The “reject” of the litter ended up being the best dog we could have asked for ❤️
Our goofy boy was apparently the “reject” of the litter because of his teddy-bear ears 🧸
But I'm so glad that they left him for us to find
He's the biggest goofball, but he's also the calm to the storm that is his big sister Bonnie. She's another Border Collie and definitely keeps him on his toes, she's 100 miles an hour at all times, where as Ollie.. he's more of a "slow down and smell the roses, and the trees and the grass" - you get the idea. He has a tempo much more suited for cuddling up, rather than rounding up everyone and everything he can find, like Bonnie does.
He loves whatever anyone is doing and has to be part of it - mowing the lawn? He's laying down in the spots we've missed, shovelling mulch into the garden? He's supervising the wheelbarrow so that it doesn't run off. Kids are outside throwing the ball around? Or playing something that doesn't require a tennis ball? Either way, he's on fetch duty and he's actively recruiting members to join his team
His favourite people in the world are our four little kids.
He's their absolute best mate. If they're outside, he's outside. If they're playing, he's playing. If they're doing something he probably shouldn't be involved in… he's definitely there 😂
He's never really wanted anything other than to be wherever the family is.
He's even had a few adventures along the way. He and Bonnie were both bitten by a snake that was outside where the kids play, it has snuck through a gap in the fence for our back yard. Thankfully they were both okay, but it gave us one hell of a fright, and then the vet bill almost gave us a heart attack.
He's such a gentle, loyal dog and somehow manages to be both ridiculously silly and incredibly good with the kids.
We honestly couldn't imagine our family without him.
He's currently entered in a little competition, and we're seeing how far our goofy teddy-bear-eared boy can get, we are hoping if we can win, to fix up our yard to help make it a safer, more enjoyable space for the kids and dogs to grow up together. I'm sorry if this post isn't allowed (I'm more of a lurker than a poster on Reddit, so I'm still getting my head around the different rules) , so I won't directly post a link to it (but I think it's in my bio if I've done it correctly?), instead I'll just upload some photos of our goofball❤️ Any support would be greatly appreciated.
I'd love to hear about yours though, does your Border Collie have a weird little quirk that makes them completely unique, like our boy? 🧸
