Holsters & Belts Holster keeps shifting/tilting

Hello,
This issue has been going on for months. I currently carry a Glock 17 with a TLR 1 HP in a Tenicor Velo Lux with a HC blackout belt.. I love my set up but the issue within a few minutes my holster shifts midline and my barrel is pointing/making contact with my genital area. I carry at 12:30/1:00 as I find that is the most comfortable for me, but this always happening to me ever since I started carrying (February).. any tips to stop my gun from shifting when I walk? I sized up in pants and shirts, lost 10 lbs (still got another 20-30 to go before I start bulking again).. I wear stretchy American eagle jeans so everything is tuned in for me. But having the barrel keep on touching my penis is annoying.

I’ve tried the holster at 12 o’clock right at the midline and I don’t like it as that makes it hard for me to unzip my pants if I want to urinate.

I’ve tightened the belt because maybe that was the issue but the holster still tilts, and it made it harder to sit since the belt is tighter and less opportunity for the holster to adapt to different positions.

Would swapping for a Certum lux help? Or would adding an X300 help (extra length helping conceal)? Or would maybe adjusting the cant on the holster so if the shift occurs it makes the holster go back to a neutral position?

I can’t buy a new gun because I’m currently in a position where I can’t buy a new pistol right now, and I like my Glock 17, I shoot it way better than a 19 and I conceal it fine without printing and I live in an area where open carrying won’t even bat an eye.

Thanks a lot, it’s just annoying to have my gun change positions. And having to readjust it.

The first picture is how I clip the holster on, and the second is how it ends up after a few minutes.

Guns & Ammo Anyone regret 43x purchase?

Looking for a small micro-ish 9mm to complete my carry rotation. Tradionally I've never liked Glocks until gen6 but the 43x seems like with some grip tape it would be fine.

I've shot hellcat pro and p365 xmacro and liked them but I've been able to find some good deals online for Glocks lately.

I had a vortex ccw defender so just threw it on for now and liking it. The trigger on the 43x is the best i have tried on any striker fired gun, it’s the tactical pontoon trigger and their striker, absolutely the best trigger and i had Johhny Glock, timney. Thought about putting a radian comp on the 43x but nah love the small size and wakes u up when you shoot it compared to my smooth hd c4x or my g19.3 comp that i got too.

Guns & Ammo Stupid to purchase gun I’ve never shot?

Looking for my first CCW and I don’t really have the funds to be a collector at the moment, so I wanted just one that hit as many of the bullet points as possible:

- Comfortable in the hand
- Comfortable enough to shoot
- Comfortable enough to carry
- looks cool

I’m willing to spend a good amount since this will be my one pistol for a while. I’ve had the opportunity to shoot a ton of pistols at a local range but most are the standard recommended carries like Bodyguard 2.0, FN reflex, M&P shield, P365, 1911, glocks etc.

However guns I really really wanted but don’t have the ability to rest first include Cz 75 compact, Baretta 80x Cheetah, and 1911 EMP.

Any of those shoot similar to the stuff I’ve tried? Stupid to order one without trying?

Holsters & Belts FIRST HOLSTER (TENICOR VELO5)

After weeks of researching for a holster for my first concealed carry. I decided to go with Tenicor. All the reviews I’ve seen from them seem to be extremely positive. I had trouble finding a holster for the metal variant of the M&P 2.0 but as soon as I saw that Tenicor had a holster I decided to go with it! Loving it so far.

Guns & Ammo I would like to ask for some recommendations!

This is how big my hand is.

I never shoot a sub compact before but what sub compact you recommend that’s smaller than 4 inches but still big enough for my pinky? Wanna try something smaller for day to day carry.
I’ll probably drive around my local gun range to rent a bunch but any recommendations?
Budget $500 or less so please, no Staccato 😟

Guns & Ammo CC9 vs 43X MOS vs Shield Plus?

I've narrowed my options down to these three.

I managed to eliminate the P365X (my favorite ergonomically, but it's a Sig), the XMacro (fantastic design, but it's too big, and it's a Sig), Hellcat Pro (great design, I liked the trigger but the grip is too blocky like a Glock), and M&P9 Compact 3.6" (too big).

So I'm left with the Shield Plus, CC9, and 43X MOS.

I think the grip on the CC9 is just a hair too short and the shape isn't as comfortable as the P365X. The grip is fine with the 12 round mag but teetering on too small with the 10.

