How did I do deal wise? This is my first new car / Toyota I’ve ever owned in my life and I’m 27, so any advice or things I should know would be greatly appreciated! I got 3.99% for 3 year financing so not a bad rate. I hope this car can last me atleast 10 years

Lift for better ground clearance

Post image
0 Upvotes

Hello, I'm in need of some help. I've got an 05 Camry LE w/ 1MZ FE V6. I've really grown to love this car. I live in California so there's that. I took it camping and realized it is great for dry trails. I'm fully aware that FWD is not ideal for anything past that BUT... I was smacking on roots/rocks. I need some ground clearance bros. All I've done so far is look into strut spacers, but I'm looking for anyone who may have experience with this and am completely open to going a much different route. I would like to get as much clearance as possible, but I would be 100% happy with 2 inches of lift and maybe some slightly more aggressive tires. Please no "RAV4/CRV". I'm looking for people who have experience with this or something similar, I'm aware I'm better off looking into something else. For tires, I'm open to changing what I need to for an accurate speedometer but I don't think I want to stray far from that being accurate. My speedometer consistently shows 5 over true speed @ around 40mph so I think I'd already be close if I went slightly bigger. I am new to all of this and this will be the first time I take on a proper car project. Thank you for taking the time, I'm really looking forward to this!

Gears don't change appropriately

Upvotes

Help: I have a 2025 Camry, bought new about six months ago. Early on there were several times when the car seemed it didn't want to go into gear after the light indicated it was ready to drive. It stalled and sounded like it was spinning on ice. I moved it from R to Drive a couple of times and it moved out of the parking space and drove fine. I thought there wasn't a major problem for 4 months; but recently it did the same thing and moving it from R to D to R to D didn't make it click into gear. I cut it off, started it again, and it drove fine after that. Should I be worried?

Maintenance Screw the wiper blade inserts!

TLDR:Just buy new wiper blades, screw the wiper inserts. They are not worth it. Seriously.

The Story: Girlfriend's new (well, CPO) 2024 Camry needed new wipers. I look online and everyone seems to be like "get the inserts, bro! Keep the original blades!"

So I look on Amazon. Ok, they are cheaper and "does it fit" box says they'll fit. Youtube videos make it look like the inserts slide right out and in. 5 minutes... yeah, right...

They get here, I pull off the old blades but the inserts have a notch. Stupid things took forever with a screwdriver to get them to slide past the notch. Finally out, I go to put in the new inserts, holding the metal tabs. They don't slide in...why? They're too big. Turns out the ones I got were the generic 8mm inserts, this thing needs 6mm inserts. So, the next day I bring the inserts to ups store and return them.

I go back online and think "I'll go to a Toyota dealer and get the right ones guaranteed, easy peazy"...Got a good price on them at a dealership down south and had them shipped to me.

A couple days later, they got here, yesterday. Struggle struggle struggle, get the old ones out. Try the inserts. The driver one gets on. But then there's the passenger one.

STILL TOO BIG!

I think "ok, I'll try the one I got in." Still 2 big streaks...oh god...

At this point I'm completely fed up. I jump in the car, drive 15 minutes to Autozone and buy a set of Duralast Flex. Check with both the counter and Gemini that they'll fit. They both say "Yes".

So I go outside, pop off the old blades, pull out the new ones. Don't need any of the attachments, the Camry bracket is the default. OK. Pop them on. Do a window wash. Perfectly clear. Total time to change those? Literally 5 minutes. And a minute or two of that was the blades were a little hard to get out of their plastic shells.

So, just passing this along. If you think doing the inserts will help you save a buck. Understand you're playing Russian Roulette. Or just go buy a decent pair of aftermarket blades and save yourself days of frustration over stupid wiper blades.

Thanks for listening to my rant.

Camry JBL speaker blown?

Hi, I do not know much about cars so I apologize. I bought I beautiful 2019 Camry XSE less than 6 months ago. When I was getting it tinted the guy told me the rear deck speaker was blown. He told me to buy a speaker from them but it would be in a box in the trunk, if I put a different speaker there it wouldn't sound right unless it is a JBL speaker. Does this sound correct? I can't deal with the thumping sound and need to get it fixed. Does anyone have any thoughts? I don't want a lot of bass just a descent sound. I looked up the JBL speaker or woofer and it's around $300 for this little thing.

Blindspot monitor performance issues?

New to Toyota here but so far the reliability of the BSM has been the worst I’ve ever seen on a vehicle.

On a 100mile trip it failed to pickup 7 vehicles on my way there that I passed on the interstate. This includes semis, RVs and normal cars. I disconnected the battery upon arrival thinking it may reset and returned home with it still not working 5 times.

Is this normal for Toyota? Can anything be done to fix it? I already mentioned to my dealer about it staying on for a long time after successfully passing another vehicle and being weird by they didn’t seem to care. 2026 SE

Would you take it?

