Hi all. My Fiance and I are getting married in November and we are looking to go to cancun for 5 nights. My Fiance found Haven Riviera for a ridiculously good price. ($380 USD/ night) I see a ton of mixed reviews. I have never been to an all-inclusive resort before, every time I have been to cancun before I stayed at an Airbnb and rented a car to take myself to the beach, cenotes, Chichen Itza, etc.

I really just want to lay back and not have to think for a while and Haven Riviera seems to be a good answer for that until I see the really mixed reviews.

For those who have been there, when you say the food was meh, in what terms do you mean the food was meh? My fiance is a really picky eater with food aversions. He is happy with steak and baked potatoes, fish and chips, chicken tenders, fries - you know, basic midwestern. I am a foodie and can eat anything. Are we potentially going to run into issues with that?

I expect to pay extra for some things but we don't drink and we are not party people. We are pretty laid back. How much were the excursions? I know we want to do Playa Mujeres, Chichen Itza, maybe xcaret one day (childhood dream lol). Is it better for me to rent a car again to be a self guide?

Obviously this place has to be good enough to continue to be in business for as long as it has been.

If you have any other suggestions around the same price range, I am super open. I have always been a really tight budget traveler so this is out of my realm and I am scared of spending even that much lol

Hello! So I booked my stay for 5 days at the Xcaret Mexico. And of course like anything you see bad reviews right after you book. I booked on Costco travel so if I cancel I’ll lose out on 15% of my purchase. Aka I don’t wanna cancel I’m just gonna go. Does anyone have reviews. I’m going as a couple not a whole family or anything and we’ll be staying in the adults only casa. I really want this trip to be fun, and it looks fun but everyone is making it sound super horrible. We’ve been looking at so many different places that we’re honestly getting confused 😅 Our total budget is around CAD $5,500 for two people, including flights from Toronto.

So my in laws booked a stay in an all inclusive resort which is great for us because we have 3 small children between my and my spouse and my SIL and hers. However, it’s so not my vibe.

My best memories from my only trip to Mexico with my dad as a teen were swimming in a bat cave and eating the best tacos of my life on a random roadside. I have always been more of an immersive traveller and love getting to know locals and spending my money there.

I’m wondering if there’s a one day off the beaten path situation I can get into with or without my spouse and our 4 year old (not sure if they’ll want to leave the family for a day). We’ll be staying in Playa Mujeres in February and I speak fluent Spanish. I’d love to find something that isn’t too far although I know that might be a stretch.

Alright guys I’ve been at an all inclusive for about 3 days now. Safe to say I have not enjoyed Cancun at all, I so far prefer Vallarta and I think part of it is because I’ve ate here mostly and spent a day in Isla Mujeres where the food was okay, spent a day at Xplor and went to Madalena for dinner which was overpriced and not that good for the money. I have two days left and would like to eat GOOD food and maybe enjoy small shops. Can someone recommend me somewhere I can do that or specific places?

I am trying to get outside my bubble, and beat my social anxiety. I would love to have. relaxing but fun trip and experience my first time abroad and all inclusive.

I’d be going in just over a week, so a last minute booking. I’d be looking for something relaxing, maybe with activities/excursions, good food, and would like to maybe meet people. so I guess chill but a little bit of social vibes.

Anyone have any recs? advice and tips? I’m very nervous about this. I also don’t speak Spanish, is this a problem? and how would I get from the airport to the resort and back again?

As the title says, I'm overhauling the plancun website. It's already 7 years old (which I can't believe)!

What do you think is a good idea to include on the website?

We are going to be in Cancun in November with two kiddos. Our main destination is Holbox where we will be staying for a week but we would like to spend a couple of nights in Cancun to go to the aquarium and another attraction possibly (not yet decided). When I look for recommendations online most recommended places are ridiculously expensive (350+ per night) and a lot of those have not so great reviews.
Hoping to get some recommendations for all inclusive stays for less than $200.

Here’s what I’m looking for:
•on the beach
•has a pool
•clean
•has beach loungers/shade/umbrellas on the beach
•edible food (ok if it’s basic- just as long as it doesn’t us the runs and has kid friendly options lol) I know a lot of people complain about food at AI’s but we are not picky and are not there to eat so it’s not a huge deciding factor. Buffet only would be more than enough.