I don't really like Glock. But the thin 19 style frame is a great design and Glock finally making a 15 round magazine after years of begging (in typical annoying Glock fashion) makes this a compelling option. I think the grip is slightly too long. Probably too long as the CC9 is too short.

The shield plus is nice. I don't love it in my hands. It's weird, some of the triggers have this weird almost non-tactile double reset and others have a very nice single tactile reset. I don't know what that's about. The triggers don't seem consistent to me. But the ones I like I really like and the ones I don't are a deal breaker for me. It's funny how the larger capacity shield plus mags make it taller than the other guns on this list. Which makes the variety of magazine sizes less compelling to me.

Does anyone have any thoughts or experiences they'd like to share? I haven't shot any of these. My local ranges don't have all of these models available for rent.

Guns & Ammo How many rounds do you put though gun before you make a decision about it?

I’m having paralysis by analysis until I actually go shoot the ones I’m consider (tomorrow) but I’m wondering how many rounds should I put through the ones I’m considering, and then the one I like the most again? Thanks

I have this holster that I use with my 43X but don't remember who makes it. I want to get another for my Max 9.

Now if anyone has an alternative to suggest that's similar, please feel free to let me know.

Thanks in advance.

Other Equipment 4 year old optic loose. Took it off to clean and retorque. Is this normal?

My p365 was milled 4 years ago and had same optic and loctite ever since. Maybe 4-5k rounds through it. It has wiggle to it without screws and I see wear, but it's been so long since I've seen the underside of this thing. Is this a normal occurrence for optics on a direct mill slide?

Other Equipment Recently started a job at a weapons free campos need help setting up a new EDC for while I am at work.

Upvotes

Just stated a job at a weapons free campus. We are not allowed to have any weapons on our person or in our vehicle on the campus/facility. What are some alternatives that I could add to my EDC since I can’t carry a knife on me or have a firearm in my vehicle? Was looking at possible a tactical pen and a hand held sure fire.

Guns & Ammo Trading in my glock 19

Thinking about trading my Glock 19 for an M&P Compact Carry Comp, talk me into/out of it

I’ve realized I really don’t like my Glock 19. I shoot it okay, but I just don’t enjoy shooting or carrying it.

On the other hand, I love my Shield X. I shoot it noticeably better than the Glock and it carries significantly better for me. I really like the M&P ergonomics and trigger.

So I’m considering trading the Glock toward an M&P 9 M2.0 Compact Carry Comp. The idea would be to use it as more of a winter/colder-weather carry gun when the extra size isn’t as much of a concern.

For anyone who has shot/carried both the Shield X and the Compact Carry Comp:

Is the Carry Comp meaningfully better to shoot, or am I just buying a bigger gun when I already have a Shield X that I love?

Would love opinions, especially from people who actually own/shoot both.

Edit: Most replies so far have only discussed whether or not trade in makes sense. Can anyone provide some feedback on the M&P compact carry comp?

Permit Process Passing background for CCW with a spotty juvenile record?

Upvotes

Location is Ohio. Hello, I am planning on getting my CCW at some point due to switching jobs and getting into security and I was wondering if I'll have trouble passing the background check to qualify for it.

I have purchased firearms in the past and haven't been flagged or anything and my records are expunged and this particular incident happened a little over 8 years ago. Long story short I have a weapons related felony charge from 2018 that has been expunged off my record after I turned 18. I never received any notice in the mail about a lifetime firearms ban or was given anything about said notice or spoken too about it they just said it would be expunged once I turned 18 and that's that.

With that being said do you think this will come up? I know they do a more extensive background when applying for a CCW, so I figured it may disqualify me if they're still able to see it like the government can when applying for the military or something related.

I'll KISS(keep it simple, stupid); Just want earpro I can wear around outdoors at the range(do not post in haste. my bad)and not have to worry about losing hearing. Was considering;

Sordins w/macks earplugs underneath

Otto Noizebarrier Micros

or if a better third option that isn't a suppressor exists..I am open to em.

VT laws do suck ass, but at least I can find something that I want.

Training Help with index/target acquisition

I started reading Joel Park & Ben Stoegers Baseline Dryfire last week. I’m starting to take training more seriously. I just did my first true dryfire training session.

I’ve been shooting for a while, but still suck pretty hard and never really taken it seriously. I started using a par time of 2.5 seconds for draw from an owb holster, getting my red dot on target, while trying to build a good grip. Not worrying about trigger press for this. Just trying to train my natural index. I got down to 1.6sec but started to see a problem arise when I was really pushing speed.

