Using wrong oil to flush engine?

1 Upvotes

I have a C4 1.6 Hdi which has recently developed an oil leak, I am slightly over the millage for an oil charge. The recommended oil it total quartz INEO.

How much damage will it do to use a cheaper oil of a lower grade, same viscosity, short term while I locate and fix the leak?

I rebuilt the discontinued Citroën ConnectedCAM app for iOS - open source

18 Upvotes

Hi everyone,

I recently discovered that the original ConnectedCAM app for iPhone is no longer available, even though the camera hardware itself still works.

So I built an unofficial open-source replacement for iOS.

The app connects directly to the ConnectedCAM over its local Wi-Fi network and currently lets you:

  • Browse photos and videos stored on the camera
  • Watch videos and view photos
  • Download recordings to your iPhone
  • Save and share media
  • Delete recordings
  • Take snapshots
  • Check the camera status

The project is completely free and open source:

https://github.com/hihelloluigi/citroen-connected-camera-ios

At the moment it needs to be built and installed with Xcode, so it’s mainly intended for iPhone users who are comfortable installing an open-source project.

I’ve tested it with my own ConnectedCAM, but one of the main reasons I’m sharing it here is that I’d love to test it with different cars / ConnectedCAM versions.

So if you still have a working ConnectedCAM in your Citroën, I’d be really interested to know:

  • Which model/year you have
  • Whether the app connects successfully
  • If you find any compatibility issues

Hopefully this can give some life back to hardware that is still perfectly usable.

Hello all,

Has anyone installed Android HU from Aliexpress? There are couple of them on sale, probably from same manufacturer. Specs looks good, looking at diagrams it should completely replace SMEG unit, but, how will it display other car related things that we have in menus?

5 years ago I bought similar one for another car, and it still is quite good and works like it should. But that radio isn't at all integrated, just steering wheel controls and basic canbus.

Now I tried with CarABC android auto module, and I don't like it. It works mostly ok, but for some reason disconnects couple of times during 3-4 hour trips. Switching between module and stock things is annoying, so is bluetooth connection. My phone gets too hot for my liking, can't turn on hotspot while using AA. Lots of drawbacks.

Ds3 coolant leak

1 Upvotes

Hi, my partner bought her first ever car in May. A lowish mileage 2013 petrol ds3. She doesn’t need it for work so the car would only be really used locally and to build confidence. Soon after buying I got a full service a the garage noted a possible head gasket issue, oil in coolant. The car also had no coolant an since then I keep it topped up, it had got to max temp stop and I tried that rad weld but no real joy. Over the weekend my mate stopped an external coolant leak, possibly from expansion tank going down and dripping under car. The car when driving is ok for about 10 miles but kept below 50mph. The car also cannot blow hot air into cab. I have cleaned up the expansion tank of oil coolant on outside and topped up. Hope being I can find external leak and hope it doesn’t have internal. Happen to anyone else and any advice ?

Citroen c3 plus iv 2025 fuse 14 a position

1 Upvotes

Hi

Would anyone know where the 14a 5amp fuse is located in the glove box fusebox.

Unfortunately being an old git, l can no longer fold myself in the correct position to see the numbers on the black moulded box.

There appears to be a cluster of 5 or 6 5 amp fuses on the top just out of my sight,

Could someone please help

Tia

Quand cela arrive :

  • le moteur démarre normalement et tourne parfaitement ;
  • j’ai le message « boîte de vitesses défaillante » ;
  • la boîte reste bloquée sur N (neutre) ;
  • impossible de passer en automatique ou en manuel, donc impossible de rouler ;
  • j’ai également le message « système antipollution défaillant » ;

Merci !

Citroen C4 grand Picasso won't start

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hello guys, I have a 2014 Citroen c4 grand Picasso with a semi automatic gearbox and for the past few days I'm trying to figure out what's wrong with it.

Car had 0 issues since I bought it and a few weeks ago ran out of battery (found the car with 0 power). Jump started it and it worked normally with no errors for a few days. Went on a trip to Wales and the next day when I wanted to go home, the car will throw a lot of errors on the screen and won't start. AA said that it might be the battery. Got the car back home, bought a brand new agm battery, same specs as my old one, replaced it and still no luck. Same errors. I also attached a clip with what's going on after I try to start the engine wich doesn't start. Once car is on, screens won't turn off unless I disconnect the battery.

Any ideas will be much appreciated

C5 2.0 hdi tourer 2010 anti pollution system faulty

1 Upvotes

My c5 started to show anti pollution faulty light. We used a tester at a shop and it showed turbo pressure solenoid and changed it.

For about a week there was no warning light, but then it came back. This time different tester said something about turbo pressure, but not the solenoid. We reseted the warning and it went a way.

Sometimes the car twitches when i drive. Warning light comes and stays if i need to speed up with cold engine sometimes. Do you have any idea what we could try next?

Short holiday break, so time for these two XM magazines.

The revue technique is from 1996, and the l'expert automobile from 1989, so pretty early for an XM. The other difference is that the latter has a lot of commercials in it: tecnique et nouveautes.There seems to have been a trade show, EQUIP'AUTO 89, for which there are a couple of pages. Personally I like to see the adverts for handy electronic boxes, up to a desk full of teletypes and terminals. (Some kind of tolerance measuring bench?) And don't forget the boxe au lavage 😄

C3 aircross II voluntary recall

2 Upvotes

I've received a notification about a voluntary recall about GW6-altornater and I wonder if anyone knows about it. The message says there's a risk of fire, we're currently 800km shy from the very first 10K km service. So should I rush to the service or wait for those 800km. I'm sorry this is my first car and I never had any interest of the subject beforehand so this may be a ridiculous question.

Car is C3 aircross 2026.

Citroen C5 Aircross

2 Upvotes

Hi

Considering investing in a 2019-2024 C5 Aircross, I have 3 girls, aged 14,15 and a 7 year old in a booster backed seat. I previously had a 2015 c4 Picasso and the space in the back was unbelievable.

Will it be as generous in a c5 or much smaller?

Thanks

2015 C4 Cactus

1 Upvotes

So people hate these cars, but I've just bought mine as a cheap first car and I like it. At first, it was a bit basic. After playing around with the infotainment and it was a limited experience but for the price and age, it was fine. I couldn't get Bluetooth to connect. I couldn't get Android Auto and Google told me most modern phones don't support the older MirrorLink now. So I was like "okay, that's fine. I'll get a satnav"...

Next problem, my passenger airbag light was on. Flipped the glovebox, it's turned off. Turned it on. Light stays illuminated. Turn off the ignition. Turn on the ignition. Wait.... Still illuminated. Can't imagine having too many passengers anyway so it's not a huge deal...

Just spent 30 minutes sitting in the car. Went through everything, then performed a factory reset and reset the infotainment screen. Lo and behold, the Bluetooth now connects, my Samsung Fold8 now pops up with Android Auto. Went under the passenger seat, pushed the blue and yellow clip, now the airbag light goes off.

Now my only problem is the headlight menu. I click it and it just spins. Then goes back to giving the option of selecting the headlight menu. Apparently this COULD host a few options such as leaving your lights on for a few seconds. I don't want to Google it for Google to tell me my car doesn't support it, just like it did with the SMEG screen and android auto. But that's a hurdle for another day.
