Better EV route planning for CarPlay

Post image
40 Upvotes

I built the 100% free App CurrentDrive because I like using Apple Maps and CarPlay, but found myself missing better EV trip planning.

It works as an add-on to Apple Maps: you enter your destination and choose what kind of charging stops you want, for example, fast charger from a certain network + toilet/restaurant.

CurrentDrive plans the charging stops and then sends the complete route to Apple Maps using multi-stop routing. From there, Apple Maps handles the actual navigation. Everything is CarPlay first. There’s also a 10–80% charging mode if you want to plan around that.

I built it mostly for myself because I didn’t want to switch to a separate navigation app just for EV trip planning. It’s completely free: no subscription, IAP, or trial, and no data collection

Question iPhone won’t connect to internet while connected to Hyundai CarPlay

The title says it all. Almost. The problem began after I update the iPhone to iOS 26.6.1. It connects to Hyundai Bluetooth, but no longer connects to internet until I disconnect from Bluetooth. Who else has this problem and have you resolved it?

Mazda - Cx5 - Apple Carplay

Apple CarPlay on my 2022 Mazda CX-5 Signature trim would not recognize my iPhone 15 and vice versa. I tried every cable I had, every reset option on both the car and the phone. I spoke with Apple and my phone cellular provider. It was a cable issue. The cable that came with phone is USB-C to USB-C. The car does not have USB-C port. I tried USB-A to USB-C cable that may have been Apple OEM with no luck. Finally, I found an adapter (USB-A male to USB-C female) and was immediately prompted to enable CarPlay. This after months, days, hours of searching for a solution to connect my phone to my car's CarPlay. I hope this helps someone.

Help Maps voice guidance being weird

Noticed on CarPlay (not had chance to test without) that the voice guidance can’t seem to pronounce road numbers correctly. For example when saying the A647 it instead says “day six for the seven”, and whenever its meant to says the number 5 it says “fiv” instead.

Ive tried this with 2x British voices and both behave the same, like TTS is a bit messed up.

Anyone else got this?

I’m running 26.6.1 on a 15 PM.

Help Car Play only playing out of right speaker randomly

I have a 2024 Honda HR-V Sport with CarPlay and an iPhone 16 Pro Max. About 60% of the time, CarPlay works perfectly fine with no issue. However, every so often I'll start my car and connect to CarPlay and all of my audio is stuck to only the right (passenger side) speaker and I cannot for the life of me figure out how to fix it or what causes it.

I have tried multiple different cables (USB-A to USB-C) and even bought 2 new specific data transfer cables rated for CarPlay. I have tried a wireless adapter for CarPlay but then I lost my media control functionality in my car.

I'm never on a call and my audio balance is evenly set within my phone. Beyond this I cannot find any other relevant information and truly am lost as to why this keeps happening. I was hoping someone had any insight on this but I can't find any information out there anywhere. Any tips or ideas are appreciated, thank you!

I have a 2014 ford fiesta with a built in CD player. I have Bluetooth that only works for calling. I’m completely obsessed with my CD player as I own many CDs, but I would love to have Bluetooth/CarPlay aswell. If anyone knows any systems I can purchase/install that still allows me to use both systems, please help a guy out!!!

Question CarPlay issues with USB-C

Hi everyone! I have a 2024 Honda CR-V and my CarPlay is wired. It does not have a usb-c plug. I previously had an iPhone 14 with an Apple cord and never had any issues connecting to CarPlay. I recently got the iPhone 17 and had to purchase the Beats cord (suggested by the Apple worker) for my CarPlay. Ever since then, I have had so many issues with CarPlay. Sometimes I plug my phone in and it works just fine, but most of the time it either says device not connected, unsupported, or remains stuck on the loading screen. I usually have to turn the car on and off several times and re-plug the charger several times to get it to work. And when I am able to connect to CarPlay, it can sometimes be slow or randomly disconnect and then stop working again. This has been super frustrating and I really don’t know how to fix it. Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you!

Can’t find car

CarPlay stopped working recently on my Citroen c3 and iPhone 16. I did all the hacks and forgot the car etc. Now in the CarPlay menu when I hit the voice button to find cars nothing comes up…it’s the same on another phone I tried (iPhone 14). Is it likely to be a car issue?

I’m looking for a CarPlay screen to replace the factory navigation screen. I’m trying to keep it simple, plug and play, and the same size as the factory screen (not a Tesla screen). Also need one with a backup camera. I have attached my current setup.

Help

I have a 2019 model car with CarPlay. It doesn’t seem to update things when the software is updated. Meaning the software updates don’t seem to affect the appearance or function of it when I’m using it in the car.

Am I doing something wrong.

My vehicle connects by a wire and sometimes Inise a wireless dongle.

Any advice appreciated.

Share app Greeting for connect Carplay

Post image
0 Upvotes

It has been nearly a year since the initial launch, and while I have gained a user base, it remains somewhat modest; however, the app's development and testing are now solid and complete.

To celebrate the release of new features, I am giving away 30-day access keys for the premium features so everyone can try them out (basic features remain free, just as before).

Please download the app, take a screenshot of your Device ID, and post it in the comments below; I will then add the activation code for you. (I am offering 100 codes to the first 100 commenters who submit their Device ID between now and the end of September 3rd.)

Here are the features:

Greetly Update V3.1.6

Added automatic greeting playback triggered by events such as Bluetooth connection, CarPlay/Android Auto connection, ACC activation on aftermarket Android car screens, or when the car's Android box starts up. (You can enable multiple connection types simultaneously, set connection priorities, and choose to cancel remaining triggers after 60 seconds or a custom duration.)

