Looking For: Home Goods & Essentials 🏡🛏️🍁 Walnut shell cat litter?
Hey buds! We currently use Naturally Fresh for our FelV+ cat, which is a walnut shell cat litter. Are there any Canadian (or at least non-American) alternatives? Right now we're happy with how little dust is created as well as clumping quality and odor control.

I think Naturally Fresh is fairly unique and is currently my fav litter.
Bosleys / Petvalue has a number of made in canada litter options and they are marked and filterable on their site

I was using the fresh 4 life house brand clay litter before but have to admit I prefer Naturally Fresh walnut

Yeah I'm not a fan of clay litters personally... I've never heard of Bosley and will take a look there! I think naturally fresh is the only walnut litter petvalu carries. Thank you!

Bosleys is a subsidiary of Pet Valu! And I agree with the first commenter. Naturally Fresh is the only litter my cat can use (she has asthma and FHS). I tried most Canadian options I could find before settling with this one. Granted she’s been using it for years so I’m not super up to date, but I just couldn’t manage to find a suitable alternative.

Catit unscented pea husk litter. I absolutely love it. Zero dust and very little tracking. My cat has fuzzy paw tuffs though so if you have a shorthaired cat there should be no tracking.
It's on sale often at Bosley's/Pet Valu.

Catit is a Canadian brand but the litter is made in China.
I was curious as the Bosley's/Pet Valu site didn't have it with a made in canada logo.

That's a shame. Looks like the made in Canada options are limited to clay based options. Big nah from me.

Have tried them before and couldn't stand the smell. My house smelled like a barn. 😭 They're also hard to scoop (with the scoop I have) because of their size.

Somebody previously recommended these Canawick hardwood pellets used for heating.
I tried it out and it's great! $9 for a 40lb bag, lasts us months. Canadian Tire seems to carry it in all their stores, And it's made in New Brunswick. Worth giving it a try.

We used that when we first got our kittens but found that it left residue on their paws that would transfer around the house. We switched to another non clay while they were little and now they all use pellets that we source from a local lumber mill but you can also buy them through places like home hardware. They’re the same pellets used for heating.

It doesn’t clump, but my favourite litter is Canadian made wood pellets from Canadian tire. They don’t smell, don’t track, and happen to be super cheap.