The problem I’ve having is that when I draw, and bring the dot up it’s consistently off to the left. I’m trying to use Hwansik Kim’s grip technique where my support hand index finger is resting on top of my firing hands middle finger first bone in between first and second knuckle.

I don’t think I’m over gripping with support hand because in live fire my recoil control is still pretty shit but idk. Can anyone offer any advice or help for what might be causing my dot to be consistently off to the left, or know of a drill for fixing it?

Getting Started Not sure if this is a dumb question

Are revolvers worth carrying as a primary firearm in 2026 main thing being budget. Ik when I carried semi auto I always thought I had to be ready for end of the world and carried 2 spare mags but maybe a revolver would force me to be more proficient and that capacity anxiety would go away ?

Guns & Ammo DB9 Gen 4 vs wonder .380s

My weekend and casual carry is an HKCC9 and I love it. Great gun. For less permissive environments, casual runs down the road etc, I’m looking for something I can carry in the pocket.

My only current caliber for handguns in the house is 9mm, and I sold a lot of fun stuff to simplify and get there. I was able to hold a lot of different small firearms and have it narrowed down to either the DB9 - Gen4, or either an LCP Max or Bodyguard 2.0.

All three seem to get great reliability reviews, and swapping the pinky extension for the flat baseplate on the DB make them all nearly the same size. 9mm is a more powerful cartridge but the 380s carry 4 more rounds. The DB is just over 200, the LCP just under 3, and the smith just over 400 locally.

Anyone own one, two, or all three of the above and have any thoughts? This is going to be strictly for standoff range defense when larger firearms simply aren’t practical.

Other Equipment M&P2.0 Defender ST plate

Looking for a DPP plate to put on my M&P 2.0 for my Vortex Defender ST. Called S&W and was told they don’t make a plate for it but when I google it I’m told I need plate #6, only problem is my 2.0 only came with plates 1-5. Called Vortex and they said they don’t have anything for it. Wanting to get it ASAP everything I’m seeing is $50+ and is going to take 15 days to ship. Looking for something more reasonably priced and/or won’t take half a month to ship. TIA

Holsters & Belts P09c holster review from Muddy River Tactical

For context I ordered a holster for my P09C. Only good thing I can say is the turnover time was fast but the retention on it is horrible. If you simply turn the holster around with the gun loaded it will fall off without moving it.

I emailed the company to have it be looked at and I paid to ship it back to them. I got it back and there was no difference in retention and no note saying what was going on.

Annoyed at this point I left a review where the owner is now (1) blaming me for paying for shipping saying he sent a prepaid label, which he never did. And (2) blaming my gun saying there’s something wrong with it when it is stock.

Maybe it’s just bad luck on my end but I would just look elsewhere and not bother with this company.

Other Equipment Hiking/Outdoor Packs/Slingbags

Looking for recommendations for a decent sling bag or backpack with a CCW pocket for outdoor use. I have been hiking a lot more than usual this year and it has me looking for a better carry setup. Currently whenever I hike I just carry my normal AWIB setup on my belt with a G19 or G26 depending on the day, sometimes with a spare g17 mag. On 5 mile or less hikes it doesn’t really bother me, but on really hot days or longer hikes, it starts to get a little annoying. I’m in the market for a small sling bag that is mostly grey man or wouldn’t get any odd looks. I live in a mostly anti-gun state so chest packs are 100% out. All I’ve carried for years on hikes is a small sling bag from REI that fits a water bottle on the exterior and maybe 4L of storage inside, so I don’t need anything huge. Really just looking to get input from other people that spend a lot of time on trails or outdoors. I’m considering the 5.11 LVC8 & Eberlestock Fade Sling. Also looked at the 5.11 MOAB 8. The LVC8 and Fade are both a little “urban” looking, and the MOAB 8 starts to get a little tactical with all the molle. I would greatly appreciate some additional options or anyone with experience with those bags for my use case. I know its going to slow down my draw times and going to have to train as I’ve never carried off-body, but its getting to the point that sometimes I’m considering leaving it at home. I’d much rather have it and be slower to draw than have nothing at all.

Holsters & Belts Which Glock Tier 1 Concealed Holster to Get?

I have a Glock 17L, Glock 17, 45 all with Surefire X300, Ideally I’d like a one holster for all three guns Appendix IWB. Do yall recommend getting 3 separate holsters or getting 1 for 17L and using it for 17 and 45 as well? Thanks for your time.