What we don’t care about:
•top notch service - I’m not planning on interacting with staff much. We basically just need to be checked in and checked out.
•clubs, night life, entertainment or anything like kids clubs or water parks.

We weren’t planning to do all inclusive but we would like to get some drinks and when I looked at restaurant prices I was shocked. Not many places where you can eat for $20 per plate or have a cocktail for less than $12 unless you go into town, which wouldn’t be the most convenient thing to do with 2 little kids.

My wife and I are once again struck by analysis paralysis trying to find a resort to go to this December. Seadust isn't priced too bad for us (coming from Vancouver, BC). My kids are 6 and 4. For reference, in the past three falls we've done:

Riu Vallarta 2023 - more of a random selection, as we had never been to an AI. It was fine, but in hindsight we didn't like staying in a hotel that big. The pools were always jam-packed, especially when we were sticking to the shallow sections for the kids. We didn't need such a giant buffet where fries/burgers/pizza were available at every meal.

Royal Solaris Cabo 2024- this one certainly had really mixed reviews, but for the price point, we weren't expecting anything super fancy. The pool setup (shallow ledge along the entire pool) was awesome to be able to play with the kids. Food was fine. Their booking app was terrible. Nightly entertainment was good.

Grand Park Royal Cancun 2025- we actually quite liked this except that the pool had no shallow sections for the kids, so that made it no fun to go to the pool. Entertainment was good. We quickly discovered that the best protein was whatever they were grilling fresh at the buffet, so we ate there a lot.

Given ours kids' age, it's not like we can really indulge and enjoy ourselves, which is why we don't really see value in spending a huge ton of money on a trip like this. We just want to go somewhere warm and not have to think about cooking and cleaning for a week. Our kids are early rises, so we are always eating meals quite early compared to others, so we don't have concerns about lineups for restaurants. Our oldest likes playing in water (though not a swimmer yet). The second will hang out in shallow pools but won't go down slides or anything. We also don't tend to spend much time in our hotel room, so while I see a lot of people complaining about dated rooms (not just at Seadust, but everywhere), it's never something we've really noticed with our previous AI's. Evening entertainment is a bonus, but not necessary (the kids will basically think anything is cool).

All of that being said, is Seadust really that bad? We can basically go all-in for about $4,500 CAD for four.

We’re a family of four looking to book a great all-inclusive for 7 to 10 days sometime between December and February. It will be my husband and I, our 5-year-old daughter, and my husband’s mother. She has terminal cancer and mobility issues, so having a resort where she doesn’t have to do a lot of walking is really important. Ideally somewhere fairly compact, or with shuttles/golf carts to get around.

We’d ideally like to have two rooms, but we’re comfortable staying in the same room if it’s a suite with some separation between the sleeping areas.

This will the first and last time my daughter will get to go on vacation with her grandma, so we’re willing to spend more than we normally would to make it a nice experience. Upgraded rooms is a top priority, and we’d ideally love a swim-up suite if we can find one within our budget.

Good food is also very important. My husband has a dairy allergy, so we need somewhere that is good at accommodating food allergies and has enough options for him.

For our daughter, we’d like a good kids’ club and activities/pools that she’ll enjoy, but we also want somewhere that feels relaxing and nice for the adults, especially grandma.

Our total budget is $12,000 CAD for everything, so we need to stay within that. My daughter and I are pretty easygoing, but my husband and his mother are definitely a little pickier, so I’d love to find somewhere that will impress them too.

What resorts would you all recommend?

I know it'll be a pain in the ass and they'll do everything to scam me into spending more time and committing. However I was able to book the double ocean front suite with the vip access for a week at nearly the cost of their standard room so I jumped on it.

Aside from the normal tips like documenting everything so they don't try to go back on the promise, setting timers, polite but firm, don't make it about money.....

Anyone go through the pitch at this specific resort? Any tips or stories to share about it?

I am planning a 6 day trip in the last week of November with our 3 elementary aged kids and looking for an ideal beach spot. We don’t drink alcohol if that makes a difference. Our priorities include:

• Clear calm turquoise water with soft sand.
• Great local food (we are big foodies and loved our time in Miami because of the food and coffee before)

Can she go through the Mexican national line at immigration with me or will we need separate and meet back up at baggage claim? Could I go through the foreign national line to stay with her?
