#Discussion 💬 My Dad is getting me a New Car and they came up with new idea.

The lore is expanding.

So my dad saw me stressing over the Seltos vs Virtus debate and completely flipped the script.

He goes, "Look, if you don’t want a standard compact car, why don't we look at a used premium luxury car in mint condition?"

And just like that, the WhatsApp group chat with my parents turned into a high-stakes auction house. We started browsing listings, and my dad brought up clean Audi A6 (35/45 TDI) options and Mercedes E-Class/C-Class models.

Naturally, I tried to pull a fast one and sneakily pitched a pre-owned Ford Endeavour 3.2 4x4 and don't judge me and even asked if we could somehow swing a Toyota Hilux.

Needless to say, the Hilux and the Endeavour got instantly denied by my mom. Same old story: "Too massive for Pune's tight lanes, and we are not rolling up everywhere looking like a politician's security detail." Fair enough, I guess.

But here is where my mom completely surprised me. She’s actually all-in on the used luxury sedan idea now, and her logic is dangerously convincing:

"Let’s get a proper luxury brand. You get your own cool car, we get the badge and comfort, and you don’t need to stress about maintenance costs we’ll take care of that part."

That sounds like a cheat code, but I know second hand luxury upkeep is a financial trap if something goes majorly wrong.

Within our ₹25 lakh budget, here is what’s currently floating on our radar:

Audi A6 (35 TDI / 45 TFSI): Smooth cruiser, executive boss-level road presence, and feels way more expensive than it actually costs used.

Mercedes-Benz C-Class / E-Class (Diesel): Peak comfort, especially the E-Class rear seat, though parking a massive E-Class in Pune is going to test my patience.

BMW 3 Series (320d): Pure driver's car, rear-wheel drive, and scratches that aggressive performance itch much better than a Seltos.

Ford Endeavour 3.2 (My rejected rebel choice): Pure beast mode, but my parents think it’s too tank-like for daily college runs.

My brain is officially fried. Do I take my mom up on the used German luxury offer Or is this a massive trap and I should just stick to a brand-new, headache-free Kia Seltos top model?

#Discussion 💬 Are diesel cars dead in 2026, or are you still buying them?

To anyone who bought a brand-new diesel car this year: what made you pull the trigger despite all the DPF/policy noise?
For the rest of you, if you were buying a keeper for the next 7–10 years today, which way are you leaning? EV, Petrol/Hybrid, or Diesel?

Struggling to pick between an EV and an ICE car under 30L! EVs are tempting, but ICE feels more practical right now. So confused, need some help deciding!

#Discussion 💬 Škoda accident repair taking almost a month — is this normal?

I handed over my relatively new Škoda to an authorised workshop on 12 August after an accident. I was initially told the repair would take around 10–15 days.
It has now been almost 26 days, and I’m being told the car may only be ready by the end of this week.
The workshop says most of the work is done and that an internal bumper rod/support was identified later and took time to arrive. However, I was told from the beginning that they would open the bumper and check for internal damage.
My bigger frustration is the lack of communication. I have had to call every time to find out what’s happening. The manager rarely provides proactive updates, and the delivery date keeps getting pushed back.
This is also my second frustrating after-sales experience with the car — I previously had an EPC issue that required an engine-related component to be replaced under warranty.
I understand that parts can be delayed, but is almost a month reasonable for this kind of accident repair? Has anyone else experienced similar delays with Škoda authorised workshops in India?
I don’t want to rush the repair; I just want to know whether this timeline is genuinely normal or whether the workshop is handling it poorly.

#Discussion 💬 Planning to buy second hand car

Post image
6 Upvotes

Hello my fellow autoheads

I am planning to buy my first car, I love sedans, so I have some limited options

Honda civic (not city or amaze) (2019,2020)

Hyundai Verna (2018+)

Scoda Slavia

VW virtus

I absolutely love Honda civic but I read that there are no parts available even at there official service centres.

So now I am looking for options although my heart is already broken 💔.

Please help me guys, I am highly sceptical about second hand car market.

I want something that is low maintenance, ig that removes german made as a viable option.

I can also go for hyundai i20 nline, but I think I won't be able to afford the fuel efficiency

I'm hoping for atleast 15kmpl of mileage. Because my daily drive will be upwards of 70kms. [OC]

#Discussion 💬 Pehli gaadi lene ke baad jo cheezein seekh

Bhaiyon, thode time pehle pehli gaadi li thi. Usse pehle lagta tha bas petrol daalo aur chalao.

Lekin real life mein yeh cheezein pata chali:

  • Service time pe karwao, warna baad mein double kharcha hota hai
  • Tyre pressure regularly check karo, mileage pe seedha asar padta hai
  • Saste mein kaam karwane ke chakkar mein local mechanic ke paas mat jao har baar
  • AC filter aur engine oil ka dhyan rakhna zaroori hai

Jo log recently gaadi le rahe ho ya lene wale ho, koi tips dena chahte ho to likho.

#Query ❓ Seltos or Creta? Got quote from dealers

I am confused between Seltos HTK(O) and Creta S(O) - petrol IVT variant.

Quote from dealers -
Seltos: 18.6L on-road. No accessories, no extended warranty.
Creta: 17.6L on-road. No accessories, but includes 4th year extended warranty and Hyundai shield of trust.

Feature list is almost identical in both. Only difference is newer K3 platform, slightly larger dimensions and 5-star BNCAP rating of seltos.

Personally favouring seltos, but want opinion on whether I am missing good deal on creta or not.
Also, is anybody getting any cash discount on seltos? Checked with couple of dealers, nobody is offering any discount at all.

#News 📰 Toyota Starlet scores 4 star in GNCAP Spoiler

Earlier in May India made 2 airbag variant scored 0 stars for adult safety and 3 stars for child safety. Now that 6 airbags have been standardized, it has scored 4 stars for adult safety in latest test.

Same thing was seen with India made Baleno where the 6 airbag variant got 4 stars in BNCAP. While the Latin NCAP gave it 2 star even though it's equipped with 6 airbags due to lack of ADAS.
