By now, everyone surely knows that Yachiyo’s birthday falls on August 32nd, right?

While this date does not actually exist, it carries a rather interesting underlying meaning.

In Japan, summer spans from June to August.

August 31st is the day the fireworks festival takes place in CPK ( light novel version) -the day Iroha invited Kaguya to the festival. It marks the end of summer and holds Kaguya’s happiest memory.

Yachiyo’s choice of August 32nd - a non-existent date - implies a deep-seated wish for the summer spent with Iroha to last forever, for that moment to never slip away; this mirrors the meaning of her name, "Yachiyo" which signifies an eternity of 8,000 years.

Another interesting detail appears in the chat, where someone mentions: "I’m one of the people Yachiyo asks every day: 'Are you eating properly?'" As we know, Yachiyo directs this question at Iroha because, before Kaguya started cooking for her (on a daily basis), Iroha’s diet was severely lacking in proper nutrition 🥹.

*note: This analysis isn't mine; it was produced by a Vietnamese anime fan page on Facebook, called: A Lonely Comet - An Anime Blog, and I simply used Google Translate to translate it.

btw, did anyone notice that Yachiyo's hand in the second photo is shaped like a fox (Iroha)?

Discussion What I love about Cosmic Princess Kaguya — Part 2 of 8: When Iroha let Kaguya into her heart Spoiler

This is the second post of my series, “What I love about Cosmic Princess Kaguya.” As mentioned in the last post, I’ll be talking about four of my favorite scenes in the movie for parts 2-5. You don’t need to read my first post to fully understand this post. However, it does give some context and information about the relationship between the main trio (Iroha, Kaguya, and Yachiyo). If you want to read it, part 1 is linked at the bottom of this post.

Note: Full spoilers throughout this series. Please watch the movie if you haven’t as this series talks about it in full detail.

Part 2: When Iroha let Kaguya into her heart (Timestamp: 47:25)

The first moment I want to talk about is when Iroha opened up to Kaguya when she was sick. Unable to healthily balance studying, working, gaming, and supporting Kaguya, Iroha developed a fever and fainted as they took a stroll. When Iroha woke up, she realized how much Kaguya cared about her: Kaguya brought her home, excused her from work, and cooked for her. After Kaguya convinced her to stay home, Iroha started to open up about what led to her situation. As a result of the several fights she had when she lived with her mom, she had wanted to live on her own and just get away from that environment. When she had proposed it to her mom, her mom had said that she’d only agree to it if Iroha took care of her own expenses—but as Kaguya said it: “I’m an alien, and even I can tell your mom’s not normal at all!” It was then Iroha was about to say “Kaguya, you just don’t…” but didn’t finish her sentence.

While short, this scene fleshes out the duo and their bond quite a bit. Previous scenes do show their connection, but this is one of the first scenes that actually shows how deep it is. Although Kaguya’s antics were part of the reason why Iroha got sick, you can truly see how much she cares for her. Iroha, someone who keeps her pain to herself, was able to let those emotions out because of the comfort Kaguya brings. But despite this newfound comfort, Iroha’s trauma from her mom continues to linger. The phrase Iroha was about to say? It’s her echoing what her mom told her during her father’s funeral: “You’re too young to understand.” Even in the comfort Kaguya brings to Iroha, her mom and these words continue to haunt her.

Thanks for reading Part 2 of 8 of this series! Apologies for this part being short and late. A bit after posting Part 1, I got busy with family trips and school. To make up for it, I’ll do my best to post Part 3 sometime next week.

Btw, I enjoyed writing this part a lot too. Going back to writing these posts reminded me of why I love CPK so much, I can’t wait to write Part 3. See you at the next post!

Discussion The biggest scam in CPK history

Post image

Someone brought this up recently, so I thought I’d take everyone back to February for a little trip down memory lane.

This has got to be one of the biggest scam in CPK history. I’m talking about the whole "Iroha suki" Morse code thing. As far as we remember, it originally came from a Chinese person who claimed to be a music teacher, and the theory eventually made its way into an official video.

When the theory first came out, I spent roughly 1–2 weeks fact-checking it and found that there was actually no way to prove it. I tried slowing down the clip and counting the beats, as well as analyzing the audio with a spectrogram. It was pretty clear that it was just a repeating audio loop, and even if you tried to decode it as Morse code, there was no way it would spell "Iroha suki"

On top of that, the composer Yuigot, has never once mentioned this supposed easter egg. That’s completely different from the 168 BPM detail, which they actually talked about in a post on Twitter and openly discussed in interviews. At this point, it’s pretty damn obvious that the whole "Iroha suki" thing was fake.

Honestly, this is a pretty good case study on why you should verify things for yourself before believing rumors you see on the internet. Otherwise, you’ll just end up getting fooled like this.

People these days seem to be way too quick to believe things. They get swept up by the crowd and forget to actually check the facts. So, please use the internet responsibly and think for yourselves.
