I recently went down a rabbit hole about Archana Puran Singh’s first marriage and found it surprisingly difficult to find anything about her first husband, reportedly Gurinder Singh (also known as Sunny Reyar).
What I find odd is that there seem to be almost no photos of him, very little information about his life/career, and surprisingly little reporting about his death in 1991.
There’s another thing I couldn’t find a clear answer to: when exactly did Archana and her first husband get divorced? Most articles simply say they were divorced, but don’t seem to give a specific year or date. Some timelines suggest the divorce happened before his death, but the exact timeline is strangely unclear.
Even the accounts of his death seem inconsistent — some reports say he died by suicide, while others describe it as an accidental shooting on Diwali.
I understand this was in 1991, before the internet, so the lack of digital records isn’t necessarily suspicious. But given Archana’s long public career, does anyone know more about him, their divorce, or have an old photograph/interview/article that gives more context?
Not trying to imply anything sinister — genuinely curious because the lack of information and the unclear timeline are unusual.

One more detail I find interesting: Archana Puran Singh’s father, Chaudhary Puran Singh, was a prominent criminal/defence lawyer in Dehradun, and Archana herself has said that he worked with Sanjay Gandhi during the Emergency-era period (1975–77). She has also described her father as a well-connected and successful lawyer who represented prominent criminal defendants.
