AMA Ask Me Anything with Emily Deschanel & Carla Gallo – June 6th, 3–4 PM PST – Coming to You (Not) Live from the Jeffersonian

Hiiii Bones fans,

Emily and Carla here! We are sooo excited to do this AMA with all of you. Working on our podcast Boneheads has been such a fun excuse to revisit the show, and honestly... we’ve both become fans in a whole new way. Watching it back with fresh eyes and hearing from you has been the best part.

We wanted to take a little time to hang out and chat. So tomorrow, June 6th, from 3 to 4 PM PST we’ll be right here in this thread, live, doing our best to reply to your questions, fan theories, random thoughts... anything you’re curious about. FMKs welcome. So are weird murder memories.

We’ll be the ones typing slowly and laughing a lot. Bear with us as we answer. We’re not exactly tech pros (unfortunately, that’s more Bones and Daisy’s specialty than ours).

Can’t wait to talk to you soon!

XO,

Emily and Carla

Spoiler: I actually feel denial Spoiler

After seeing nigel-murrays death, i felt denial not having him in the series anymore. This is certainly new for me, as it is the first instance of me feeling this „emotion“ for a fictional character. Every episode I waited to see which intern will be there, hoping it was him, and now HE is the one to die.

Utter nonsense. Adored the character, from the way he spoke to his quirks, even to the way he died. Him disappearing temporarily after his jeopardy win was already frustrating, but this is even worse. I mean what now, will I actually study for my exam?

Discussion Temperance’s past

Is anyone else slightly confused by bones’ backstory? she lives with her parents in a happy home up until they suddenly leave when she’s 15 and she winds up in the foster system until her uncle (if i remember correctly) get her out. So that means she didn’t age out of the system so at most she would have been in foster care for 2, ~3 years tops. But she talks about (in the prince charming episode) not playing with toys as a child and fearing not being able to connect with her daughter as she grows. She also mentions at some point that she “forgot” about her life before because she couldn’t trust the happy memories, and that it took years for her to regain her memories. I am aware that trauma can cause memory loss but she was over 15 when her parents left? that feels like a stretch to me.

Also the uncle that got her out of foster care is never mentioned again but it is mentioned multiple times during the show how Bones was completely alone until she met her coworkers/friends and Booth.

There just feels like there’s a lot of contradictory information and plot holes about the whole thing. Maybe i’ve missed something but it seems of lol

Why do people like Finn?

Im rewatching again 😁 and after searching on here people really seem to like him. I don’t get it…literally watching s7 ep 8 where he first meets Michelle in front of his boss and flirts with her. Asks out his bosses daughter? This is apparently appropriate? I find his accent to be fake sounding and comical. I like to fast forward through his and Michelle’s screen time 🤪

SPOILER ALERT! Just re watching my way through again and although I understand why they wrote Zack out of the show I hate that they did it. Zack was a brilliant character and in my opinion had so, so, so much more to offer in the show. I personally think they could have had him go off on other trips (like the Iraq trip he went on) to have the interns and more characters involved. Shame really. I guess it's a bit raw still though since I finished the episode about 3 minutes ago. 😂

Discussion Anyone else notice how frequently they wear clip-on earrings?

As far as I can tell, Caroline always wears clip-ons, which is actually fairly common for a woman of her age. However, I've noticed Brennan also frequently wears them, and Cam does occasionally as well. It can be a little difficult to tell the difference between real and clip-on earrings, but I know what to look for, and I notice them constantly. I was wondering if anyone else noticed it too. Anyone know why they're so common in the show?

Discussion I finished Bones now what do I do with my life?

I never thought I would get through 12 seasons but here we are. If anyone has any other tv suggestions I know that people mentioned criminal minds which is a show I’m interested in. Does anyone have any lighthearted shows to recommend? Easy to watch, filler episodes, it could be related to detective stuff or entirely something else. Thank you.

Realizations while re-watching Bones!

So somehere last to last weekend I started re-watching Bones. Just finished yesterday and now started again lol.

Anyway, I realized that I genuinely dislike Cam's character at times. She seems SO insecure. The number of times she says "I'm your boss" or "I'm in charge" is hilarious. I wish it was a drinking game. Rather annoying.

Bones got stabbed by a scalpel and she didn't have any bandages on the scenes after. It's funny to me as it is my first time watching the series. I'm loving itttt

Discussion Ghost Killer and other serial killers

Doing a rewatch and is it just me or did the show not do a very good job with some Serial Killers?

Gormogon was barely shown, only there for namesake and his death

The Ghost Killer arc was intersting but I was very disappointed that they just killed her off and never explained why she murdered

Is there any more?

Discussion Why so many sons? Anyone else notice this overrepresentation? Spoiler

I just finished my first watch of the entire series, and I'm realizing that there are only 2 daughters amongst all the couples.

Booth & Bones: Parker, Christine, Hank
Angela & Hodgins: Michael Vincent and unnamed baby (Hodgins heavily hinted it was a boy)
Daisy & Sweets: Lance Jr.
Cam & Arastoo: Michelle, Tyler, Isaiah, and Jordan (adopted brothers in the very last episode)

In total: 2 daughters vs 8 sons

It's disappointing as the show has so many well rounded, smart, strong, female leads

Episode "Amei o meu presente, Booth"

Reassistindo Bones, cheguei no S3ep09.

Episode Booth in Season 11

I'm rewatching Bones again for the first time since it ended its original run and completely forgot about this detail in S11E17

Why would the secret service even care if booth is a descendant of john wilkes booth? that's a pretty weak reason to not have him on the case isn't it?
