening and take wickets. taskin and hasan clearly lost their speed after first innings in the first test and continued it in the second test. We need to see how to improve it otherwise they will be like pakistani bowlers, talented but so slow and eventually might lose their accuracy.

International Cricket/ আন্তর্জাতিক ক্রিকেট This is why consistency is important.

Just see the batting performance of Bangladesh team today. Utterly disgusting approach, inner fear crashed all of them.

We all knew this test pitch will be more like gabba where bowlers get good swing and bounce initially. Losing toss, batting first, aggressive field setup already crushed them all and they start gaveway freebies to starc under pressure.

the way mominul and tanzid give the wickets are catch practice. fuller deliveries with bit of a turn has been a known problem of bd batters and yet again it worked against shadman, liton, shanto.

Infact there was no plan B in batting despite seeing they are unable to play fuller length ball.

This is why teams like Bangladesh, Pakistan, Sri-lanka stays below top -5 in any rankings despite potentials.

Hopefully, they will get their shit together and come back strongly in the second innings, which should be much easier to bat. Also, some player needs to go for the greater Good of Bangladesh future.

We needs to find mushi's replacement bcz he will not serve long and has been disappointing performer in both swinging conditions (Zim and today). In fact in the first game, he gave away his wicket on bit of extra bounce. Not saying he should be removed ASAP but we need to search for replacement. Shadman has gotten enough opportunities, next innings should be his last.

Souyma deserve some frequent chances considering next assignment of the test team is with Pace giants(SA, Eng, West india). and as 3rd opener whoever does well in current SA tour of A, emerging team.

International Cricket/ আন্তর্জাতিক ক্রিকেট Consistency in performance makes you a better team. Bangladesh should be as focused on second test as they were in the first.

So, since we have win the match against Australia in Darwin I have been seeing overjoyed journalist, ex-players, media saying, it's fine to lose the 2nd test. We do not care.

This is a wrong mindset to have, we need to focus on being consistent with our performances. We had such miracle wins before, in the 2022 Newzeland test, ODI series win in SA, Asia cup final in dubai. However, we couldn't continue keep moving the momentum. That same cycle will repeat if we do not focus on being consistent on performance after one major win.

Let's not forget, we have capable players to shine in the second test as well, so why we are being careless? I'm not saying, we must need to win the second test but we need to show Good performance. A generational opportunity to banglawash Australia in Australia. It can open more doors to unlock series in SENA countries.

Let us think of the previous win as past and focus on the present. Think shanto and his co also understand it. hopefully they will be locked in with the mindset of writing history.

Do you think this is our chance to make it to the final of the WTC?

I think now all the traditionally strong teams of test cricket are quite weak.

India isn't very good at the moment i think, they have some new players coming into the team and some positions are not settled yet. For example, in number 3 there are players are being debuted but then getting replaced because they are not performing well.

Similarly Australia batting is also not that good, after the retirement of Warner and Khawaja they didn't find any good openers yet.

New Zealand is not like the 2019-21 new Zealand when they won the wtc. Also, Kane Williamson retired recently.

England's bazzball era ended and now we don't know what will happen to them. Stokes retired.

Sri lanka team was very good in tests but after the retirement of Mathews and Karunaratne their batting has become kinda weak.

Pakistan team is really bad at the moment. At present, I think South Africa team is quite strong. But other teams aren't very good. Is this our golden chance to make it to the final?

I know our team isn't very good either and this is probably just a wet dream, but still 😭

International Cricket/ আন্তর্জাতিক ক্রিকেট Love the non-chalant celebrations by the team.

YES! WE DID IT. But i love the most that, we didn't do any over the top celebrations. It's a slap to these bias comms folks, and some aussie players like smith and starc who lost their shit in the game. Shadman and Mominul didn't even celebrate. Way to go!

International Cricket/ আন্তর্জাতিক ক্রিকেট Bangladesh vs Australia test day 2 - how do you feel?

As per AI, Bangladesh has 52% chances of winning this, Australia has 36% chance and 11% chance of this match to be draw. I think Bangladesh chances will go past about 60%. If we can manage to put at least 50 more runs and declare innings after 200 runs lead.

Day 3 likely to stay good batting friendly pitch. Should not be much problem for us to score more than 50 runs if we can negotiate first 10 early overs. our captain needs to use heavy roller.

Tamim played an excellent knock, so does Shanto but Mominul knock is the tone setter for this lead I believe. He didn't let us collapse after losing the first cricket, put up almost 96 at first day stump without any foul play, strongly handled first session. His continuous strike rotating helped Tanzid to remain cool. Definitely missed out playing the only crap shot in his entire innings.

My prediction:

If Bangladesh can get 200 runs lead, I expect Aussies to give us a 150-170 runs target. It will be really difficult to score that in the fifth day but I believe we will not let this opportunity go easily.

Domestic Cricket/ ঘরোয়া ক্রিকেট BCB planning to change domestic like football leagues.

Big changes could be coming to Bangladesh's domestic cricket.

BCB is planning a franchise-based Bangladesh First Tournament, where the same owners will operate teams across T20, One-Day and 4-Day cricket under 5–10 year agreements.

6 franchises are expected.
Each franchise may invest around BDT 2.5–3 crore.
The proposed calendar starts with the T20 tournament (25 Nov–10 Dec), followed by the 4-Day competition throughout the season, and concludes with the One-Day tournament (22 May–10 June).

Sources also suggest the BCB has already held advanced discussions with several major corporate groups and banks, with banks likely to make up a significant portion of the franchise owners.

Official tender invitations are expected next week.

(copy post)

I think this is a positive move from BCB. Players will have contract for every domestic leagues and they do not need to worry about it for at least one year or two while playing.

Teams may also pick players at their early age, groom them, and use it for the future just like Barcelona(la masia) Academy does. We just need to hope that, all the professional and big reputatated corporate houses join it instead of any politicians or politically aligned personalities.

Why hasnt Habibur Rahman Shohan made his international debut?

im really baffled that the BCB has still not debuted Habibur Rahman Shohan in international cricket. I dont think ive seen a batter quite like him in bangladesh . He consistently out performs the top batters in domestic with very high strike rates yet BCB still hasnt given him the oppurtunity. does anyone know why this is the case or is it simply favoritism?

Discussion/ আলোচনা What's wrong with hasan mahmud?

He is fit, does well in tests but why not able to bring that success in T20 games? He can shape the ball, maintain line length, can do yorker nd bouncer, slower everything required to be a good t20 bowler and still failing to be economical in t20s. unable to get wickets. and, specially no balls in every match is kinda crazy. what could possibly going wrong?

Miraz should be removed as Captain

Miraz has been an player who everyone thought will be the next Shakib Al Hasan but since then he has only disappointed, not only disappointed, he is now more hated than loved by Bangladeshi fans due to his strange captaincy and selfish behavior. In the 2nd ODI He did not bowl Mosaddek who was on a roll on his comeback game vs Australia with both bat and ball, instead he kept bowling and bowling and gave Mosaddek the ball just before the innings was about to end. I wouldn't have actually cared about it much if he bowled well but he has been a shit of a player himself, despite the 2nd ODI's fighting innings his record with ball and bat has been very poor, you can now talk about he still led his team to win against might aussies this series, but whoever watched the match live know that the vice captain was more involved with the players than the actual captain, Mehidy was just a guy with the title captain and nothing else, hence I think we should remove miraz as captain and put Shanto as captain and maybe Litton as vice captain for the ODI side, I personally think Mehidy also should be removed from the team temporarily so that he plays some 1st Class cricket and other regional tournaments to get hold of himself and for an improvement in his performance.