⚙ Features:

\- Automatic greeting playback upon startup

\- Custom text input for the app to read aloud

\- Option to add your own pre-recorded greeting audio

\- Adjustable text-to-speech speed and pitch

\- Adjustable playback volume

\- Option to set an intro song or background music for text greetings

\- Feature to launch any installed app after the greeting finishes

\- Automatic updates for new versions

Premium Features (Activation code required)

\- Launch another app after the greeting plays

\- Minimized window / floating button mode

\- Multiple greeting playback (sequential or random playback from your added list)

\- Scheduled greeting playback based on preset time slots

\- Automatic greeting playback triggered by events: Bluetooth connection, CarPlay/Android Auto, ACC activation on aftermarket Android car screens, or car Android box startup (multiple connection types can be enabled simultaneously) ...connections; you can set connection priorities and choose to automatically terminate remaining connections after 60 seconds or a longer custom duration)

Notes:

\- The app may not be compatible with certain devices.

\- Upon the first launch, you must connect to a nearby Wi-Fi network.

\- Some devices may not support using the built-in greeting audio files; a workaround is to install a third-party file manager (e.g., from the Play Store: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=me.zhanghai.android.files&hl=vi or https://github.com/zhanghai/MaterialFiles/releases/latest/download/app-release-universal.apk).

\- To use this alongside Android Auto, you can install intermediary apps such as MacroDroid, Tasker, Automate, or Autostart.

\- Before adding a greeting MP3 file, ensure the filename contains no diacritics or special characters and uses the lowercase extension ".mp3".

\- Some device interfaces lack the feature to trigger the greeting upon startup; you can install an app like Autostart (or use the app's built-in extended features) to resolve this.

Question CarPlay crashing the infotainment system

Hello everyone,
this might be an EU question mostly because of the brand of my car but here goes nothing:
I have a 2023 Skoda Octavia and my infotainment keeps crashing on me. Sometimes it takes 10 minutes, sometimes 10 seconds. It always forces me stop driving, get out of the car for 10-15 seconds with the doors locked, unlock it and restart the car before it works again. I‘m running iOS 26.6. I thought this might have been my car only but lately it also happened while driving my girlfriend’s car which is a 2023 Cupra Leon and also today in my rental, a 2025 Skoda Scala. Has anyone else experienced something similar in their car? Could this be a problem on the car‘s side (they‘re all VW group vehicles so maybe that is the issue?) or iOS 26.6?

Question Apple Carplay on 2015 Honda CRV SE trim

I’ve recently been doing changes on my car and want to add Apple Carplay. I’ve seen people say that the update works on only on non-navigation screens or only the EX and EX-L trim. I have a 2015 Honda CRV SE trim and i’m wondering if it also works on the SE trim too. Someone please let me know, thanks!

Wireless CarPlay rarely auto-connects on 2026 Civic ST Hybrid

Anyone else struggling with this?

Head Unit will connect to Bluetooth, but only 30% of the time finish the process and handoff to CarPlay. If I then take my finger and manually press CarPlay on the head unit, it then connects.

This is insane. The fact that it connects when I press my finger, means it obviously could just auto-connect - but just - doesn't. Like, what??

I've done every single firmware update, have deleted/restored the connection multiple times, absolutely nothing is working.

:( Literally the highest trim on this car.

Anything I can do better?

Post image
1 Upvotes

I recently put together this CarPlay screen for my Acura ILX. This is the cheapest way I could do it. I decided to go for mount that sticks inside of the disc drive. I did not install the aftermarket dash camera that comes with it because my car already has it preinstalled, but it does not have any CarPlay features at all or the ability to update to them. My only question is is there any way I could optimize this better or make it look better? It is a little bit up more in my face than I would prefer, but besides that I don’t think it looks too bad.

Spotify CarPlay Ul missing shuffle, repeat, and Queue & Jam buttons anyone else?

Post image
19 Upvotes

Running iOS 27.0 beta 1 (24A5424a) and noticed my Spotify Now Playing screen on CarPlay is stripped down to just play/pause, previous, next, and the progress bar. No shuffle, no repeat, no “Queue & Jam” button — stuff that’s normally there.
Already tried:
Force closing and reopening Spotify
Reinstalling the app
Restarting the phone
Disconnecting/reconnecting CarPlay

Nothing fixed it. Not sure if this is an iOS 27 beta thing or a Spotify app update thing since both happened around the same time for me.
Anyone else seeing this? Curious if it’s just me or if it’s a known compatibility issue with the beta.
Connection: wireless
Spotify version: 9.1.78

Just installed my CarPlay

So I just installed my aftermarket CarPlay unit. And I’m curious should I take it out every single time I park or is this not worth enough that people won’t try to steal it.

Review I tried one of those CarPlay boxes that puts Netflix/YouTube on the factory screen

I’ve always been a little skeptical of these CarPlay video boxes, so I finally tested one properly.

The interesting part was seeing Netflix and YouTube running on the actual factory infotainment display instead of an aftermarket Android screen.

I also tested the stuff that probably matters more day-to-day — connection time, wireless CarPlay, responsiveness and whether I’d actually keep it connected.

Made a video showing the full test if anyone is interested:

https://youtu.be/fdqoY3v8dnM

Curious how many people here actually use one of these regularly versus just normal CarPlay.
