General Questions How to communicate a weird nickname

Hi! I have a nickname that is very different from my legal name. Is there a way to change my name in the system so that it will show up to professors ect as my nickname, so when I turn things in ect it isn't confusing? Obviously, without actually changing my legal name. Any advice would be great!

Academics Math 24 - Bin Lu

I just started Math 24 with Professor Bin Lu and was wondering if anyone here has taken the class with him before. It’s a pretty large class, and after the first day I found the lecture somewhat difficult to follow due to a heavy accent. For anyone who’s taken him, what’s the best way to approach the class and do well? Are there particular resources, study strategies, or things you wish you’d known at the beginning?

Other Intersection/crosswalk next to the new whitney hall

Did any commuters notice that students are crossing the crosswalk even tho the light is green? Was it just a coincidence for me that I had two instances where people didn't care that I was about to crash into them cuz the light was green for me? Did the crosswalk signal stop working or something?

Socializing How was everyone’s first day back/at Sac State?

Personally, my first day here was incredible and I think my professors are amazing… except my stats professor, he didn’t sound like he wanted to be there today. I’m surprised how short most if my classes are, only 50 minutes meanwhile my classes at community college were all about 1hr+ each, some even 3 hours.
I do like sac state fr though this is a nice campus

Student Housing Hornet Commons Lease Takeover

2x2 Annual lease, $1155 per month with parking $60 a month. First two payments already made.

Hi everyone, I’m not attending CSUS this semester due to transfer issues and need to have my lease taken over so that I can stop paying rent on a dorm I don’t live in. Please reach out to me at dhtscharner@gmail.com.

I am going to another college and can’t afford to waste 13k when I don’t use that service. Thank you all.

Community Parking Question

Upvotes

Sorry in advanced if this is a stupid question-

I’ve always parked in PS3 for ease but my classes this semester are significantly closer to PS5 but I noticed that it said it was an Employee/Student parking area. Are students allowed to park in PS5 all day or only at certain times?

Socializing Older transfer student looking to make friends at Sac State 😊

Upvotes

Hey everyone! I’m an older transfer student at Sac State; well, I'm in my 30s, and I’m still pretty new to the area, so I’m trying to put myself out there and meet more people.
Being a transfer student can feel a little awkward sometimes because it seems like a lot of people already have their friend groups, and as an older student, I sometimes feel like I’m in this weird in-between space. 😅 I’ve realized I’d really like to build more of a social circle here and have people to talk to, study with, grab coffee or food with, walk around campus with, or even check out campus events together.
I’m pretty easygoing and enjoy movies, reading, sports, exploring new places, grabbing coffee, and just having good conversations. I’m totally open to being friends with people of different ages too; you definitely don’t have to be another older student.
I’m not originally from the Sacramento area, so having a little more of a community here would honestly be really good for me. If anyone else is new, a transfer student, an older student, or just wants to meet some new people, feel free to comment or message me. Maybe a few of us could even get together on campus sometime. 🙂
