"What's That Brush" megathread -2026

Welcome to the next installment of the "What's that Brush" megathread. Here, you will be able to ask any and all questions related to finding, missing, lost, and suggested brushes, and the community can assist you. This is to prevent users from posting threads with art that is not theirs and asking "What brush?" constantly. If you have a question about how to modify a brush, you can ask that Operations Question in the main Sub, this megathread is about existing brushes and other Brush Seeking activities.

Clip Studio assets has a ridiculous number of brushes, yes, but the majority of the posts we see are asking "What brush is this?" looking at art made using a variety of brushes and techniques, often using very generic brushes; the default tools such as the G-Pen or a Pencil and a Blender is the answer, in addition to Natural Talent, Art College and/or Decades of experience. Sorry, there's no Magical Brush that's going to replace these. Put in the hours.

**If you asked in previous megathreads and did not get an answer, feel free to ask again!**

Here is a recap of the rules and additional notes!

**1.** Please post a ***link*** (or links) to the image(s) you're trying to find brushes for, in the comments of these megathreads only. Don't post other people's images to ask about questions, use a link. It's not fair to the actual artists on this subreddit that the posts that get the most upvotes are users reposting other people's art just to ask about the tools, rather than users' own artwork posts. Enforcing this has been weak in this megathread, but it will improve.

**2.** Please make sure the images you're linking are of high enough quality to actually tell the brushes you're trying to point out. Likely, there is more than one brush in the image you link to, please specify what aspect you are looking to replicate: Lines, blend, texture, etc.

**3.** Please list what brushes you've tried already and why it doesn't feel like it worked, so other users can have an idea of where to start with their suggestions. Users here generally don't seem to mind helping, but it would be nice to know you made effort as to why the default tools aren't what you're looking for.

**4.** Users can respond to each query via reply to that comment.

**5.** Any brush-related post made that's not a comment in this thread will be deleted.

Other Fixed my constant Issue with a network asset download error.

So since I had issues with CSP, and needed to reinstall it. I could not download assets anymore.

It always stated that I had network connection issues. I went through ALL steps with the CSP Support, but nothing worked. I tried my iPad, I tried to make a new account just to test, if it was an issue with my Windows Computer or my Clip account.

After figuring out, that the store works with a VPN connection, and with my Husbands mobile phone hotspot.

I figured out, that my Internet provider at home, and the Issue was a connectet with CGNAT (Carrier-Grade Network Address Translation). So basically, many people share one IP address, there are many reasons that CGNAT connection can cause trouble with CDN's.

So switching to a private IP4 Solved this issue.

CSP Question Losing my mind with the isometric ruler

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Iso ruler I'm using in the video is this -> ISOMETRIC RULER + Grid. But I have tried every other in the assets store and I'm still getting the same problems.

First, the lines I'm drawing aren't following the left and right axis correctly. They're slightly crooked if you look closely. And the second problem is that I can't draw vertical lines, at all.

What am I doing wrong?

I am trying to make a simple chain brush!

It is almost done, but when I draw a stroke with curve, the shape is very jagged and wonky.

I more-so want it to stay the same shape along the path. Any ideas on what’s wrong??

Tutorials Pro tip: ditch the eraser

In most cases while rendering, your eraser simply isnt needed. In order to erase something, switch to transparant color and use your current brush to erase. Saves so much time and minimizes having to click through the options! And to switch back, just click on your current color and you're done

Other why no perpetual license for android???

I know it's a small thing to be irritated about, but truly, monthly and annual subscription programs hurt my soul. I got the movink 14 thinking I could just either transfer one of my licenses over (I have both a Pro and an Ex license, both perpetual) or get a new one, but nope! android only has the subscription. I'm half-tempted to put one of those windows emulators on my tablet and seeing if I can make it work that way, because holy hell this is a big pet peeve. Either that or just use krita since that's on the google store now.

CSP Question Two questions

Hi, I'm considering buying ClipStudio, and I was wondering if after buying a perpetual license version I would have to change my laptoo, could I move my ClipStudio to that new laptop/device? Or would I need to buy it again?

