Drivers education…
Hey genuine question for my Cvillians and Virginians!!!
In drivers education here does one learn to not block the box? Use their blinker? 😆 but seriously..
I grew up in the north and learned how to drive there, and the driving choices here continue to amaze and confuse me everyday.

When someone's blocking the box and keeping me from crossing an intersection at my green light, I've taken to just laying on the horn.
This area's drivers are awful. Today someone stopped in the right lane of 9th St to let someone else pull out and turn left, except the left lane of 9th wasn't stopping so....they were just stopped, blocking traffic for no reason.
I get wanting to be polite and all, but on a main road you'd think right of way would take priority for safety reasons.

Not enough horn honking in Cville. I'm tired of being the fourth in line having to do the dirty to someone doom scrolling at a green light.

The dude who runs that Halal food truck was behind me as I began slowing to a stop at a red light at 250 and High St. He then accelerated and swerved around me and ran the red light. His Halal food must've been getting cold.

I read here once that Virginia drivers ed teaches drivers at on ramps that they should just go and other drivers will adjust not to hit them. That sounds ludicrous to me, but that is how people drive in Charlottesville.

If you learned to drive up North, I’ll bet you notice it on every left turn on green.

Worst drivers in America here. It blows my mind everyday.

One of my biggest pet peeves is when people put their blinker on AFTER changing into the turn only lane.

Learned to drive in CA and was taken aback when I encountered all the “Don’t block the box” signs at Philly intersections. So it’s not just VA where it isn’t taught. That said — I pretty much don’t block the box, ‘cause common sense

Blocking the box is so obnoxious. And clearly detrimental to traffic flow
