Leaving Blue Origin Meme

Post image
230 Upvotes

I recently wrote about a plethora of Linkedin posts by Blue employees announcing their departures. But this meme by James (first name only here) raises the reveal to a new level of artform. James, like all exiting employees, gives a glowing account of his experiences at Blue, but this meme might just have some mischievous subtext. Perhaps someone could modify this with a reference to achieving escape velocity.

Is this true? I see salary ranges to be much higher for the same role. Is this true?

Does every single person come to the office 5 days a week? Is it mandatory to stay for 8 hours? What about people like directors and vice presidents do they come to the office as well?

Are you thinking of finding a new job because of pay?

I am honestly curious if the pay is a concern for people these days. It doesn’t feel like it’s the same as it was 5 years ago.

I recently received an email back after applying for a spring aerospace engineering co-op position requesting to set up a technical interview. Does anyone have any suggestions on what to review or how to prepare for blue origins interviewing process ?

D shift

Anyone care to share their experience with D Shift on the launch ops side as an ME in Flordia?

Im debating taking that role but the shift kinda has me down. Would like to understand how people adjust to the shift, what their days kinda look like both on and off, and of course the experience working the role.

Are your teams hiring less experienced people?

Serious question. I’ve seen a lot of people hired of the last year and none of them are above the age of 30. I saw some hiring reqs for Seniors also get silently replaced with reqs for Level 2 engineers. I’m not sure why. I am somewhat young, (not fresh out of college) and I really wish my team would hire more senior talent. I want to follow someone with experience and know-how, but my team is a few dozen 20-somethings without much experience. Is this happening to anyone else?

Application Wait Time

Does anyone know the typical wait time to hear back from Bule Origin? I applied to an Aerospace Systems Engineer I – Early Career (2026 Start) position in April 2026 while I was still in my master's program, and I have now graduated. My application still says "Application Submitted, Under Review"

Interview Next Week for SDE I Early Career

I have an upcoming technical interview for Early Career role at Blue Origin.

I was told there will be a HackerRank portion in the interview.

For anyone who has recently gone through the SDE I :

  • What was the coding portion like?
  • Was it similar to LeetCode-style questions, or more like implementing functions based on a set of requirements?

Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Amazon LEO/NBN partnership actually going ahead!

Thumbnail

Interesting. It looks like the Amazon LEO/NBN (Australian national provider) partnership is actually going ahead, and not years away either!

My understanding is that with the initial small LEO network, they're going to be concentrating on the southern hemisphere where they have customers such as NBN.

Should be good for regional Australians to get off the high latency sky muster, without paying the high prices of Starlink. Just great to have some competition I say, and some more bandwidth to go around. The current GEO SAT just sucks.

Sure starlink can do over 100Mbps, but this should be way cheaper, more like fixed wireless and sky muster.

Personally following the Blue origin rocket launches and issues, I wouldn't be surprised if the timeline slips a bit. But 12 months away is not too bad at all if they get close to it.

On another thought, given that it's set up like the normal NBN and the retailers are providing the data, I don't see any reason why retailers wouldn't be able to sell the layer 2 services over it. Would be quite convenient for businesses with regional presence.