And is it worth buing PRO version? I'm especially interested in animation and 'extract lines from images and 3d models' options. Thanks!

Instead of having to click through hundreds of layers to find that one pesky dot you accidenly left to erase it, click it with the select layer tool and it'll instantly open up the layer the dot is in

Other What's the best way to use Clip Studio on a laptop?

Hey everyone! Hope you’re all doing great.

I’ve got a bit of a strange question, but with all the AI and mixed info out there, I’m not so sure anymore…

What’s the best way to use Clip Studio on a laptop? Should I keep it plugged in or run it on battery?

Since it’s pretty resource-heavy, I’m just trying to figure out the best setup to balance my laptop’s battery life while getting the most out of Clip.

Thank you so much, and have a lovely day.

CSP Question Export isn't working

I am using Clip Studio Paint EX version 1.13.2 for Windows. I am using a ROG Zephyrus G16 laptop

Hi, I've used Clip Studio Paint EX for a few years now, and I decided to do a quick little animation last night. I've done a few of these over the years, but this time, I ran into a problem. I couldn't export the animation. Animated GIF worked, but when I tried to export it as a movie, nothing popped up. Same with trying to export as an image sequence which I don't even want to do. Normally something is supposed to pop up, but nothing loads. It's not even a big of an animation. I tried another file that I know was able to export in the past, and it also couldn't export.

Does anyone have any advice?

CSP Question I might have purchased an incorrect plan (PC PRO VER 4.0)

I might have purchased an incorrect CSP upgrade plan. I am a holder of a CLIP STUDIO PAINT PRO ver 4.0 perpetual license (For Windows 11), but I wished to upgrade to CLIP STUDIO PAINT EX VER 5.0 to access the animation features. On the website, I purchased to plan titled 'Clip studio paint - Update Pass (Annual)' as I believed that it was the cheapest way to access CSP EX. However, when I went to activate my license, I received an error message: "No serial number could be found to connect to the Update Pass". My questions are:

- Can this license only be activated if I have a CSP EX perpetual license, but not a PRO license??

- If not, how do I actually activate this license?

- If I can't actually use this, is it possible for me to get a refund since I haven't actually activated it yet? It was purchased via paypall if anyone is wondering.

I have looked through everything on the CSP support portal and nothing there seems to match my issue. I have sent an inquiry to CSP, but I haven't received a response as of yet.

I'm using version 1.13.2 on Windows

Hello!
I'm trying to change the appearance of some vector lines, but I can't seem to add my current line settings to the presets, as the button isn't highlighted to click. What may I do to add it to the list of presets?

Thanks!

CSP Question How do I access the assets page of a registered material? 🖌

It's a bit strange because I made a custom folder and now I can't really remember what X material was in. Even worse, most of it is in Chinese.

I never knew how to access pages like that, do you know how?

How to add this to brush shape?

There's a brush on procreate that I really like. I manage to replicate the brush stroke , but how do I go around adding this to the brush shape list? From what I know is that I can only duplicate existing brushes and change the brush tip. What if I want this particular shape? Please help~

Brush/Materials didn’t make the final 21, but i’m still glad i made this :’)

Post image

made this last year for an illustration competition with around 5,000 submissions and only 21 pieces were selected in the end. i worked on mine for almost two weeks in my spare time, so yeah… not making it stung a little. but i still really like how this piece turned out and thought i’d share it here! made entirely in Clip Studio Paint.

for the CSP process: i used the G-pen for the sketch, then Dry Gouache for pretty much all of the coloring. i also used a little blur in some areas at the end to create more depth.

Line Press and Hold Smart Shape Setting (fixed)

Post image

Just a heads up, since it took me an hour and a half to troubleshoot this-

If your lines annoyingly turn into shapeable lines and move mid drawing, you can turn it off here:

Just hit file - > preferences - > tools - > scroll all the way to the bottom and turn it off.

I hope this helps someone.