I'm looking at buying a '26 Camry XLE and an out-of-state dealer offered me a BANGING price. However, because I couldn't get there for a 'wet signature' before the end of the month they sent the car to their sister store to be sold.

However, they offered me the same model WITH AWD for the same price. I know that "it's a good deal" from a financial standpoint, but I live in AZ and have ZERO use for AWD--I'd literally just be hauling around extra weight and losing fuel economy.

Under what circumstances would you take the AWD model...or would I just leave it?

Discussion Get best gas mileage during rush hour traffic (26 Camry LE)

I noticed that I get high 50s when I'm in heavy traffic on the freeway, going 20 mph and tapping on the brakes a lot. I even got 60 the other day. I hate commuting, but at least I get good gas mileage while doing it.

On the other hand, short trips to the grocery store are the worst. Those trips are often in the 30s.

Also, I took my first road trip last weekend and got around 45 while going 75 mph on the highway. I slowed down to 70 mph and saw the average mpg go up a point or two, so taking it slower on long trips seems to help.

Anyway, it beats the heck out of my old Corolla which got around 35 mpg.

Brand new, 2026 SE with the bumper issue. Driven off the lot with 0 miles. Dealership says there’s nothing they can do because it’s a known issue, and anything they do to fix it, won’t help because it will happen again.

Sigh. Suggestions? This cannot be safe to just “deal” with?!?

Got it for 33,663. 37,080 OTD. No Premium or Premium Plus package, just All-Weather, Black Emblems, and Mud Guards. Located in the Bay Area. I’m very curious to hear from others if you all think I got a good deal!

Also would love to hear any advice or tips for a new Camry owner. The only thing I’m not too pleased with is the sound. I’ve been tweaking the EQ in settings to provide a little more bass and midrange but not sure if that affects Apple Music sound from CarPlay. I’m coming from a 2013 Toyota Corolla which I LOVED the sound of. Will have to do some looking online to see what I can do.

Other than that, very happy. Got the exterior and interior color I wanted in the trim I wanted. Took about 3 weeks of looking and negotiating but pleased with the results!

Yesterdays purchase and first Camry

I’ve had many Toyotas for over the past 20 years but never a Camry. Yesterday I was able to work down the Dealer 10% off MSRP 37k to 35.5k OTD for this 2026 Camry SE AWD Heavy Metal w/Black interior, cold weather + connivence package, all weather floor mats and black out emblem.

Absolutely loving the way it drives. I have a 2020 Toyota Tundra Limited as fun toy so this will keep some miles off her.

Question 2GR-FE Gas mileage?

For those having the 2GR-FE (V6) what is your current gas mileage? I just bought it last month with 77K miles on it (it's a 2016 XSE) and I'm currently hitting somewhere between 16 to 16.5 MPG. This is the first time having a V6 sedan and I'm in love with this car but I do want to understand and be safe these are average numbers.

My commute mostly have a lot of stop signs and traffic lights, some times I hit the freeway cruising around 70 mph.

I have not done any major service, just a regular oil change. Is there a way to improve these numbers?

Thanks!

Maintenance 2004 Camry Belt Tensioner Adjustment?

Looking for some advice. Just replaced the alternator on my 2004 Camry and now whenever there's a gear shift I can hear a high-pitched whine coming from the alternator.

Research suggests that this may be an issue with the automatic belt tensioner not applying the proper amount of pressure. Is there any way to adjust the automatic tensioner to loosen it up or should I replace it?

I replaced the valve cover on my 08 Camry. These bolts need to come out to put on the new cover. They hold on the black cover that goes on top.

CAR ISSUE! 2024 LE

Try to keep the story short.
My SO Camry got rear ended 1.5 years ago but got the car fixed, then recently she started the car then had these check lights come up, after about a week at dealer she was told it was a cylinder misfire and they replaced multiple parts in the engine. Well about a month later it happened again and now I’m concerned that this will be a recurring problem any ideas of what could be an underlining issue that was not found the first time?

NOTE: these photos are from the first time, and all repairs were under warranty.
we are both fresh out of collage and got these Camrys new hoping to have a reliable car through and post graduation. Both of us having 2024 and both having problems, her’s being obviously worse.

Question New (to me) 2021 Camry XSE AWD

Thumbnail

Hi everyone! I am very new here and I’m very excited to announce I am a NEW (to me) Owner of an XSE AWD!!! I looked forever into what I wanted because I was an owner of a 2008 Mustang GT from 2016-2026.

I got it for around $20k, 66k miles.

What should I get for this vehicle? I want to (later) put some exterior stuff but for the meantime, inside? Like an infuser for scents… car seat stuff… Idkk … regular Toyota owner hacks and tricks?? Loll

Thank you guys!!! I’m super happy and it’s what I really wanted.

PS. The Raspberry Cream is the best Ghost flavor

Edited to include AWD
